Honestly the story modes for the Mario baseball games are so underrated and fun! The concept of going around and gathering new teammates to take down Bowsers super team makes you really feel like you have to find the best of the best!
Mario Sports Mix is the best imo, I love hoops but having the option of three different sports and then and option to play a mixture of them and also having all of the other mini game modes and having expert for the sports mix category and the pretty big character roster, its one of the best.
I was expecting Mario Sports Mix to be on here, but I’m glad London 2012 was included! The reason I like this one is because it makes both the Olympic Events AND Dream Events fun!
@@minimik75 I was meant to say strikers charged not sluggers because I don't have sluggers but uh sure, I can play strikers online with you if you like
All the current Mario sports games are really underwhelming as there are barley any and it just doesn't feel the same. I loved the old nice and unrealistic feeling it had but now it's just feeling like those very realistic and just in general too simplistic they need to go back to the old casual style
I was legit just playing the Mario Sports games when this was uploaded. They are so much fun and many of them have such character! Never would you expect a giant Piranha Plant to limbo after scoring a goal to be in the same game where a Purple Stickman does the Crotch Chop after scoring IN A SOCCER GAME! Also, just the fact that Petey Piranha is in most of these titles brings me joy because it’s the WTF character that either no one minds or people will say “WHAT IS THAT!”. Plus, it means that Nintendo does remember Sunshine
@@MrMario501 yes i've heard of Murica it's full of idiots like you saying cursed stuff like football jk about the idiot part but just roll with the joke my dude chill
Ikr? The game is underrated as hell. It has four different sports plus a mix mode, mini games, stages with unique effects, characters with unique special abilities, an amazing soundtrack and a Final Fantasy boss fight?! Yeah, this easily should’ve been top 3.
@@thatshygroundguy_2624 i think it is because it is 4 sports wich does not have as much content as a single sport game i know it's wierd but i think it is The reason
I really cant believe you only mentioned mario super sluggers briefly the story has a lot of charm and the character selection is much more vast than the last game in the series I would have added it to the list. I totally agree with you on Mario hoops 3 on 3 though that game was my childhood plus the gameplay was solid and the character selection was awesome. Great video with the exception of super sluggers getting forgotten.
I gotta play some of these games at some point. They look pretty fun. I did play London 2012 on my 3DS for a short time (before the story ended up boring me out of my mind). But... no Mario Sports Mix on the Wii? It's a fun game that's got basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, and hockey all wrapped into ONE package! That, and it also features multiple guest characters and the intro cutscene (while a bit bland) still looks really cool. I played that game for a long time with my family, and for simple family game nights every weekend, we really loved it!
@@stagivian4705 Yup, same here. While it's not my favorite Wii game, it's at least one I remember playing a lot for some simple fun on weekends with my family (that, and it's probably the last Mario game I bought for the Wii).
I’m surprised to not see Sports Mix on here. It’s one of my favorite sports titles and hella underrated; it’s one of those few sports titles that is fun for me to play over and over because of the sheer variety. But overall this was a great list!
London Party is Amazing! Ive replayed it soo many times. I think I could literally play a London Party in my head even tho I havent played it since last year
What about Mario sports mix on the Wii? I'm guessing it was excluded because it has multiple sports instead of just one, but I think it should have at least gotten an honorable mention
Same I remember watching videos on youtube of it as a kid and years later I got a copy of it and it was amazing, I have completed every medal and almost every collectible
i so was expecting sports mix from the wii on this as its so underrated and even the tourneys have replay value as if you complete it once you can go on different paths the next time you play. no matter what sport
London 2012 wii will always be one of my favourite games of all time. Playing this as a kid whenever I was visiting my grandparents with their neighbour who was at my age and my brother are some of my best gaming memories ever
Mario and Sonic in the 2010 winter olympics (Vancouver) deserves a top spot only for its story mode. As a child it was one of my best memories from the DS, it was THAT good. The music, the minigames, the story, everything
Mario Power Tennis and Golf Toadstool Tour are some of my favorites. London 2012 is my favorite Olympics games. Though interestingly, the compilations (Mario Sports Mix and Sports Superstars) were left out.
hoops is just sports mix except better. while it came first it has a larger character select and item select, it has more depth in the actual core gameplay, more stylized art direction, better music (in my opinion, music is a very subjective thing) its pretty much a better game in every aspect other than the fact that waluigi pinball isnt a stage in hoops 3 on 3 the basketball mode in sports mix is worse than hoops by far, hockey is budget mario strikers (but it at least has the _respect_ to pretend its not strikers), volleyball is ok and dodgeball is fun but could use more depth and content it would have been a better game as a whole if the dodgeball mode was the whole game and they added more stages and characters
Wow! Thanks for putting Mario Hoops on number 1, Nathaniel! I usually never see anyone talk about this game and this my my first Mario Sports game i've ever played.
My favorite sports game and also my absolute favorite game is Mario Sports Mix. It has Basketball, Hockey, Dodgeball and Volleyball and all of these are awesome. And this isn't the only thing. Edit: The Mario Sports series are my favorite game series from all.
Here are some spots fun facts: Fun Fact 1: Mario Strikers Charged Football is the first game ever where the voice actor for Peach is Samantha Kelly (the actual voice actor). Fun Fact 2: Mario Tennis was for two characters really important. Daisy gives in this game a comeback, since her last appearance before was in Super Mario Land eleven years ago and Waluigi was new in this game because Mario Tennis was a game where everyone must have a partner and Wario hasn't a partner but Camelot brings Waluigi and this was the first time that a character first appears in a sports game.
Does anyone remember Mario Sports Mix on the wii? It was basically Mario Hoops 3 on 3 but better and with more sports, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone else talk about it. The tournament mode is amazing as well, the final arena being an airship from Super Mario Galaxy, with Starbits giving you potential points. It's a superb game. It also has the final fantasy characters lol
Mario Tennis 64 was actually pretty good too, specially with good mechanics, characters variety, courses, amazing soundtrack, and BEING WALUIGI'S DEBUT GAME
I’d love to see Smash Bros have a sports mode where you can play any sport with the roster and set up teams and fun quirks within each game that makes Nintendo sports games fun
Mario Sports Mix man. Definitely should have been on the list. 4 great sports in 1 game, great tournament and story mode, and final fantasy characters too. Ever heard of it?
Mario sports mix has a basketball mode which is similar to hoops 3 on 3 and more games like dodgeball, hockey and volleyball. It also has different cpu difficulties and Final Fantasy characters.
My personal top 10 1. Sports mix 2. Super sluggers 3. Power tennis 4. 2012 summer Olympic game (wii) 5. 2010 winter Olympic Games (wii) 6. Toadstool tour 7. Strikers charged 8. Mario hoops 9. 3ds Mario tennis 10. Tennis aces
I played countless hours of Mario Golf Advance Tour. It was so fun. Super Mario Super Sluggers is my Number 1 for a top 10. I have played at least 100 hours of that game. The story mode is great, the line-up and customization of teams is utterly amazing. The mini-games are good, and there are tons of Stadiums. Not to mention a Day/Night Option! The amount of content packed into that game is amazing, and I constantly find myself murdering my wrist by going back to that game.
Mario Superstar Baseball also has an amazing story mode, with specific missions for each character, to complete to get their star rank, which is something I always enjoyed.
No Mario Sports mix ? That's surprising. Always found it cool. It has a story mode where you get to beat up final fantasy characters, minigames, great music and unlockable skins and challenges. Plus it's one of the only times you get to see Mario play hockey...
No Mario Sports Superstars on 3DS? Not only did it combine Golf, Tennis and Baseball, it was also technically our answer to Mario Strikers 3. How did you miss it? OK, I get it, no one played Horse Racing, but honestly, so underrated.
Mario Super Sluggers is personally the best sports game, it has a bigger roster, a full fledged story mode, and much more characters in the roster, it would’ve made much more sense to put that on the list over super star baseball
MrEevee no. No it is not. It’s so Nintendo can manufacture scarcity and make people feel like they’re missing out if they don’t buy the game immediately. There is no defense
I still feel Strikers Charged is very underrated so I'm glad you score it higher than people do! I honestly can't wait to see a Mario Strikers sequel someday, the series are so brutal and full of personality
I really like Mario Tennis Aces because the gameplay is a combo of regular and Mario tennis, and it’s also one of two Mario sports game I have played so far, the other being Mario Tennis Open, which I don’t enjoy as much as Aces.
I was hoping for mario tennis power tour at number one, but then I heard the singing "oh, ohhhh, oh, ohhh" of sweet sweet mario hoops and my disappointment turned into nostalgia for a game I completely forgot about!!!
Personally, My favorite is Mario Strikers Charged simply because how brutally fun it is. Mario hoops 3 on 3 is my second favorite as well my favorite Nintendo DS game
There are some I would have definitely put as honorable mentions: Mario Tennis 64: a solid title, and was Waluigi’s debut. It hasn’t aged that well though. Mario Sports Mix: does what Mario Hoops did, but adds more sports to play along with Basketball. Mario Super Sluggers: already mentioned in the video.
Mario super sluggers was my all time favorite. You had 6 main stages with there own gimmicks. Then then gimmicks get a boost at night time. You had two bowser stages one for baby and own for the regular. You had a Luigi stage. You had a story mode. You had a ton of captains each with there own supers. The motion controls were smoothish. You had items that you could turn on and off. You had other fun game modes. And you had the buddy system. Like seriously. Super sluggers had it all. IT EVEN HAD A AWESOME OPENING!!!
I managed to get Mario Hoops 3 on 3 (Mario Slam Basketball for me in UK) at a Car Boot sale and the kids who owned it before hated the game and thought it was lame (I was young at the time too and had no idea it even existed; I thought it was a rare mario game). So I bought it, luckily for £7 and enjoyed the crap out of it. So many days where I would just be trying out the special shots over and over because they made me happy. The characters, music and art made me love the game so much and the local multiplayer with my sister was an absolute blast. The courts were very creative, the controls were not bad at all, the items made it more hectic and enjoyable and overall, it was a brilliant game. So happy someone has acknowledged it's awesomeness
Mario strikers charged will always be my favourite, but M&S at London 2012 Olympics, Toadstool Tour and Power Tennis follow close behind, I have a lot of fond memories with those games
