Hot take: Zemo is one of the most underrated villains. He was able to tear apart the avengers and had good motives for doing so. Peoples criticisms on him will be that his plan relies too much on coincidence but I believe that his plan is changing depending on the current situation of where the avengers are at. And it was also a good acting performance.

I think he's somewhat polarizing. It is true that he has fans and that many write him off cause he's not really a fighter and think his plans rely too much on luck or whatever. But considering how throwaway many MCU villains have been it's not hard to be in the top half.

PS Effect I’d say that it could have been good if the studio didn’t force Rami’s hands anywhere. It seemed like he gave up when the studio made him use venom and he just stopped caring since it wasn’t gonna be the vision he wanted, and not in the entitled way, they took away his basic vision in order to make as much money as possible.

I semi agree. I would say it's good, not great and that it's biggest flaw (outside of everything involving the simbiot) is that it follows the greatest Spiderman movie of all time. But after those two Marc Webb movies it sure looks a lot better. On a side note: how the hell does someone with the name Webb screw up a Spiderman movie?!?

Look, I can kinda enjoy bits of it. Cool comedy with the detonator, pac man, Mary poppins yondu. Yondu as a whole i liked as well, but what Sean is saying about the movie also true. Like really, for a campy, comedic, sort of childish movie, things like seeing groot treated how he is on that ravaged ship, and the idea of ego planting a tumor in quills moms head, plus killing all oif his siblings is just so out of place and yes distasteful.

@@notoriousmigz2427 I guess I can kind of see where Sean is going. It feels like there are times when James Gunn is trying to use his campy material, while having some emotion at the same time. You have things like the Sovereign written as spoof MCU villains and Who's very dark plan involving Starlord's siblings.

You could say I have a few hot takes (in no particular order) 1. Star-Lord is not stupid, and gets WAY too much hate for Infinity War 2. Black Widow is just as useless as Hawkeye (or "Hawkeye is just as important as Black Widow", however you want to word it) 3. The Ant-Man movies are fantastic and deserve a lot more love 4. Doctor Strange might have been formulaic but was still a fantastic movie and is a mid-high tier film 5. Hela (while better than most) is an overrated villain. (honestly, I think she gets more love cause she's the first female one) 6. Ulysses Claw is the 4th best villain and should not have died so soon 7. Tom Holland is the best on-screen version of Spider-Man, even if he isn't completely comic accurate 8. Iron Man 3 is a great film. Getting to see Tony be a hero without the suit is awesome. The only reason people hate it is because of the twist. 9. Peggy Carter >>>>>>>>>>> Pepper Pots 10. The correct movie viewing order is release order 11. Rocket Racoon (while I love him) is overrated 12. Quicksilver was not a bad character, he just died too soon 13. Ultron is a legitimately intimidating villain, even with his quips 14. Civil War (great movie) is a bit overrated 15. Iron Man was not a villain in Civil War

Agree 1. Definitely. He did the same when he learned his father killed his mother. He always has that impulsive nature. 10. Although I've never heard anyone seriously advocate for chronological 15.Again I've never heard this. Most would agree it's Zemo Disagree 5. I think Cate Blanchett does really well with the role tbh. It's more of an old school classic supervillain role but I think it fits the film as the focus is more on Thor's hero journey and fulfilling the prophecy 14. Hard disagree here. It's one of the most rewatchable for me. Trying to figure out where I would stand and if I would do the same as the characters at each crossroad is fascinating

1. Facts 2. Nonsense, all 4 Avengers movie show why they're so important to the team 9. Isn't a hot take at all.Peggy is easily the best love interest in the MCU she got a short film and 2 seasons of tv show outside her recurring appearances in the MCU 5. Agreed Hela is just another generic villain with very little substance and is only redeemed by Blanchett's performance 14. No, in fact it has become a bit underappreciated since 2016 despite still being considered one of the MCU's best films 15. Thank you, there's a difference between an antagonist and a villain

Hot take: Avengers Age of Ultron is a bit underrated. The reason is because since it's the worst of the Avengers quadrilogy, people assume it's bad. But it's a good movie. Number 2, Captain Marvel is also underrated and is also a good movie. Number 3, Venom is great.

Not very comparable Both are now the faces of their respective characters. There is no Tony Stark but Rdj and there is no Logan but Hugh Jackman. Same with Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Chris Hems as Thor.

Incredible thing is, Wolverine's doesn't look like Hugh Jackman at all in the 1st place, but this man's so dedicated and talented that he made the character his own. If you want to compare to Rdj as Tony Stark, I'd say that he did manage to deliver a perfect character true to the comics (except for the alcolic part), whereas Hugh might have change his character forever (even tho a Tom Hardy Comic book accurate Wolverine would be interesting to see, if he does something different than Hugh)

Apparently a hot take: Endgame is better than Infinity War. I just love the smaller, more personal moments such as Tony meeting his dad and Cap seeing Peggy through the glass. I enjoyed that more than the nonstop action of Endgame which I also enjoyed.

I love Terrance Howard but his Rhodes was a shit friend(not that he had any say so on that.) He immediately turned his back on Tony Stark and wouldn’t even listen to his pitch or his explanation and just basically told him that he was crazy. Don Cheadle’s Rhodey is the exact opposite. He’s had Tony’s back no matter what.

I have one: I have always enjoyed X-Men: The Last Stand. I understand it's corny and they kill Cyclops and Xavier too early and every other criticism people throw at it. I think the action scenes stand out very well, it is more colorful than the other x-men films, Kelsey Grammer was a phenomenal Beast, and I was never a big fan of that version of Cyclops anyway.

honestly same. i saw the movie for the first time as a kid and i had never seen a huge final battle so it was so mind blowing to me (you can imagine how i felt watching endgame lol) and i have a lot of nostalgia and love for it. same thing with the star wars prequels. are they great story wise? not really, but as a kid?? epic lightsaber fights?? yoda doing backflips??? i love it to this day

My Superhero Movie Hot Takes: -The Ant-Man films are incredibly underrated -Age of Ultron is fantastic -The Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy is great, but overrated -The best DC movie is Watchmen -X-Men: Apocalypse is pretty good -Infinity War and Endgame equally incredible -The Dark Knight Rises is a bit overrated -The best 4 MCU films are the ones the Russo Brothers directed -Venom is good

Seriously, dude, you should watch MatPat's theory on Spider-Man 2. It might help you understand how the power loss thing works. He's not "bummed out" he has PTSD which ends up affecting his physical health by removing his powers. Once he loses his powers, he takes the time to get the help he needs by taking care of himself. He gets his homework done, gets to class, gets outside, and once his mental health is better, his physical health improves as well in the form of his powers returning.

FINALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH for the Incredible Hulk and Ed Norton support, so many people bash Hulk's movie just because there's a hate train, but it's genuinely such an underrated film that actually has multiple scenes that tie it into the MCU very effectively too

I think black panther is annoyingly overrated. Please tell me someone else agrees! TH has better chemistry and more realistic interaction's with RDJ and is way more of a military man but I can't imagine him with the other avengers and as war machine. DC doesn't have good realistic relationship with RDJ and isn't really a military man but he does blend in with the avengers and is better as a superhero

I’ve heard too many people call it overrated, which makes me wonder if it was ever overrated to begin with. For better or worse, the movie is culturally significant, and while I don’t consider it a masterpiece, I think it deserved the attention it got in that sense.

It's not even that Mark Ruffulo was bad, but the MCU just ruined Hulk so much. I mean, Edward Norton is my favourite actor, but I don't think a superhero movie suits him, though he wasn't bad of course.

Actually, I kinda take what I said about Edward playing a superhero back. If Edward Norton's Hulk was a stand alone thing and not part of the MCU and it continued in its own franchise, it would have actually been the perfect superhero for him to play, seeing as he's known for doing dual personality roles (Primal Fear, Fight Club).

Mark Ruffalo's version of Bruce Banner was perfect in Avengers 1 (and 2 even). But he started to really really annoyed me in Ragnarok and I hated him in Infinity War.. It's like it's not the same character anymore. And yes I loved Norton's version and his look as Hulk was soooo much more badass imo (especially his facial look)

I think Happy said that because even though Peter isn't worthy of the glasses at the beginning, he grows into them and tony knew that because he was the same way, he wasn't worthy of his armor until he grew into it

Totally agree about the Incredible Hulk and spider man 2. On the flip side I think Far from Home has the best character development of any spider man film to date. Also Winter Soldier is 3rd all time in the MCU for me, I enjoy the emotional stakes and how it sets up the philosophical and ethical dilemma of what defines freedom, protection, and security.

Hard agree: GOTG2 is super distasteful; Edward Norton’s Banner/Hulk has so much more pathos than Ruffalo’s. Hard disagree: Blade 3 is unwatchable; Winter Soldier is the best MCU movie; and Days of Future Past is my favorite comic movie of all time 😅 Soft agree: Far from Home is good popcorn but not a great Spider-Man film nor a great Endgame follow-up; Incredible Hulk is overhated but to me the first half works far better than the second half. Soft disagree: Spider-Man 2’s depowering plot is imperfect but emotionally lands; Ronan is soooo boring that I just can’t put him above Ego; I’m invested in Cheadle as War Machine.

Winter Soldier isn't supposed to be about character development though, it changes the world around the characters instead, and it works wonders.

I liked the slower pace of Endgame. Infinity War turns into a cycle of jump to this side story and now jump to this side story and now jump to this side story, etc.. 'til the end. And some were more interesting than others.
