There is another mistake that may seem obvious but, that is unfortunately not so rare. It is to lie for fear of looking incompetent when you can't find the answer to some of the customer's questions. Some consultants prefer to say that "the system can't do that" when the customer asks them for a hypothetical software feature they don't know if it exist. In most cases, the customer will not discover the lie because of the complexity of today's systems. But this is detrimental to the software, to the integrator, and especially to the consultant's career in the long run, unfortunately.
