4:38 my weakness is that I don't interview well. Once I have the position I don't have a problem communicating. It just the interview process that gives me anxiety.
That shows the employer that you cant work in unfamilar conditions under pressure, if you cant get into a room full of strangers and discuss your background, how are you going to do that while on the job, discussing more complex ideas of which you may have limited familiarity…
I have an interview tomorrow that I’m dreading. I have such a hard time interviewing bad anxiety. I forget about everything I’m gonna say, start stuttering, sweating it’s bad I can show you better than I can tell you.
I just stumbled on your videos, as I couldn’t relate to the shouting man, or a woman from the UK. You’re so relatable to me and deliver information I need for a big interview on Monday. I’ll now be looking at additional videos. Thank you so much!
Agree so much 😂 And he's like "say this" Then some stupid stuff followed by "this meant I single handedly increased the profit of the company by 123425836663%" This isn't real life
I used your question in my high leadership interview: "Is there anything you see on my resume preventing me from being considered for this job?" The executive leadership panel looked shocked, stumbled on their words, and stated that it was the best question they had ever heard from all their interviews. They finally responded, I countered and sold myself, and within 4 hours I was called and offered the job! You are right, this question sealed the deal, I think! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
4:46 "I have a lot of ideas and opinions, so when asked for group input in meetings I have the urge to want to jump right in with what I’ve got. I learned a while back that 1. Some folks take a little longer to process a question, 2. People can be quite put-off by someone who always pipes up first up with ideas, and 3. Not every opinion needs to be heard. I’ve learned to give others space to give their input first, before I give my own every time." OMG did I need to hear that, interview or not. I'll be interviewing soon, and not only is this a great answer, it's an EXCELLENT reminder for me personally about something I already struggle with. Thank you for quantifying it the way you have. I've worked in places where that didn't happen and others where it did, but thinking about it the way you've put it here gives me the "structure" I need to act right and not become perceived as a know-it-all. Certain people can seriously hurt you if they have a grudge against you.
this video helped me get my job!! tip: study the job description and focus on how your experience directly relates and transferable skills. I finally got a job after months of interviewing! Thank you for your videos :)
Thank you so much for your videos. I was able to use these videos to dust off my skills and land a job after months of searching. Salary negotiation helped me not get low balled. You are truly amazing.
i have an interview on wednesday and if my interviewer decides to randomly ask this i would probably say my biggest pet peeve is bad communication.. which is so true but also a good answer for a job interview
My problem with interviews is that it feels like a manipulation game from both sides. As an interviewee, I have no interest in constructing some narrative around my life so I can easily answer tired questions. I especially don't want to feel like I'm walking on a land mine having to choose my language. I'd rather be as honest as possible and not get the job.
I had the same feelings, but it is a game and we need to play it. The problem is we may not have the rule book. The best thing is to take charge at the beginning, begin with small talk, or point out some cool thing in their office. My goal is always to try to keep the conversation going or build rapport, it gets me the job offer more often than not. The more rapport you have the more it doesn't feel like an interview, but an actual conversation. And also remember, "It's nothing personal, it's just business."
Good advices here 👍and I'll add "be yourself" and you'll most likely get the job! Remember, whatever you say in an interview you'll have to commit to it when you've actually got the job, so be careful not to exagorate and cross that fine line between "confidence" and "lying"!
I’m going for an interview on Tuesday, I will update you on the outcome with an honest answer. I am 54 and only do menial jobs so really not hopeful because ageism is rife in Britain!
its sad that even menial jobs nowadays require you to answer questions as if you're trying to work at NASA. we're just trying to put things in boxes or peel something for 8 hours, its not that deep EMPLOYERS!!
Thank you, thank you for not asking yourself a question and then answering it (like the others), i loved how you walked through the questions with explanations and you started the video right to the topic and not 2 minutes of how we can promote you. I'm now a loyal follower.
What if you honestly cannot think of a situation to answer a question? For example, I have never had to deal with a conflict with a coworker. There have been times when personalities differ but it never got to a point where I'd call it a conflict.
This is such a great and informative video! I'm grateful for you and your time. I feel like I am more prepared for my interview! Thank you for your expertise! 😊
This video was super helpful. I love how you were direct and gave examples of how to answer that could apply to every job. I’m interviewing to be an ambassador, I have a good feeling it will go well thanks to you!
I feel like this is very dependent on the recruitment process. Having interviewed within the same company for years with the managers in charge of various departments (and interviewing candidates myself), I can tell you they don't know what answers to expect. HR might give a list of questions but your overall attitude and demeanour is relevant
These are great tips! I have all the charisma and confidence in interviews but after hearing your answers I'm definitely failing every question they're asking me in interviews. Have an interview later today hope I do well.
@@mrs.dontmindme6542 that interview went terrible I did however get the job but then was sent a very sketchy contract in which I declined and then ended up getting a call for a job I interviewed for a month prior and took that job.
Thank you! I had my interview yesterday with Dept. of Education - almost none of the questions I practiced were what they asked me ha! But I still felt prepared going into it
New subscriber here! So happy I found your channel. This video was excellent and exactly what I needed today. I look forward to immersing myself in more of your content so I can "get out there" with confidence. Thank you!
Thank you sooo very much case for making this very helpful video! I have an interview today with a company that is potentially a huge step in my career path as well as financial stability , and I have been struggling in my interviews mostly due to anxiety! But you have simplified everything for me and also my recent interview I had and failed entirely! ; I was asked what is my weakness and also what is my 5 year goal plan. I unfortunately over explained myself and went off subject 🤦🏼♀️ so I am super thankful for your advice and I plan on using these strategies in my interview today! Your great! Keep up with what you’re doing!
I feel your pain, I broke out into a horrible sweat once the HR Manager started asking me scenario questions with a grading scale. I completely lost it and started yammering and flubbed the entire interview. Have another one Thursday so I'm trying to prepare myself. Good luck to you btw!!!
Hi Cass , thanks for the tutorial. A tip on on weakness, esp with me. My ability to market myself effectively. This job offered is in line with my major skills but it is a step in marketing myself effectively. This might be a bit dangerous as a weekness but true. Regards Ant.
Thanks for your videos! I went in today and he didn’t ask any of those questions it was actually nice.. I’m pretty sure I failed because I had to tell them if I’m allergic to dogs cause the owner brings his in.. well I am.. so kind of a bummer, other than that I nailed the qualifications, but off to the next job search.
all of my previous jobs were a good distance from my house and i ended up being let go for my unstable attendance so i applied to jobs closer to home and let them know it's a short walk away
Been looking for this video for so long So many other "model answers" are so unrealistic and stupid that I leave the video even less confident about what I should say
What am i supposed to say when (im older) the longest job ive kept is 4 years. I live the company i am currently with and am interviewing for a different dept that my diverse experience can be applied.
I asked an interviewie the 5 year goal question, and he said, "Sitting in your chair." It was not the best answer, even if it was hyperbole, but I think he was serious 🤔
Good Thursday morning Cass Thompson Career, I NEED YOUR HELP FOR UPA SSING the INTERVIEW and HAVED TOURIST VISA FO R US, I HOPE YOU CAN HE LP ME. THANK U Cass Tho mpson & Good Mornng
4:06 "We all see thru that NOW" This can give you a clue that interviewing is more about tricking the interviewer until this trick gets exposed, and then you gotta find a less common one. Such a meaningless bubble, but we gotta do it.
I’ve been unemployed since March of 2023 if I’m asking a Question if tell me about your self I did work on the ramp for 2 and a half years what do I say
Thank you, good information. Please consider training your voice to sound less harsh. It may be your dialect, but aim for a newscaster's voice for professional work.
I feel like interviewers should scrutinize a candidates work history, but should also equally scrutinize their previous employer/company. Sometimes you have a great candidate who has had a few jobs just not work out because of awful employers. If the company they previously worked for has super high turnover and is constantly advertising for the position that should be a clue as to maybe they are justified for leaving a position.
I always find myself thinking the same for videos I watch, you can actually go into settings on the video and bump the playback speed up. I usually use 1.5x or 1.75x
I already think she's talking more then fast enough on this video at regular speed but different views ig I wouldn't be able to grasp the information if it was any faster
