Dracdoc's Top 10 Most Complimented Fragrances - 2013 10) Chambre Noire 9) Green Irish Tweed - Creed 8) Le Male 7) The One - DG 6) Dior Homme Intense 5) Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille 4) Allure Homme Edition Blanche 3) Reserve for Men - EXpress 2) L’Homme - YSL 1) L-Humaniste Frapin
Great list Cody. I have many of these fragrances and I agree with you. Here's my list: 1. Dior Homme (Reformulated) 2. Creed Aventus 3. Amouage Reflection Man 4. Creed GIT 5. A*Men 6. A*Men Pure Malt 7. Dior Homme Intense 8. Dolce and Gabbana the One 9. Creed Virgin Island Water 10. Creed Royal Oud Just bought Frapin 1270 and I can tell this will get me compliments Dior Homme Reformulated gets me a ton of compliments. Less iris and a bit more cacao than the original version. It's like a toned-down version of DHI
Jose Vancouver how can I know it is the reformulated version or not, iv smelled the vial & its smells like a new clinics or hospitals but I kinda luv it
The reformulated version has a black stem, whereas the vintage version has a steel stem (check out fragrantica to see what the bottles look like). I've owned the vintage version and it seemed to have a bit more iris and less cacao than the reformulated version. I just found it a bit too feminine compared to the more recent bottles. I will say that the newer bottles apparently smell closer to the vintage version - maybe they reformulated it again?
This summer I've gotten much attention with D&G's Light Blue Living Stromboli. I never expected it to pull as much as it did, I was stunned actually. It's a slept on scent, highly recommended though. You made me dust off my L'Humaniste for my SOTD tomorrow!
So how does compliment works for fragrances? It all depends on your type of personality, how you dress, the people around you and what occasion it is. Personality: Even if you have the best fragrance in the world, if you have a introvert personality, you will not likely receive compliments from others as people see you as unfriendly to talk to and comment on your smell and fragrance. Dress: If you dress nice like a suit and tie or a tuxedo, people are more likely to compliment you. This is because all their senses are heighten including smell when they see you dress nice and out of the ordinary. The people around you: If you are around friends and family, or even someone who is outspoken, you will receive more compliment as they are not afraid and comfortable to share their opinion. Occasion: If you in an bar scene, work, college classes or on a date, you are more likely to receive compliments as you are closer to people and there for some period of time to leave a nice silage around you. Even if its a happy and a open situation. Expectation: Don't expect people to fall head over heels for you fragrance the moment you wear it. Hope this help and stay classy.
Funny you said that about TV, I do get more compliments as well when I wear shirt and tie or a suite. Great list Cody. Express reserve, what a great scent.
A fragrance doesn't have to project for somebody to smell it. When I say project, I mean that somebody who you are not interacting with can smell you from x feet away. When you talk to people directly and up close, they smell you. When you pass by them and leave your sillage trail, they smell you. Fragrances that don't have monster projection and STILL get compliments stand out to me.
I been watching your videos for a while now and have been collecting frags and every frag I got is just from watching your reviews and that gave me a very good idea what to buy . Some of the frags you showed in you video I have in my collection and I was very glad to see Dior Homme Intense in your review but anyways good job dracdoc .
i like how you put in the time numbers for each fragrance...great idea! by the way have you ever tried the Baldessarini Hugo Boss for men! Very unique! take care and great vids
Anyone of those above I would consider a compliment. For the most part, I consider unsolicited ones compliments at the moment (IE no prompting from me)
I use L'Homme and was my signature this year also...Thanks for making this vid.I forgot about Chambre Noire....But plan on ordering a sample of that&The new lab on fire rose scent. Not sure if I'll do a "Frag Report" On Chambre yet but either way I'll let you know what I think.Great list bro....take care
Great list man... I had a comment explosion while wearing L`Humaniste this year... Was walking to beach on Vacation in NC... There where quite a few people... One lady finally commented and then everyone else (women and men alike) chimed in on how good it smelt... One guy came up to me when we got to the beach to ask me where he could buy it... (MinNY take notice I sent you some business... LOL!!!) But yeah that was probably the best 'comment bomb' I've had... L`Humaniste smells awesome...
Great list. I don't have a top 10 but I get most of my compliments on Perry Ellis M, Chanel Bleu, and Canali Black Diamond. If you haven't smelled Black Diamond then get your nose on it. I think it smells great but your nose is much more sophisticated and experienced than mine :)
Creed Avenuts, Vetiver Fatal, L'Homme, Cruel Intentions, Royal Oud, Bleu and Bois D'Argent. It is tough with some frags because the misses like me with Vetiver Fatal and L'Homme and each time I step out with Avenuts, I get that mob flood of compliments
Glad to see Allure Homme Edition Blanche on #4!!!! It's my favorite fragrance and no one else has it here in Puerto Rico : D (had to order it online). I work in a big 4 CPA firm and everyone loves this fragrance (clients and co-workers alike) I am just hoping they never discontinue it and just keep it at limited distribution like now... or else... I will be very very very sad.
That's a fantastic comment! Wanting to ask the exact same question. I'm planning to buy the intense version. I really, really like the original L'homme, but it doesn't last at all on my skin, unfortunately.
Thanks man! I gotta say.. Musc ravageur is STILL my favorite fragrance.. though I don't get as many compliments with it as I would like. But I really give a rats ass... my confidence goes through the roof when I wear it
Why are there 500 different people on RU-vid posting their Top 5 or Top 10 most complimented fragrances, yet rarely having anything substantive to say about them? It's always about their need to get compliments, not about why they truly love a fragrance. Wear something because you love how it smells, not because you're starved for compliments.
Great video!! Just a quick question is your le male a EDT or EDP ?? I've recently bought le male EDT its genuine but i didn't think it smelt that good anymore compared to how it smelt years ago,do i need to buy the EDP ?? or has the smell of le male changed.?? also i didn't think it lasted as long as it used to.!:(
I know it's over played and very mainstream but for good reason it just gets compliments with the general public AKA Bleu de Chanel! PS How close was Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme to make the list? I seen it did very well in your review, thank-you.
"When you pass by them and leave your sillage trail, they smell you." What perfume leave that sillage trail, i know its a silly quesition because mostly "all" of them leave, but which are the ones who leave a nicely smell, even from an x distance
What do you consider a complement? a stranger that approaches you to compliment your fragrance? or your mom, or girlfriend, or the girl at work that has the hots for you, or one of your buddies?
Great list! I would suggest to separate the list into designer and niche just for the fact of price: honestly I will not buy something so low in the list for $300 and even worse can be confused with Cool Water.
Simple. 1. People love to hear what fragrances get compliments, because smelling good to others.. matters for them. 2. These are top 10's, not substantial reviews. If you want substance regarding each fragrance you are better served looking up the actual fragrance and watching a review. Top 10 lists are specifically NOT supposed to be reviews. 3. People wear fragrances for different reasons, Art/Compliments/For themsleves. You'll just have to live with it. Hope that helps!
personally the most i get compliments with are Le Male by Gaultier and Joop! Homme... i also get compliments when i wear Ted Lapidus Homme and Dolce&Gabanna Light Blue... D&G The One smells great but has longevity issues...
My number one complimented sent is by far a layered combination of Jo Malone Blue Agave & Cocao underneath a spritz of Jo Malone Pomegranete Noir. Hits Better than GIT, Royal Oud, La Nuit, Aventus and all my 40+ other fragrances. Also try adding Pomegranette Noir on top of TV if you want to take the black hole darkness off that scent. Don't everyone go stealing my trade secret now :-)
I'd like to hear you review Prada Luna Rossa Extreme at some point if you have time. It's a bit like the original but peppery and more masculine. I'll forewarn you though....it's an eau de parfum, not an eau de toilette and it's potent as hell. Spray lightly. Lol. It's the only cologne I've ever purchased that projects as well as Aventus. Hope you enjoy if you decide to try it. To my nose, it's a more masculine, darker Le Male with a couple of twists, one being the lavender.
why is frapin #1 so expensive and hard to find? there's only one listing on it for Amazon. another thing, I love fragrances that are subtle and sweet. I like the tobacco & vanilla chocolate type vibes. i don't have any experience with the expensive fragrance brands at all. I do want to try tobacco vanille but I haven't gotten a chance yet. is there any other brands at all that might be similar to that vibe I'm looking for? like a bond no. 9 or creed? ps: I want to try frapin L'H
Yo bro, how long does Acqua di Gio Pour Homme last? I owned paco rabanne 1 million, was satisfied with the results, even got compliments from girls, but i want a perfume that would be just as paco rabanne, speaking of longivity, projection, and im thinking Acqua di gio would be good. Leave a reply, thanks :)
i like calvin klein the one but hate the fact it never holds like u can apply it on u but never holds at all i'm a huge fan of cologne i have curve appeal the oroginal curve and others
great friend, I need tips for acquiring new perfumes. I already have these: day: versace pour homme and light & blue Joker: individuel night and ballads: chic and there nuit Please indicate me more 2 each. big hug.
hey i have a question im trying to buy creed but here where i live theres not creed sores so im trying to buy online like fragrancenet but dont know if i shall buy from them
Hi drac I really like your reviews but I got really confused by D&G the one Eau de toilette as well as ysl la nuit de l'homme, cause Both are good but my concern is about, which one of them last longer(for more period of time) and which one is more attractive and gain more compliment in your opinion?
You need to try it on you skin to determine longevity. I have reviews on both, in which I say how long they last on my skin. As far as more compliments, Their both up there.. its really about you.
Could you sell the amber color, black box, express by express reserve cologne for men ? It isn´t the white liquid, but the previous edition, amber liquid which I am looking for.
For sure. I love Musc R..my favorite.. I don't get as much compliments with it as I would like. Wouldn't call it rare, but certainly not as much as I think I would. Same is true on the opposite side.. YSL Body Kouros is a chick compliment magnent.. and I dislike the smell.
