Since I come from a family which built traditional Maltese boats, I designed and built all the boats that I owned which were between 10 to 20 feet. Some of the people I know do own large yachts. Once I was talking to one owner whom I knew since we were very young and I complimented him for his beautiful new acquisition. This is what he said, " Yes, it is a beautiful craft, but you know you enjoy your small boat more often than I do, as you do not need anyone to sail with, you launch and retrieve your boat in a few minutes and you can beach your boat anywhere you like, and in summer I see you going out of the harbor almost every day at a speed much faster than mine reaching any bay in Malta and Gozo under one hour. .......... all that which I cannot do with my nice yacht!"

Lurssen are amazing. They make awesome boats! My dad's a consultant engineer and worked on half of these - never gonna afford one though are we....! Can't even get it on GTA :/ :P

#7 - "A" is pretty interesting looking. I first saw a picture of it in St Vincent and the Grenadines, and I thought it looked like a seagull. Definitely one of the more distinct yachts out there.

Was gonna say what's the point of having a yacht but I think its some kind trophy to the extremely rich. I need to be on one to see what's all the fuss is about.

Dubai also has I think 5 restaurants on it and the king only uses it supposedly 3 times a year. I saw it docked at his private islands

I've actually seen radiant in person on my holiday in ibiza around 2 weeks ago. It was amazing and made the other huge yachts look tiny

they seem to lack the inspiration to come up with good names for their super luxe yachts tho :D

I hate it when people mistake length for size. Azzam is the longest yach in the world, but only the 3rd largest at 13.8k gross tons. Dilbar is the World's Largest Yacht at 15.9k gross tons.

One Million Dollars + per foot is a easy rule of thumb for the Super Yachts sailing the High Seas. I spotted Miss Moneypenny V docked at the Chelsea Piers yesterday. Although not in the class of the Super Yacht, Moneypenny is a stealthy 49.90 M with a pricetag of $19.5 Million.

So, I used to own a couple of them, but I sold them and instead reinvested my money into a permanent ownership of a grand suite on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Because I fell down, hit my head, and realized that for $10m / year, it was cheaper to rent.

Number 2, Eclipse has a restaurant on it? What does this mean? Is this "restaurant" open to the public? If so, I guess that's one way to help pay for your $800 million boat.

The number two yacht, Eclipse, was built for $500 million in 2010 so I'm assuming someone is translating the price up to current value? I just came back from St Maarten where it was parked outside our condo in Simpson Bay. Abromovich anchors near the airport to pick up guests who fly in, then are taken to his home on St Barts. Interestingly, the largest sailing yacht in the world 'A' owned by billionaire Melnechenko was parked near it. Must be a Russian thing.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have nice things, but this is in excess. There are people including children who don't have clean water to drink and go to bed hungry. I hope these billionaires are doing something to help those situations first. Obviously not, because that kind of money would cure all the worlds hunger. It's disgusting.
