I grew up in Cape Town during the sixties through to the eighties. The Cape Flats was a no-go area for white folks as we also had the problem of Apartheid to contend with at the time. I remember the notorious ''Meat Wagons' driving, sometimes in convoy to collect dead bodies after the weekend on Monday mornings . Thomas's middle name is Geweld , in African Dutch (Afrikaans ) this means 'Violence ' Perhaps his parents had a foreboding...

The law says that parents are responsible for the children education, but when laws are created to control any motion of responsible parents who get in trouble or are put in situation of quiz. The law reinforces by police officer who follow order like child for a paycheck get to your door or destroy it with pretension of a crime committed. Now the parents are under control of some bureaucrat that at some point maybe lacking experience on how to raise a child but read how to in a book. I talk with actual experience.
