Good evening Jeff. You bet that I would never bail on your channel. It has always been one of my favorites. I was waiting and waiting while I was watching you take out one gem after another. But the one artist that I was hoping you were going to show was not being shown? Yet. Then there it is. The last of the ten albums that your turntable mat has graced with spins. From Elvis in Memphis. I don't really know this album. But I do know one or two of the songs on it. I have always appreciated Elvis's Gospel sounding numbers. I think the song 'True Love Travels On A Gravel Road' is one of them. His voice is so so good on it. I was fortunate to have seen the Animals Tour at Boston Garden in 1977. One of the first ten live shows that I ever saw and one of the better ones at the Garden. The band was playing better than ever and the crowd was really into it. Whenever I hear the album it always takes me back to that show and that time period. >< Really liked your picks Jeff. There were a few surprises too. I wasn't expecting the Alice Cooper and the Social D. >< Hope you are enjoying the endless summer 23. It goes by fast. So keep on enjoying it to the fullest~ Rob/Boston
I'm glad you had that Neil Young alongside some newer ones there. I can only think of couple i would, did put into my top ten from this century and those I've still had ages to listen to them cheers Jeff.
Thanks Martin. Neil has terrific slower, acoustic albums (On the Beach is my fav Neil album) but they’re frequency of listening is more spread out. RG is always my go-to for some Horse.
Jeff, solid pile of records. Nothing I haven't heard of. The only one l wouldn't have is the Floyd. George is my favourite Beatle too. Social distortion are superb. Let it bleed ❤
Great list Jeff! Stand outs for me Streetcore is just superb, a top 5 album ever for me. Love it to Death is my ‘go to’ Alice. All Things is a classic. I also think that Jimmy Miller period of the Stones is there best with Sticky and Goats being the most listened to for me, although favourite Stones song is Gimme Shelter. I bet you can’t wait for Hackney Diamonds!! Mike
Good to see you back Jeff!. Some belters in there...All Things Must Pass, Ragged Glory is terrific, takes me back to when I was sharing a house with a work colleague and he played that CD all the time. Animals doesn't always get big love on the VC, getting eclipsed in favour of DSOTM and Wish You Were Here etc..for me, Sheep is the killer track on that album. Yes!..Goat Heads' Soup is my favourite..Coming Down Again and Winter. Fantastic. All the best.
Totally totally dig Roxy🎶✊🏻...I see I have some sampling to do especially the first two...oh yes yes yes Animals, the first time I heard it back in my youth I was hooked and still DO feel it to be my fav...the group was into a real groove.....ooooooooooooooo hehehe need I say who I’m excited about??? What a beautiful Canadian ☮️✌🏻....I see Chet Baker on the floor, I’ve circled it but never pulled the trigger....ahhhhh my my my so great to see the Dead here but then I shouldn’t be surprised 😁...that last one I bet will sound soooo good ...cheers my friend have a most excellent and enlightening weekend- 🙏🏻☀️✨🎶😎
Ya you sure have to question some of the choices made about singles being included or left off of albums back then. For me, Country Honk is a dirty and sloppy fit, perfect for the album.
I have not replied to this thread.....just too much work for me to figure out a top ten. And, I wouldn't have any confidence that any list I come up with would be valid next week. lol But, if someone asks me, I think I'll just refer them to this video. "Watch Jeff's video....we have the same top ten." That's only a slight exaggeration. I don't have the Elvis or Neil Young/Crazy Horse records, but otherwise we could have the same picks. Enjoyed the video Jeff!
My favourite Neil albums are One the Beach, Tonight’s the Night and After the Gold Rush. So when it comes to rocking it out with the Horse, Ragged Glory is Shakey’s go-to. Happens to be a nice German pressing, too.
Great stack Jeff. A few I'll be on the lookout for. I just found a pretty clean copy of All Things and Concert for Bangladesh as a set for a good price. George is my favorite Beatle. Did you see Jamie called you out to make a video and I'm glad he did 😊. Greg
Hi Greg. I did and was meaning to shout him out in the video and I forgot. My first video in months, so the rust resurfaced. We met for a dig and lunch yesterday, so my backup opportunity is coming! ;)
I'm gonna order " Streetcore" right now.. It's just not good enough to have it on Cd ! LoL !! 😅 Anything Social D is alright by me ! I gravitate towards live Grateful Dead music, but.. Dead Seet from 1980 is the one I listened to a whole lot.. ( 40 shows with Jerry ).. and others ! Nice showing, really enjoyed it. ✌️
Well said ! Live Dead music is where it's at ! I still have all of my Dan Healy soundboard tapes.. My favorite is. 10/10/80 Warfield Theatre 2nd Set. Only available as a free share online ! The Jack Straw into Scarlet> Fire is soo tight and incredible, the transition between is otherworldly ! Please check ot out..✌️
Streetcore is essential! Avalon is a record I have played so many times. Animals too! That might be my most played Sabbath record. These are all great records.
My list: Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon Supertramp - Crime of the century Dire Straits - eponymus Steely Dan - Can´t buy a thrill The Beatles - Sgt Pepper´s lonely heart club band The Smiths - The Queen is dead The Waterboys - This is the Sea Pavlov´s Dog - Pampered Menial Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea Pixies - Doolittle Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Pink Floyd - The Wall Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Yes - Close to the Edge
If you've never listened to Social distortions Mommy's little monster please do so. I consider it THEE Punk album of the 80s I think they just released the 40th anniversary edition....
