Most played is an interesting value for a list. I'd like to know, but it is unlikely that I can if a list like that could be compared to the quantity produced. A game that has a printing of 50k copies will most likely be played more than a game with 5k copies on the market. 50k game is a better seller than the 5k game, but that value will distort the quantity of "plays" .
Thanks! I thought so as well. Was fun to do. All lists are subjective and the purpose of the list is to pinpoint the games which are getting the most plays from my community. A whole list of 20 is in the pinned comment and the types of games are varied which is cool to see!
After trawling many videos I am still amazed at the choices available but there is little in the way of beginners info. I have recently found myself with a ton of spare time so am looking for a couple of solo games. I used to play Warhammer and 40K so am used to following rules sets. Any of these games suitable for beginners?
🤣 Sounds like you might need that Marvel Zombies insert I showed recently. It'll help with that! Those Zombicide games sprawl over the table pretty fast haha
Thanks for the time and the work you put into your videos and creating content for the community. I don't play much solo but I love many of these games nevertheless and I can understand the appeal of the solo experience. I never got into CTG's games, and Oathsworn _really_ fell flat for me, but Nemesis, Frosthaven (prob my #1), ATO, MU, MD2 and Heat are all good choices, and _EVENTUALLY_ my ISS Vanguard should arrive (pledged in 2020 😭).
I appreciate that! You've got awesome picks in your list as well. Happy you found the games that click for you. That's what matters most as these lists are meant to guide you to games you may like. Cheers!
I call it the "initial rush bias", games people have played a few times, many of which come out near the end of the year. I see this a lot in top 10 lists that come out at the end of the year. The way you do it takes that into consideration, I like this, everybody should do this.
You may think that but it's not the case. Every game gets 1-3 plays each but if it's no good, in almost all cases it dies right there. People don't stink plays into games they don't enjoy. While the initial rush bias is present in all games, this list shows the ones that got played the most that pushed past that initial rush bias. Meaning they were enjoying it and wanted to see more. Thanks for watching!
Gonna go out on a limb and say that #15 & #19 shouldn't actually both be the same game 🤔😉 Or maybe it's just a plot to tease me over the fact that it always sends to be out of stock here in the uk 🤣 (I do have the heart version though, maybe that's what should be in one of these positions?)
Another "Top Ten" list....I cant get enough of them! ISS Vanguard would be MY most played game of 2023 also. I loved the video game "XCOM" and ISS Vanguard is the closest I have seen in a board game yet! I was not aware that AEON Trespass was so highly rated.....but now I will definitely check it out on "Rolling Solo" One of the reasons I love the top 10 lists....I find out about games that were "under my radar" Thanks so much for doing all these top 10 lists! I watch every one of them!
Awesome to hear people enjoying the lists from the community. Lots of great recent games to check out and from the past. It’s a win when I can help someone find a new game they like. ATO is a solid pick. See you around!😄👍🏼
Thanks Kris! I’ll take it. 🙂 Most played meaning a high number of plays which inherently means it’s fun and worth playing. As we all know, if a game doesn’t click…it sits and then it’s sold. So a Most Played list will highlight the games that have staying power. That’s my take. 😄
@@RollingSolo makes sense. Some games I've played a ton, I did so just to see if it would finally get better. I've heard ISS gets very repetitive. I'm hoping it's worth it, I need to start my campaign.
A friend and myself have been looking for a racing board game and never heard about Heat. I'll buy it as soon as I can, being able to play it solo is a huge plus!
You might assume campaign games have a bit of an edge but as you'll see in the pinned comment (open and scroll way down)...positions 11-20 show a different story. Out of the Top 20, it was very even and slightly leans more towards non-campaign games which means people were enjoying their time with them!
I watch many of your playthrough videos, Adam. Especially if I buy a new game and I want to know how it plays before it hits the family table. But it takes me at least 3 days to finish a video. Why? because I usually watch them before I sleep and your voice makes me fall asleep faster than anything I've ever come across and I'm in my late 30's. Not sure if this counts as a compliment or not, since I could end up not watching a given video. Haha. It's actually time for me to sleep where I live. So, good night and keep up the good work! :)
haha! I’ve also fallen asleep to playthroughs at times as well. I try not to during the playthrough because it gets awkward 😜 But on a serious note, watching any board game late at night is like reading a book before bed…it’s game over real quick! 😴
@@RollingSolo I played it solo with 4 heroes, so that was challenging, yet fun. I enjoyed the boss battles more than the interactive story parts. I would have preferred a very well written story between the boss battles, but it didn't bother me the way it was. I enjoyed the cool down and card play and the boss cards and mechanisms. The minis were very nice and I didn't open them until the game had me to, so each was a surprise. I doubt I'll play it again, but would do so immediately if there was a new campaign. I got Vanguard while I was in the middle of playing Oathsworn, so I simply set it aside for later. Then, I was playing Kinfire and Earthborne Rangers, Unsettled, Obsession, and..... (too many games!) Now that I've seen Vanguard at #1 most played for 2023 I'm thinking - what was I waiting for? So, hopefully I can get to it soon.
Love this! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. ISS Vanguard has a lot to explore. Curious to see what you think of ISS Vanguard once you get more time with it. Most really enjoy it but some have said it can drag at times. I assume this is likely common for a campaign game though. Sort of goes with the territory as long as it's not constant.
I hate to "spoil the party" but most played does not equal best. Case in point ISS vanguard. I played it (the full gameplay of the core campaign). I was playing with great satisfaction until a determined scenario that completely blew it for me and it just revealed to me that no matter what your gameplay is, the story will move forward. I get it that you are the captain of the ISS Vanguard, but I felt that the people that made my "crew" were important, until the game/story just started treating them as cannon fodder, because "who care if this guy dies, just to get me a nice option later on". The second half of the game was terribly disappointing for me leaving me with the feeling that I just had to finish it up and sell it quickly because I was starting to get nauseous just reading it. For me the gameplay is fun (except for the "combat" which is awful), and they should have made it more about the exploration, than anything else.
Bang on Aaron. 😄👍🏼 “Most Played” doesn’t inherently mean the best. It means it was the most played. That’s what this list is all about. Which games are getting the most play time. There was a separate community list for the Top Games of 2022 which had ISS Vanguard in the top spot by the community. As with any game though, it may not land for everyone.
