Soft drinks just means no alcohol. That's why it's called hard liquor. Back in the days when Soda Jerks where around, you'd order your drink hard or soft. The carbonation was a side effect of the dispensing method, and became synonymous with soft drinks. But again, "soft" means there's no alcohol.
@@Mohammed-bd7ql dry in reference to a martini means there's less vermouth in it, more gin/vodka. In reference to something like a "dry state" or anything, that means alcohol can't be sold legally. Soft means the drink itself has no alcohol

I’m guessing soft drink doesn’t refer to carbonated drinks (specifically pop or soda, whatever you call it) but just anything that doesn’t have alcohol
