Top 10 Movie Props of All Time 

I greatly appreciate that your Top 10 lists aren't a strictly ordered ranking from least to most, but rather each spot contains a separate sub-category or slightly different take on the overall topic. These sorts of things are almost always subjective, and so it is much more interesting for me to hear "these are ten of our favorite examples of X, and here's why we like each of them."

Should've had The Dudes rug from The Big Lebowski, it really tied that movie together.

The spinning top from inception is one of my favourite props because it's so simple but it symbolises so much and even steals the ending scene

That pause before he says "These go to eleven" lmao. That is one thing that will always make me laugh hysterically without fail.

Absolutely LOVE that you included Miller's Crossing's hat in with the likes of A Christmas Story's leg and Forrest Gump's box of chocolates.

Always a great list, but under #4 symbolism I would have the least mentioned Roy Hobbs’ Wonderboy Bat in “The Natural”. Great list.

I spoke with Edward James Olmos at a convention, and he said he was in a background shot, and had no idea why he was there to begin with (When Dekkard comes in to Bryant's office to be given the 'job' to retire replicants. James said he did not want to attract attention to himself sitting too still, and did not want to distract attention with too much movement, so got a small piece of paper and started making the first origami piece (the chicken), not knowing anything about origami. Then Ridley Scott noticed, James explained what he was doing, and said it was brilliant, and yelled get a camera, shoot the chicken... then one of the coolest movie-plot-prop themes was placed in a movie. He also said his final line was something he came up with thinking that it did not seem right to just walk away. His character would have had something to say, and tried "it's too bad she won't live, but then again, who does"... Just some Blade Runner FYI.

The Maltese Falcon is the ultimate movie prop. The entire film revolved around it. It actually functions as a character in the story.

There's enough amazing/important props out there that each sub category on this list could be a complete list on its own.

My first thought goes back to elementary school: the French film "The Red Balloon".

Lily Elbe‘s scarf in the Danish Girl from the final scene is another great one. Had me in tears!

Loved this list guys, great picks! The break down of Kikuchiyo's sword as a prop used as more than a weapon but a part of him as a character was awesome.

This was a really good video. I really like that they mentioned many other movies. It kept everything interesting and it shows that they really did a lot of research and put work into it.

That's a very good list. I love how the entries are categorized and how each has its own set of "honorable mentions" with other props. I wish Tony Stark's Arc Reactor was mentioned before #1 though :)

This is my first video seeing you guys and it was amazing. It is very refreshing to see a channel with such a wealth of knowledge of movies, compared to so many others. At least that I have seen. The pocket watch is Somewhere in Time is a great prop - sets the entire movie in motion, ties the characters together, is metaphorical and obvious as the plot is themed around time and our ability to thwart it, and also is an enigma in that it is caught in a loop having no origin....he gets it from her, she gets it from him, thus it's the tragic revolving token of their fate.

i've been binge watching this channel for the last, like, 3 days and i can't get enough. this is honestly the perfect channel.

That "comically large sword" was probably a Nodachi; a sword that predated the katana. The Nodachi was very heavy and difficult to make. It required a lot of strength to wield. That helped define the character as a strong man.

Got to have the pocket watch from the spaghetti western 'For a few dollars more'. That melody is as iconic as Clint Eastwood!

Whenever these top 10 lists come out, I usually disagree with something. But in this case, everything is perfect - and when I first saw it was about props, I thought it was going to be lame. Very well done!

I wrote these before watching the video. Zorro's mask, cape and sword were pretty cool. The Maltese Falcon. The Flux Capacitor? Wilson, the volleyball. Rosebud. The House in UP? Oscar Schindler's ring. Chaplin's shoes, cane, and hat as The Little Tramp.
