@SirsasthNigam.
@SirsasthNigam. 2 месяца назад
Venom was originally not planned to be in the movie as Sam Raimi wasn't initially a fan of the character, stating the character "lacked humanity" in comparison to the previous villains. Instead, he planned to have Vulture as the main villain of the story. However, he was pushed by Avi Arad to replace him with Venom, as he felt that the series was relying too much on Raimi's personal favorites instead of the villains that the fans like. That being said, fans disliked this iteration of Venom, particularly because Brock does not become Venom until towards the end. In other earlier scripts of the film, the Lizard and Electro were planned to be the antagonists, rather than Venom and the Sandman. The Lizard would later appear in The Amazing Spider-Man movie while Electro appeared in the sequel. Vulture also appeared as the main antagonist of the first Spider-Man movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Batman forever is often considered one of the worst superhero movies of all time, but that's mainly due to the fact that it was followed by the (rightly) much more maligned Batman & Robin. The movie has redeeming qualities among its attributes and it might have a chance of rebirth in the next years, that is if Warner bros ever decides to release the original cut of the film (of which a workrpint version was screened last summer to positive reception)

All the Douglas Adams fans seem to hate the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie adaptation from 2005, but as a huge lover of all the books, I adored the film. Most aren't aware that after Adams died, the writer and studio actually changed his screenplay to be more like the book, not less. The whole point (joke) of the Guide franchise is that every version is supposed to be different, even contradictory, to every other version. It's endlessly flexible. The fans hate the romantic angle, but forget that Trillian doesn't end up being a character with much purpose or anything approaching a personality in the original novel/radio show. She's narratively non-functional (since the original plot was pretty much made up as they went along), and they fixed that flaw. I will forever giggle myself silly thinking about the dolphin musical number that opens the movie, and it's chock full of other virtues.

The thing I never understood about Spiderman 3 wasn't the general hate, but the specific hatred of the scenes with the dancing and such. I always felt like those scenes are horribly misunderstood. Peter Parker at his core is a nerdy guy, he's not slick or cool and it's only really Spiderman that allows him to seem otherwise. The symbiote removes his inhibitions and gives him the confidence to be himself, which is exactly what he does, but he's NOT COOL. The way he acts is meant to be goofy, because it's a perfect reflection on what his deep-rooted nerdy personality thinks cool looks like, hence the hair, the dancing, and his interactions with women. It's kinda like being really drunk, but without the lack of co-ordination or fuzzy thinking. Or more simply, he's literally drunk with power.

@@Heathcoatman 95% of Sandler's movies are formulaic dumb comedies that he deliberately films in exotic locations so that he and his friends can essentially take a paid vacation. "What Dreams may Come" is one of my favourite books, by the late, great Richard Matheson. The visuals and acting are great, but the grit is all wrung out and the final "happy" ending is a vile travesty!!

There was that one scene in Spidey3 that ruined the whole movie for a lot of people. Sandman was the most interesting character in the movie. What Dreams May Come was a beautiful movie. It's a fantasy which always requires a large amount of suspension of disbelief. Boondock Saints is a great movie. It has some ridiculous action scenes, but that's part of the charm. Hook was a favorite movie to watch with my kids many times. They are in their 30s now, and we still watch it once in a while when they come to visit, especially with my granddaughter in the room. 🙂 I saw Waterworld on a date. I thought it was worth the price of admission, but my girlfriend fell asleep. It wasn't until some time later that I found out I'm supposed to hate it. Godfather III is not as good as its predecessors, but what really killed it was one big casting mistake. If Winona Ryder had been available to take that part, the movie would have been SO much better.

Venom portrayal in Spiderman 3 was spot on though it certainly could have shown it in a better way, Tobey Maguire phones in his performance in this film I thought. The Marvel animated series in the 90's showed venom coming back from space attached to a rocket and eventually attaching itself to spider man making them as being one person before spiderman rejected it leading venom to find Eddie Brock instead and become it's own stand alone villain.

Waterworld is a terrific action spectacle that’s blissfully free of CGI with lavish, expensive sets (admittedly ones that sunk!) some superb action and Dennis Hopper hamming it up on bad guy duties. Yes, Costner delivers his usual amiable if underwhelming persona but it’s still a immensely watchable action film that’s actually superior to a lot of modern turgid tripe plus it’s even better in its Ulysses Cut that, whilst 3 hours long, makes for a more rounded experience and, in retrospect, is no longer than numerous overbloated overlong modern blockbusters. Like Prince of Thieves before it it’s a big bucks, old school popcorn blast from director Kevin Reynolds that, whilst certainly flawed, can still hold its own against similar modern fare … … What Dreams May Come, meanwhile, is a heartbreakingly bittersweet eulogy to the late great Robin Williams with themes that resonate all the deeper in light of his tragic passing. Sure, it’s guilty of piling on the schmaltz and saccharine but the visuals remain stunning and its depiction of Heaven and Hell are often jaw dropping, Michael Kamen provides a truly beautiful score whilst Williams and Sciorra provide a true beating heart and inner beauty to the film. A definite cult gem and a film that deserves a great deal more love, respect and admiration than it initially got upon release.
@Heathcoatman
@Heathcoatman Месяц назад
I think many people forget that the hate over Waterworld was not focused on the actual film. The hate was actually about the ridiculous budget issues (including rebuilding that huge floating city set) and Costners lavish and decadent spending and diva-like behavior. I remember them talking about how Costner needed 3 suites in the lavish hotel each running about 1000$ a night (a lot more then compared to today's dollar). That was a huge part of the criticism of this film, wasteful decadence during production. I remember thinking "Its still only 7.50 for a ticket, right? What do I care what they spent on it"?
