That "happy endingd" felt more like one 'yeah she's here, she's gay and got a gf, now stop asking about her' from the writers tbh. The actress was on another show too like the guy who played Dr Whale but they could at least make something better to her instead of ignoring the character and suddenly bringing her back to a rushed and sloopy romantic plot.
Meghan Ory was promised a major story arc with Dr. Whale and Belle, but they just dropped her from scripts until she asked Adam and Eddy what was wrong, and they told her they decided to go another way, which was to focus on Hook. :(
+Nikki 90125 It's called fan service and it has ruined many a show. I like Colin, but tons of women swooned over him; resulting in him being shoved to the forefront. That's how he became Emma's love interest.
the writers of the show actually did contact the actor, asking him if he could / wanted to come back and have his storyline expanded in the newer seasons but he declined since he's busy with indie movies, The Fall , and Fifty Shades of Grey c:
Jamie was supposed to reprise The Huntsman in the season 3 finale but due to his work schedule for The Fall he couldnt make it work. altho he has been asked if he'd return and he always says if his schedule works out he would
"Do you know what the problem is with this world?Everyone wants a magical solution to their problems but they refuse to belive in magic." -Jefferson/Mad hatter -Once Upon A Time
Mulan could have had more of a role if she had ended up with Ruby like everyone was expecting to happen when they first journeyed off together. But then Ruby ended up with an entirely new, unnecessary character and all 3 of them have been forgotten.
Mulan will not return anymore, 'cause the actress is on The Gifted playing Blink. I'm sad, but it's okay. Time to be a badass again! End really have a fucking storyline for her own.
Mulan was originally going to be with Ruby. But since ouat is owned by Disney, Disney has to approve of all their ideas. This one they didn’t allow because “it would ruin Mulans image”. I don’t know if this is true, but I think it is. I personally wanted Mulan and Ruby to get together... but no, Disney doesn’t allow it.
I lowkey shipped Mulan with Merida but I was, too, expecting her to end up with Ruby. Dorothy annoyed the hell out of me, so I mean I don't miss her or anything, but all these characters just ran away to rainbow land or some shit after that kiss
Can't forget Prince Phillip! We never even learned how his soul was freed from the Wraith, he was just magically back with the girls when Neal showed up on the beach before Neverland... only to get a couple bit pieces for Aurora's pregnancy before never being seen again...
@@maxplease9323, the "daddy issues" cliche is the stupidest trick in the book, sure it can be done right but have you ever seen it done right, it's been in so many movies and shows that it's one of the most common cliches ever now, next to twist villains and death fakeouts
i wanted 2c augnocchio interact more with marco and archie, then like the movie. mayb bluefairy was his mother. i mean, blue technically is the mother of august. tho i still think she was secretly dating jiminy. boy, wouldnt nova&grumpy be pissed. blue found love with jiminy and blue&boss broke up them. wth! goldenswan were always like brother&sister, tho marco&snow did them both wrong before regina's curse.
OUAT's problem is that they continue to shut characters' storylines short. Jefferson quickly became my favourite character, and I was waiting to see how his life was going to be now that he got his daughter back. Would the pain and suffering from living 28 years without her leave an ever-lasting scar on him, meaning he actually did somewhat lose his mind? Was Henry and Grace going to be friendos? Would the hat become relevant again (which it did) and would they need Jefferson's help ever again? Or just...where the fuck did he go, the whole fucking town lives at Granny's why is he never there
also, Mulan was another favourite of mine (Mulan is one of my favourite Disney movies so I was already hyped, besides she's badass and fucking gorgeous I mean hello), yet she (as mentioned) never got a story of her own, she just shows up when it's convinient for the plot. I was excited to see her join the Merry Men, and I longed to see her future interractions with Robin Hood, her work, her story, everything. Instead, we *never* see that. I can't even remember getting a proper explanation to how she ended up tutoring Merida (though I loved them together asdfghjkl). And then she's suddenly with Ruby to give Gay Advice™ . What is going on
One thing l can't forget is that the evil queen (forgot her name) forgets Jefferson ever existed after something happend. So it keeps eating at me that they had something planed for him.
Jefferson's exit in-universe is basically that Vine of the kid jumping into a cafeteria trash barrel and rolling away while "F*** this sh*t I'm out" plays. I wrote lots of fanfiction about his adventures avoiding the main plot LMAO
I loved Dr. Whale and Mad Hatter! That's too bad that OUAT decided to push some irrelevant stories (the Charmings and baby Neal??) and left tons of plot holes (Rumple and Regina, anyone?).. Yup, that bothers me every single time.
yeah! and still most of charming/david scenes w his only son scenes b4 s6finale were cut, bc this show prefers to focus on snow&neal as they have with david&emma. regina always had more scenes with henry than emma did bc she always had hook. like rumple always had scenes with the villains bc b4 s6finale he was still considered one than rather been belle's husband and a father to neal & gideon, nvm his own parental issues which blue caused, she's the reason there are villains, she &her sisters turned innocents into villains, fate or not, their destinies were created from the fairies and they should be the true villains of this show, not cora, gregmara, pan, zelena, ingrid, isaac, nimue, arthur, hades, hyde&jekyll, evil queen, gideon, fiona, rumple, alternate tremaine. blue is the true villain, she practically invented fiona&malcolm combined based on a lie. merlin died for nothing. the most powerful wizard in all the realms was bested by an easily manipulated dark1 by the first, who was the light ones lover. but srsly you guys have to watch 704 its probably gonna bring alot of oncers back for the rest of s7 esp now since the writers have decided to stop making rumple, thedark1 after that brutal rumbelle ending which still left me crying for 4days now, going on 5. regina always had henry to go back to whenever she lost someone close to her, so now emma's gone, yet shes moved on with our hook. and i still think her last episode shudv been more focused on her and most likely captainswan in a sense, not just on hook, but the hook twist wasn't like belle's last was w rumple&gideon. im actually not ready to see how writers have written snowing's last episode w emma&neal, henry, if they'll ever meet lucy. they'll probably just finally have snowing's kids "orphans" now that would be adults if henry's what 13yrs older than his uncles neal&gideon and adoptv cousin, robin. if we even get all3 grown up. im actually literally nervous abt snowing's last episode. bc it's never been said when/if they're gonna this season. i know they will, bc bex will be back as zelena. and she's probably the one who makes roni rmmbr she's regina sister. so again, every returning character gets pushed aside but zelena takes the spotlight as always. i wudv liked if tremaine put henry in a coma, if lucy is henry. jacinda is snow/neal? idk henry is emma/david? mayb? i really hope emma was@ lucy's birth ¬ just regina. emma is still henry's birth mother, i know cs' kid is more important, but henry still is and emma's basically lucy's grandmother. unless its a lie and it's ivy who is lucy's mother, bc idky but drizella&henry becoming friends is alil confusing. im just glad rogers wasn't our hook but wish/hook him i could see w jacinda but it would be too soon, but tiana is the alternate mulan, no? duh! OMG
The show forget about more than just characters...it forgot about timelines, plotlines, family trees, powers, different places in enchanted forest etc. etc.
I loved Nova, and fans should have seen what would happen with her and Grumpy once they got their memories back in season 2. Ruby/Red should have been included. She was made a regular in season 2, but shortly after the season began, she was relegated to brief scenes as Henry's babysitter and though the actress was promised a major arc with Dr Whale and Belle, she was fazed out and mostly did brief cameo's once a season from then on, so they could focus on Hook instead, and when after years of stringing along the LGBT community that there would be an LGBT couple, which fans wanted Emma and Regina or Mulan and Aurora, the producers Adam and Eddy decided to do a one-off token LGBT story, they threw Ruby together with Dorothy even though they had no prior foundation for a relationship, and Ruby had only ever shown a romantic interest in men, and then never appeared again. The dwarves have been treated as cameos for the last three seasons... same for the fairies and Granny. Then there's Belle, she became a regular 'officially' in June 2012, and that remained her 'official' status until April 2017, however, Belle got the extended version of the Ruby treatment. She was never treated as a true regular and often had less screentime than guest characters. She was often left complete out of scripts, including a 2-hour episode that included a scene in the library and Belle the librarian wasn't there. The scenes she was in were often cut... like the much anticipated 4x4 Rumple and Belle dock scene that was cut to have more time for Hook and Emma's date, even though it was a Rumple centric episode. Belle often had one brief scene in an episode sometimes without having even one word of dialogue. In the last several, 2 hour season finale's Belle regularly got only 5 to 10 minutes of screentime. Then though Belle's actress Emilie de Ravin wanted to stay, show-runners, producers/writers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis cut her from the regular cast list, and came up with one last episode for her to appear in... Last Friday's much hyped "Beauty" the supposedly Rumple and Belle centric episode where she appeared for only 13 minutes out of 43 minutes, and they killed Belle... even though they didn't kill other characters that they cut from the show for season 7's plot. Which brings me to a point about the above video, on two occasions the narration makes the **assumption** that an actor no longer appeared by their own choice because of another acting gigs. That is best not to assume. Adam and Eddy are notorious for dumping actors and storylines like a hot rock for whatever pet character, Hook, Zelena, etc. or the latest flavor of the month character and plot which they lose interest in half way through. They are like the obnoxious kid opening presents, playing with the presents for 5 minutes then moving on wanting new presents. OUAT is littered with characters and stories that were dropped on a whim. Hence, I wouldn't hold out hope for Mulan in season 7, especially since their ratings have been tanking for years, and the last two weeks they had a demo rating of 0.5 and are down to the mid-2-million viewers mark when they started with 12.93 million viewers. Likely they will be below 2 million viewers within the next few episodes. Ratings karma is catching up to Adam and Eddy.
Is because she was not forgeted, she came back to the enchanted forest! I think that they just put characters that are in storybrooke, but we don't see anymore!
Linsey Rose nvm I have no idea what I’m saying, I was thinking off arial oops, but I think she’s not been seen because her character was pretty based of jealously.
While I agree some of these characters appear to have been forgotten, not all of them have. Some went on to live their lives in Storybrooke, others had their happy endings. King George, we know he is still locked away. We saw him in season 6 when Charming thought he was the one who killed his father. I have to admit, it does annoy me that we never saw Nova again. Bo Peep, maybe he ended up locking her up too, as you wouldn't think she'd be happy they stole her crook. Definitely should have explained what happened to her. Dr. Whale has been around here and there. He was there when baby Neal and baby Robin were born. And he was seen with Dr. Jekyll in season 6. Okay, the show didn't forget about Ursula. She got her happy ending and went back with her father. I agree that it would have been nice to see Jefferson more, but it seems when these characters from the earlier seasons ended up with their "happy endings" like him being reunited with his daughter, they just go off with their lives somewhere in Storybrooke. I wish we could still see that they were there at points though. That said, Jefferson tried to get Emma to believe, but no, she did not believe at that point. She only made him think she did as she planned a way to escape.
Uh...will scarlet should have been #1...he had a spin off...and they had billed him as a season regular when he was on the show!! I still want to know what happened to Will and Ana!!! Sadly I don’t think we will...
I was going to say the same thing, we found out where King George was being held in season 6 and we assume he's probably still rotting away in that cell
ummm we didn't see him die, we saw his shadow taken. and as we know from Blue's resurrection (for which time?) the shadows were all returned. but after that I think he didn't last long anyway, on that wretched island with the Lost Boys
Mulan getting an unsatisfying "happily ever after" is actually more true to the original legend. She never married a prince or general's son. The most she was told to be was a mistress (and war hero/general) Sad for the show, but more accurate.
Lily was always a huge question in my mind. She told Emma she wanted to stick around and find out who her father was, and I was excited to know the answer to that myself, but she never came back. As for Will Scarlett, he wasn't as mysterious as Anastasia/The White Queen. Based on Cinderella's (the first Cinderella) backstory, Ana was clearly the step sister of a different version of Cinderella, but we never got to see what happened to her or found out why Will came to Storybrooke without her and was available to date Belle when he and Anastasia were dating at the end of OUATIW.
Remember the witch from Hanzel and Gretel, she was in one episode of season 1 and then suddenly came back I think in season 5 even though she was just someone who worked in a cafe in the underworld (dead), but should have had a mention.
It's not like some of these characters are forgotten. They just met their happy endings such as Ariel, Ursula and Mad Hatter. So..they don't seem to be relevant to the story anymore.
Ruby got screwed for the longest time, and then tried to give her some resolution at the cost of what could have easily been a resolution for Mulan. During the whole Over the Rainbow story with Dorothy, Ruby, and Mulan, Dorothy and Ruby end up together for what only seems like a pun. Mulan is a character that was heavily speculated to be gay or bi for a while while Ruby could be bi but has been shown to mostly prefer men romanticly up until that point. If they has paired the badass Mulan with Dorothy, revolutionaire of Oz, that would make sense and finally validate the people who saw Mulan as gay the whole time, going with the whole pro-LGBT theme of the episode. Ruby and Dr. Whale had a lot of potential for an interesting relationship given that they were both "monsters" (funnily enough in the universal movie type) and could have helped each other cope with the dark sides of themselves, platonically or romantically, which were key points in *both* of their main character arcs. There you do, 3 characters taken care of in a satisfying and quick filler episode/b-plot with potential to show up again, or not.
Mad Hatter is one of my favorite portrayed characters in general. (I really like him in Syfy's made for tv movie version). So of course I adored Jefferson. But I must say out of my list my favorite is probably Nova! I loved that storyline and Amy Acker who plays her is one of my favorite television actresses. (I'm excited that she has a big role in 'The Gifted')
I really wish they kept Jefferson/Mad Hatter in the show, he would've been a perfect love interest for Emma. Plus it would've given Henry a step-sister, they could've gone on some cool adventures together.
It would have been interesting but I still loved her and Hook's romance cause they went through hell and back literally for once another! The last episode of season 7 when it shows they had a child and were happy!! I literally cried! I don't know why they didn't keep season 8 like they should have! It would have been awesome!! Plenty of more adventures they could have done! I do think they should have kept Jefferson though especially later when they brought in Alice in season 7. Like where was he? Maybe he was in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland at least!! I loved his character!! 🥰❤💯
Fun fact not many people know, the little girl that plays Mad Hatters daughter is Ali Skovbye. Her older sister Tiera Skovbye is playing Robin in season 7 of Once Upon a Time. You could know Tiera from her role as Polly in Riverdale. It isn’t really relevant but I thought that it was funny for you to know😅☺️
I’m a hardcore Oncer, been a loyal watcher since S1. Haven’t forgotten a single one. Aurora and Merida should have been on this list. Ruby should have been in the #1 slot.
Stan also really doesn't want to do tv hence why he books short stints on shows or does miniseries but yeah him being ex may have factor into it. But he way too busy doing films for OUAT. I mean Josh couldn't do Thor 2 due to filming.
No. Sebastian got casted in the first Captain America movie and then went on to be the main plot point of Winter Soldier. Him and Jennifer breaking up had nothing to do with it.
Sebastian has said in many comic con panels he loved that role and would never have said never to returning. But his role was over. He got his happy ending and as much as I love him it was a good run.
There are too many characters: - Ruby/Red Riding Hood - Aurora - Pinocchio - Mulan - King George - Dr Whale - Ursula - Lily - Maleficent - Cinderella - Jefferson/Mad Hatter - Sidney / Mirror / Genie But one of my favourites characters everyone forgot about is the Dragon (you know, that old Eastern looking man). This was a very mysterious character!
Good list, though I think a second video covering one-off or two-off characters would make for an even better list, as there are way more than ten of those, and I could even get you started: Hansel and Greta, Repunzel, Beowulf, the Count of Monte Cristo and Tiger Lily, just to name a few.
Ashley!Cinderella and her daughter stoke Emma’s desire for a family with Killian in season 6. The fact that it happens to be the counterparts to Emma’s future daughter in law and granddaughter is spectacular, because Emma first hears about Jacinda!Cinderella the day she reveals to Henry she’s pregnant, so it all comes together
I miss Nova/Astrid she was such a lovely person. And her innocence of her hope and love with dreamy was just amazing , they should’ve got their happy ending
Bo Peep was really a passer-by, she works at the butcher's in Storybrooke and means less than nothing to the main plot. What else do we want to know about her? Nova's story had a small extention in those additional videos for the 2nd season, where she met Leroy after the curse had been broken, and they broke up for the second, final time. It was actually heartbreaking. King George is in the Storybrooke's version of asylum, where David tried to kill him out of vengeance for his own father's death, and Hook stopped him. He can hardly influence anything from the ward. Whale still works at the hospital, dyed hair and all, last we checked he helped dr. Jekyll with some equipment and ingredients. The man is doing his job, just nothing extraordinary to show. Ruby mentions Anton in "Ruby Slippers", so we know he keeps growing beans but with questionable success. Ursula's story is absolutely complete and has a true happy ending. Lily is the first one truly neglected here, and I doubt they will tell us anything about her in the remaining 7 or smth episodes. The hint that the Dragon was her father had no confirmation. I believe, they incidentally forgot about her. Well, two Cinderellas is just the reality of multiple realms we have to cope with. Ashley's story is complete though, we know, what happenned to her and what she does in "our time" in Storybrooke. Aaaaand yes! Hatter is the greatest mistery of the whole series with the "Wonderland" addition! Stan is perfect and marvelous, but even if he couldn't actually be there, just a couple of lines about the Hatter would've explained and improved everything. And again, I doubt there will be the answer to this puzzle. Some of it is just left out. And Mulan didn't get her happy ending which is most unfair. Guess she just wasn't lucky to ever get to Storybrooke, where Emma made it her job to give everyone what they deserve. It's really really sad that we never saw her happy, she's really great, strong and funny. So all in all it's 3 out of 10. I agree though that sometimes even if their story is finished it's just sad to never see these people again.
It went downhill after season 3. That season 3 with peter pan was actually really fucking good. The winter princess that started season 4 killed it for me. COuldn't even finish the first episode of season 4. But season 3 was fucking good.
They never forgot about the Mad Hatter, they even wanted him for the Wonderland spin-off back in the day, but he simply refused and moved on to a bigger and better things. Good for him
You forgot Jiminy Crickett/ Dr. Hopper. He always popped in and out of the town. He was most prominant in the first season given his status as Henry's therapist and first person to help Emma. But as seasons pass, we see less and less of our favorite ever conscientious doctor. Which is sad. Perhaps could have helped Emma overcome that whole Dark One thing.c
It's interesting to see that they repeated the same mistakes they had already made in "LOST", that is too many characters. "LOST" also had a lot of secondary characters that could have been developped better. I think it's the problem when you put too much characters in a show, you can't focus on them all at the same time. By reading the comments, it also appears that a lot of those characters were written off because the actors playing them were involved in other projects. Guess you just can't be everywhere, right ? But still it pisses me off for Jefferson/The Mad Hatter - he played it very well and I would have liked to see more of him. Too bad. But for me, the biggest problem in "Once Upon A Time" is that it looks like the show had been written as if they had had no idea where they were going to. It's really obvious when you watch 3 or 4 episodes one after another, it looks as if the writers had not planned an entire season and were just writing for next week's episode, it's quite weird. But it's still an enjoyable show to watch ! :-)
