Mojo, plis search Trafalgar Law pre time skip reference, ikr that the guy wasnt Rossi, he might be from MTV or something. back then a lot of references describe him as law (his hat are black though, but the hat model and the way law looking r similar to him).

I always loved that Brooks was based off of Slash from Guns ‘N’ Roses, he’s the musician of the crew and plus he’s got the hair, sunglasses and top hat

There’s also Gol D. Roger being based off of real life pirate Olivier Levasseur. Like Roger, Levasseur left behind a vast treasure that still hasn’t been uncovered & the only way to find it is through an unknown language left behind by Levasseur similar to that of the Poneglyphs.

Similar goes for Blackbeard, Bellamy, Drake and Bonny who were all named after famous pirates. Blackbeards real name was Edward Teach or just Thatch (also a reference to the poor guy he killed in One Piece to get his first devil fruit)

Kazuki Yao became Oda's friend because he voiced Jango. Mr. 2 was born when he took Oda to a gay bar. I also created a character named Franky to get Yao into the Straw Hat Pirates. Yao is also included in Franky's model.

6:17 Update: While the Killer and Daft Punk comparison may be farfetched, Vegapunk Shaka's Helmet looks exactly like the Daft Punk one, and the reference is much more straightforward

Oda is blessed with all of the taste and flair to create his very dreams and for people to love him for it. You can’t be envious or disdainful toward him, though, because his work ethic is second to none. I’m just so happy this series exists. It’s quite literally the greatest, and while I subconsciously (and consciously in a few circumstances) knew these to be true already, this video had added yet another layer to my respect for his wonderful storytelling.

Great video!! Those are the ACTUAL characters inspired by real people (only missing are Mr. 5 and Lenny Kravitz, the Gorosei, Gan Fall and other minor characters), but there is a famous image which is completely wrong, like, based on people's guesses but that's only random resemblance instead of actual inspiration. Like, Ace on Stevie Ray Vaughan, wtf? Because of a hat? Or Whitebeard on Hulk Hogan or even Law on Valentino Rossi? Lmaooo

You gotta give credit where credit's due. Each character of over 100s of possibly even 1000s of characters in over 20 years, has been carefully written with an inspiration off a real life character, and give enough depth, origin, and backstory to make them feel fresh, original, and unique. Most of the time anyway. Not sure if every One Piece character has this trait.

I don't know if its ever been confirmed but I was always under the impression that Bartholomew Kuma was based on Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator. He has the shades, the jawline, and he's a cyborg.

Fun fact: *SPOILER ALERT* In chapter 1065 of the manga, one version of Dr. Vegapunk (shaka) is exactly a reference to one of the members of Daft Punk, I mean it's the same helment.

Spoilers!!! Vegapunk's true self is finally revealed and it's modelled after Albert Einstein! Specifically his most famous photograph(the one with the tongue out) What a fitting inspiration. Oda truly is a man of culture.

Nope Whitebeard inspired from old man who have bar and when Oda in highschool Oda always visited him, and Oda stated that old man is very sick and he always use pipe in his nose to help him breathing.
