So enjoying this. Such an interesting way to explore a top ten list + fun to see friends listening as well. So excited to hear ERIS’ Night Flower on this list. My favorite by them but agree all are just so, so good. When I think about fall, classic + dependable/ unwavering I also think about scents like Coromandel, Sycomore, Tam Dao, Bottega Veneta, Désert Fleur, my favorite patchouli (Bohemian Reves), Musc Ravageur, Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue + Vetiver, Byzantine (Sucreabeille), Conjure + Witch’s Cottage (both Solstice Scents), Obsession, Paloma Picasso, Halston… oh where would this list stop? Enjoying all your mentions and the listener’s reminder re: Aromatics Elixir.
I've missed the live once again! I'd like to share my autumn perfumes, anyway: "Passage d'enfer" (nice, pensive, a little cold but relaxing), "L'heure bleue" (stilllness and tranquillity in a bottle, plus a little bit of nostalgia that always goes with this season), "Feminité du bois" (I still havn't got the chance of smelling "iris silver mist" and I know I'd love it!), chergui maybe, "Cuir d'ange" (I've longed so much for this 15 ml bottle!), "N19 poudré", "N5 eau première" (to lift morale once in while) and "Herman(...)" from ELDO (I read on your blog you don't like this one, but I find it interesting and perfect for the autumnal weather) +1: "Acqua di colonia Città di Kyoto", Santa Maria Novella, a woody and iris, cold and pensive fragrance .
@@Persolaise Just got it in the mail today and WOW. Instant love for me. This and the new release of Eau Noire are going to be my go to autumn scents for sure. Thank you Sire P!! #ImmortelleAutumn
You’re bringing back memories and mentioning almost all the bottle I bought in France. I also have the Reminiscence Pachouli which I bought at their Reminiscence store at the Monte Carlo Metropole shopping Centre quite a few years ago. It’s wonderful.
During warm sunny (pre-)autumn days I have been pretty obsessed with Nahema. I think the late 70s connection makes me think of that time period of music which fits my fall perspective. The fragrance reminds me of the warmth and romantic qualities of late 70s synthesizer heavy progressive rock. And that music for me is a reliable constant in my universe. Plus hitting up Shalimar more, it's perfect to think of falling leaves, the woods, flannel, and sitting in front of a fire. It's perfect for a rustic autumn vibe. The most reliable smelling to me. I think it's because it reminds me of my late grandmother, who was reliable and dependable.
@@Persolaise Never can go wrong with Nahema at all! It just works very well on an Indian Summer or pre-fall time period. Many thanks to you, sir, for mentioning it on a couple of your videos.:) It's in my top 3 favorite perfumes now (the other two being Shalimar and L'air du Temps). The classics rule! :)
Elizabeth Bennet would surely wear a subtle, romantic, floral, possibly a solinote jasmine or lily of the valley. Hello Dariush, hope you are doing grand! I was on a business trip in Dubai recently (my first time there) and thought about you when I picked up a bottle of Goutal Mon Parfum Cheri. Now talk about a patchouli bomb I am still trying to get used to. I like patchouli as a character actor vs. the main character, and this one keeps me perpetually confused as to who is who here! Love your seasonal top 10 ones, and this one did not disappoint!! Thank you.
I've been very down on the perfume scene recently: prices shooting up and quality lagging behind. But as this live stream reminds us there are loads of great scents from the recent past just waiting for us to discover and enjoy (and some like Reminiscence's Patchouli at bargain prices). Thank you for enthusing me again Persolaise and take care x.
ELdO was never on my radar until watching enough of your positive reviews. They're now one of the houses I have the most of. This pushed me over the edge on Afternoon of a Faun, and after finding a great deal on it, went ahead and made a blind buy. Love it! Being a ballet student makes it all the more enjoyable. One of my most worn scents since picking it up, this and Fougere Bengal have brought me around to immortelle, but then I love curry anyway. TBH it gives me hay and tobacco vibes more than anything.
Very disappointed to miss you live. Intrigued by Eris so have tracked down a sample set so might treat myself next pay day, but there are so many discovery sets I want. 😀
Loved this! Thank you! :) The popularity of Night Flower bamboozles me. I can't get past the similarity to Musc Ravageur. I adore (and own) Green Spell and Ma Bête, but Night Flower felt a bit redundant for mr my collection.
31 rue cambon is my favourite Chanel Les exclusif. I cannot stress how much I love that perfume. It just sparkles with all that is special with perfumery. 🌹
I ordered a sampler set of the Eris perfumes. They sent me a thank you with the shipping info, and I let them know I found them through you. Looking forward to smelling the set.
Loving your selections here! Am adding some to test. Persolaise I found your channel by searching for a review on Diptyque "Opsis," as no one had a review on it before it came out except you. I have a decant now and that one is definitely on my list for autumn! Iris is one of my favorite notes and here it is used in such an intriguing way. I am ashamed to admit I still haven't tried Iris Silver Mist, but I will soon! As well as Chanel 31 Rue Cambon. I love some of the Chanel Les Exclusifs though find the longevity lacking in a few. So happy I found your channel & love catching your livestreams! Thanks for doing what you do! ❤️
I can't believe the chat went quiet when Afternoon of a Faun was mentioned. I think it's one of their best offerings, along with Rien (and Intense) which also smells contemporary-retro. As for the theme, I like a hint of cheekiness in towering seriousness, so my pick would be: 2 Man (The brand even describe it as "A man who loves his work"), Bois des Îles, Invasion Barbare, and Muscs Koublai Khan.
You know it's autumn when Mr P drops T shirts and short sleeves 😁 PS. waiting for the comeback of my favourite festive turtleneck! PPS. OH NO! it is a Tshirt... 🫣
I finally got to sample Oriental Velours. It is definitely one of the most unique blends I’ve ever smelled. That green note is 100% spruce. I have spruce trees on my property and live in upstate new york where there are tons and tons of spruce trees. And this note smells exactly like crushing spruce needles in my hand. I also love how vetiver is used in Velours. I don’t love super forward vetivers and prefer when it is subtle and smoky in the base. This nails that. I’m not getting much jasmine or florals on me yet, so I am curious how it sprays from the actual bottle. I absolutely love the opening, and I think I get some jasmine then, but I need more juice to tell. I also love how ethereal the vanilla is expressed in this. That unique spruce seems to cut through the myrrh and vanilla the longer it sits on me, and then all of a sudden I get a whiff of resinous vanilla out of nowhere. I walked by my wife last night and she said it I smelled like a bourbon milk punch with vanilla. 🤷♂️ I have another decant of it coming now, because I need to try and bomb myself with this before I buy a bottle. Because I am leaning towards getting one. 😊
I love vintage and neo-chypres. There is a sense of being grown-up, mannered, and empowered to me. I love 31 Rue Cambon edp, and her skanky cousin Jubilation 25! Oriental Velours is another favorite.
Thank you for your autumn top 10! Apart from Réminiscence's Patchouli, Parfum de Thérèse and 31 rue Cambon, all in your video, I'm going to be wearing Shalimar EDP, Noir Épices which I discovered thanks to you 🤩, Aromatics Elixir, Lancôme's Magie Noire, Cabochard, Parfum Sacré from Caron, Cinnabar, and of course Féminité du Bois, Maison Trudon's Olim, and possibly Encelade from Marc-Antoine Barrois. I forget a few others, like Opium and Hermès' Eau des Merveilles... Your work is fantastic, Mr P., thank you ever so much!
Thank you for the review! I'm happy to see ERIS Night Flower on your list and I'm glad you love it in spite of it feeling dangerous -- or perhaps because it feels dangerous!! Re: "exposing influencers for asking for free stuff," haha, well, I'll qualify that. I wouldn't exactly say this was even an influencer. I shared the DM I received (without revealing the Instagram handle) from this person who provided no message to me other than: "Can I have a free bottle of perfume?" Haha.
Dear Persolaise, what a fun idea! I immediately choose a few of my own collection that I wanted to wear now that the seasons are changing and my summer fragrances will no longer do. So I have a line up of Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial, Frederic Malle Parfum de Therese, Bottega Veneta, Guerlain l’Homme Ideal and Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance. Bring on the fall! I have een sample of the Chanel fragrance you mentioned and I will give it a try.
I have the EDT 31 Rue Cambon which I had bought at the 31 Rue Cambon boutique in Paris in 2009. I also bought the EDT of Bois Des iles. They’re still as new as I keep all my perfumes hidden away in my armoire under lock and key.
What a beautiful selection! But honestly Night flower is really too close to Musc Ravageur, sometimes comparing them I can’t even distinguish them haha Hope to try Le parfum de Therese one day!
I happened to wear Parfum de Therese this morning, even though I think of it as a soring scent. I’m going to wear it more this week, and try to see it through an autumn lens.
Hi Mr. P! Tim & I are so delighted to catch a live! We are in the midst of rewatching the first half (that we missed) and wanted to share: Tim is really impressed & engaged in this video (he often is ambivalent to my fragrance viewing). Loves this week’s topic! 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌❤️🙏
Hadn’t thought about fall and what scents to wear yet because it’s still so warm here. But I love this list, it’s inspiring!👌🏻. Just the other day I received a Frederic Malle sample set and a decant of Parfum de Therese, wearing it today for the very first time and I love it already. 31 rue Cambon is also on my wishlist after sampling a decant. I’m sure I will be wearing Le Lion and Coromandel more and more as the fall sets in. Thank you for all these wonderful suggestions Mr P. 🌸🙏🏻
Another memorising Top 10 Persolaise, loved it!! Couple of quick questions you mentioned Les Indemodables being sold in a UK shop or online store , could you confirm who that would be ? My Girlfriend got me the discovery set last Christmas at your recommendation and I was absolutely blown away by them!! Also have you done a review yet on Pana Dora Swedish fragrance house , just came across it and they sound amazing, would love to hear your opinion on them!
I would advise you to follow Persolaise on Instagram, he does warn us on his "stories" about 1 day before with the different time zones (often 17:00 UK time I think)
Thanks very much for watching, and Liselotte, thanks for replying. Tom, I try to give as much notice of the videos as possible (both here on RU-vid and on Instagram) but I’m afraid that I can rarely give as much notice as I’d like to. I’m afraid the demands of non-perfume-related responsibilities often make forward planning quite tricky.
I should get my nose on Faune after all this time. In general, ELDO fragrances dont agree with me, though there are a few ones that I really, really like! Fat Electrician, Fils de Dieu and Jasmin et Cigarette to name a few.... Vol de Nuit is my favorite fragrance of all time. It has suffered a lot in the past but I've heard from more people that this extrait is pretty good.....I now use Dryad for autumn, it is glorious and has that same nostalgic quality to it like Vol de Nuit.... Thank you for another enjoyable top 10!
Damn, missed the live! 31 Rue Cambon was my wedding fragrance, too. I don’t think it wore too well in June, though. I also tend to agree with Tania Sanchez’s take that you need to somewhat cram your nose in the scent to smell it - do you ever get that sense, Persolaise? I wonder if the rumoured parfum ever gets released?
Parfum de Therèse is THE masterpiece by Edmond Roudnitska. It was too modern for its time when it was created and it kept evolving and being perfectionized over a period of more than 30 years. Michel Roudnitska says that it contains all aspects of the perfumes his father so successfully developed. I am of course just quoting him when I write all this. Also Edmond Roudnitska tried to commercialize it many times. It was offered to Ungaro, Dior, Ferré and Guy Laroche. In the end it always got refused. Until Frederic Malle asked for it (thank God really!) And isn't it amazing that in the same video you are mentioning a ballet that was also created by an artist who was too avant garde for his time and suffered quite terrible consequences.I have to smell that Faune! The other Faune I want to get my nose on is the one by Jacques Guerlain who personally knew the amazing dancer and choreographer! And I am as convinced as I can possibly be without any more detailed information about the matter, that he saw the first performance of the work. I have no idea if I will ever get a chance to smell the perfume though....
@@maries.4665 Hello Marie, yes I am absolutely sure of it. Michel Roudnitska tells the story of Parfum de Therèse at a talk at the Osmothèque. He has uploaded a video of the event on his youtube channel. Just go to Michel Roudnitska here on youtube and look for the video "Il voulait être chanteur d'opéra il sera parfumeur..." there he explains it all.
Funnily enough I tested Rue Cambon yesterday at John Lewis, I absolutely loved it, until the dry down came through. It had some very modern synthetic smelling base which I was not comfortable with. But with the top and heart being so beautiful, I would give it another go. I think it's the iris which makes it beautiful!
Something about Rue Cambon (edt) made me break out in a rash 😭💔 I adore it on paper but can never wear it on skin. So I gifted it to my wonderful aunt. Always so envious when I visit her and see the bottle on her vanity coz I miss it. But there’s absolutely no point hanging onto it if I can never wear it :/ I wonder if the edp will be more agreeable on my skin…
Though as a loving matriarch I would actually go with Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle (Diana Wynn Jones) who is such a wonderful character as a young girl and as a cursed old lady.
This autumn I think I am going to wear yesterday haze by imaginary authors and patchouli figue by panouge, they are not the most beautiful but matching my 2022 autumn mood somehow 😅
Thanks very much for writing. Yes, she slept at The Ritz. There’s an apartment above the shop, which is still kept looking almost exactly the same as when she died.
I’m not certain if you have ever discussed this but how did your perfume journey begin? What are your earliest scent memories? Have you also tried any of the newer Penhaligon’s releases? Unfortunately, they don’t sell in the US any longer. And a silly question: what perfume would you say each of the following people would wear? Hercules Poirot, Miss Marple, and the cast of Are You Being Served?
I wonder if some of your questions might be answered here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c87HxTSUct0.html I’ll have to give the literary characters a bit of thought 😉 Thanks for watching.
@@Persolaise you’re so great! Thank you for all of your beautiful recommendations! Autumn vibes has become a staple for me and whenever I wear it I get lots of compliments (but they are usually from a more vintage/alternative crowd) so it’s not for everyone! It smells like old leaves and spiced wet earth. It’s perfect and every time I spray it I go back to fall.
@@Persolaise also Tea Tonique by Miller Harris (light and syrup citrus at first but the dry down has a very fall dry tea leaves and old flowers) and Terrible Teddy from Penhsligon’s has this black cracked pepper musk that makes me think of fall weather
Every time I smell the exclusive collection of Chanel, I’m amazed by the quality of their raw materials. This autumn, I would love to tame Le Lion since I find this fragrance to be fabulous but like it less on my skin. Otherwise, I will probably wear the usual suspects. The world is unstable enough, I need some stability. So probably, Vanille Mona di Orio (my all-year go-to scent), Angélique Noire Guerlain (to go back to the beginning of my love affair with the house and when life seemed to be easier), Iris Ganache Guerlain…and hopefully Shalimar Millésime Tonka. Probably some Oriza L. Legrand (Rêve d'Ossian, Le Régent...) as well since I really love that brand. I also hope to make new acquaintances. By the way, I smelled Chanel’s Sycomore extrait a few days ago…and oh wow! It’s so beautiful! I never wear vetiver scents but I often find them beautiful. And they give such a great feeling of comfort, stability, security. They help becoming rooted (if you can say that). What I love about vetiver is also the contrast between light and darkness. Its scent is rich, dark, rooty, and citrusy, sparkling, luminescent at the same time. Like a bridge between earth and sky, celestial and terrestrial places! It's profound and sumptuous! Love it!
