Ash is still ten because towards the start of the series he wished that his adventure would last forever. He then saw Ho-Oh, who grants wishes. Ho-Oh granted his wish and as such Ash remained ten years old.
I don't see why people assume "A girl in Gen 1 describes a Pokemon from Gen 5, therefore they had a Gen 5 pokemon planned" instead of "When they were planning Gen 5, a person on the design team said "Hey, this might be fun" and designed one after what the girl said.
Yeah. The Creator said that they chose their favorite designs to make it into the game. So, maybe Munna was a discarded design and they brought it back for generation 5.
"Could Kanto have just seen the end of a bloody war? Are you and your Rival part of the first generation to live in peace?" Well, they don't call it Generation 1 for nothing!
All jokes aside The game shark doesn't exist in their universe and the anime and video games are two separate canons so I highly doubt they'd even know what a that even is. Not only to mention the Pokemon Company is very against cheating or hacking save files of any kind so they would just get a bad egg.
Its may be of fire, but think. in real life terms, rock and water. would really be the only types strong against fire. even fire would be strong against fire.
+DemonWings maybe it just couldn't take it, got to hot and soon just popped/exploded. XD lol I'm just making assumptions here, ~also anything is possible in the world of Pokemon~

In a recent data leak, Giovanni was revealed to be a flying-type gym leader, with a roster of Farfetch’d, Dodrio, Fearow, and Pidgeot. This is also why his badge is a feather. Erika was probably a ghost-type gym leader, since she was going to be the fifth gym leader in Lavender Town, wore clothing traditionally in Japan for dressing corpses, and her beta sprite had a floating Poké Ball! Finally, Koga’s Soul Badge was accidentally swapped with Sabrina’s Marsh Badge, since a soul is more like psychic power and a marsh is filled with poisonous gasses.
Lol "When Ash was struck by lightening, he fell into a coma, and Pokémon are just his fantasies." Umm... Then why were Pokémon there before it happened...?
+Jacob Nelms No, it was a bee, and that was the bee he was talking about, then he edited in a Beedrill. Okay, it might have been a fly, but Brandon at least thought it was one.
Stanley Smith Its actually Giovanni: Did Professor Oak tell you what happened to your father Ash: HE SAID YOU LEFT ME! Giovanni: No, I am your father Ash: NO..THATS NOT TRUE, THATS IMPOSSIBLE...NOOOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOOO!
Ya know, the #1 theory is stupid to me. I think it would be better to think he actually went on all those adventures instead of being in a coma. A better theory for why Ash doesn't seem to age is in a pokedex entry for Ho-oh, it says whoever sees this legendary pokemon will be granted eternal happiness (or something along those lines) and which for Ash, is to be the best pokemon master and train forever. This causes him to not age so quickly. (This is only my opinion)
ItsJpex I second it. After all, we all know the real reason he doesn't age (target audience demographics). Might as well question why the Simpsons haven't aged.
So this randomly popped up on my 'recommended to watch' list and I sat down think why not, and just as I'm getting settled into the nostalgia of all the crazy stuff us kids came up with back in the day BAMN surprise appearance of my Lugia artwork (Brass Tower Burns). Thank you for advertising my stuff dude~
The ditto thing actually makes sense. Just hear me out here. In pokemon X and Y there is only one place to find ditto. Pokemon Village. Mewtwo resides in the dungeon cave right beside it. Now I think that possibly Ditto being a failed clone of Mew has a sort of sense to track Mewtwo being another clone of Mew. Now as for the places where you can find ditto that aren't near Mewtwo well they can't exactly fly so they would probably have challenges keeping up and after a certain range they are unable to follow Mewtwo because they can no longer sense him. But that's just my theory.
In official Pokemon comics it's been said that Mewtwo is an attempt to make a new pokemon by fusing Mew DNA and human DNA, which resulted in Mewtwo absorbing the professor that used his DNA for Mewtwo.
I can tell SEVERAL holes in the "Ash's Coma" theory. For one thing, it's not ASH who's hit by lightning, but PIKACHU. That strike causes an eternal supercharge in Pikachu's electrical level, allowing him to learn Thunderbolt much earlier than normal; the second charge giving Pikachu more power comes about when Ash turns the water wheel himself to charge Pikachu up, that charging allowing Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, setting things on fire and setting off the Pewter City Gym's sprinklers. Team Rocket's Jessie and James are abysmal Pokemon Trainers, even in the 5th gen. It's just that instead of Blasting Off like in most of the series, they run away on jetpacks. After the Unova League, they go back to underestimating Ash and blasting off again. There's also proof in the series before that incident that Pokemon DO exist; They're available for starting trainers, and the league matches are televised. Ash is watching a match between two trainers before bed in the very start of the first episode. Then, there's also canon fact, in the anime AND the games, It's stated in Pokedex entries for Ho-oh in both the game and the anime that legends say those seeing Ho-oh receive eternal happiness. What is Ash's idea of eternal happiness? Being able to stay young forever and continue to grow stronger with his Pokemon. Therefore, the Ho-oh theory is much more viable a theory than the Ash's Coma Theory.
Yeah! Great explainin' right there. I had always found Ash's Coma Theory to be one of the worst ones out there! And that canon fact is a better way of Ash not being able to age! Sorry Brandon, but I completely disagree with you man.
Ash's coma theory only exists to try to destroy everyone's childhood. People are starting to care less about others and now people are happy to see people cry about their childhood being ruined.
But how does that ruin it? Generally confused why it's a bad thing that it's all a dream. Is the dream bad? no. So, generally still confused. I mean, not like everything that's ever happened to ash has been a good thing or anything LOL.
The "Giovanni wants to catch mewtwo to rule the world" always rang oddly to me. It seemed more like he was trying to stop mewtwo, or make sure they could be stopped if they decided to do more than sit in a cave. Also, random idea: Mewtwo was intended to be the Kanto equivalent to Victini, but the American side got Victini ready before Kanto could get MewTwo to cooperate.
Maybe Pokémon were created on Cinnabar Island to help out in the war Lt. Surge was talking about. I mean, Self-Destruct, Explosion, Dig, Flamethrower, Egg Bomb, SmokeScreen, Supersonic, Smog, Bullet Seed, Acid, Toxic, Protect, Safeguard ect are moves that reference military attacks, if not actually used.
+digitalneonblue97 Why would Arceus want to make its creations explode? Maybe not ALL the pokemon are Arceus's creations,or probably they are,it's just that the "first generation" of them were drastically modified by human science?
saying ash was in a coma at the end of pokemon is like saying in the last line of the harry potter books "then harry woke up, in his bed, under the stairs"
i think it was 3 eevees that died in Brass Tower and Ho-Ohs power gave them a bigger boost than the one they get from evolution, transforming them into the legendary trio.
or...or..or....OR...he dosen't age because its a fucking cartoon. Nobody ages in cartoons and usually not in anime either. People don't question it there, so why so much for pokemon...*sigh*
The coma theory kinda makes sense when you think about it,but it's WRONG. At the end of the video, you mention that Pokemon may never exist. But all of his journey CAN come true outside of a coma, but a bit different. 1. He already met Pikachu before the coma. The pikachu would continue loving him, because it was on THAT moment on that he grew a friendship with Ash. 2. He already met Gary before the coma. Gary even mentioned that he got his pokemon which in fact was a (Spoiler alert) Squirtle. 3. He already met Misty before the coma. She saves him from drowning,he steals her bike, which got destroyed by the explosion. 4. Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. If Ash just saw just one Jenny and one Joy (from pallet town according to the theory) he would never imagine a new one while in coma, but the thing is that he DIDN'T saw any Jenny or Joy,because there isn't a Officer Jenny or a Pokémon Center in Pallet Town, which makes the Jenny-Joy thing a mystery. Again,I really think this is a good theory, but it's REALLY wrong.
5. When he said Team Rocket wasn't very scary, they aren't even scary in the games either. I don't recall characters such as Red and Gold getting struck by a thunderbolt. 6. Ok, this entire theory is wrong because of the manga and the games. Plus, wouldn't that be a bit too.. erm.. dark for a children's show? And, yes, the games and manga may be different from the anime, but think about it for a second, heres an example: the Jenny and Joy thing is in all the games, meaning that other trainers have seen many Joys and Jennys,
The funny thing about this video is he is joking about a bee using a beedrill picture , but there actually is a really wasp flying around in the background, strange isnt it??
Oh, they've slipped some dark stuff in kids shows and movies, throwing in some deep mental thinking stuff for the parents to dwell on isn't that much of a stretch
The typing of Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, is based on the lightening that struck the tower, the fire that burned it down, and the rain that put out the fire. That explains their typing, not necessarily that the pokemon killed were eveelutions.
I think the people from pokemon anime series can take that coma theory and rebut the series , for example ash is allways 10 , the nurse joy and the cop jenny , all makes sense , so ash wakes up and he even didnt started his adventures and takes the road that red took , i really think that would make a great boost in ratings for the series , and not only that , his relationship with pikachu would be even more meaningfull ...
If it was true people would be really pissed, so much I don't think they will continue watching it or even buying the games. Like if they lied to us from the very beginning! But think about it, he "died" from lightning but he gets a little damaged from pikachu's thunderbolt?
In Lavender Town, Green never says "Do you know what it's like to have your Pokémon die?". He says "Your Pokémon don't look dead." His Raticate is obviously in the PC.
That reminds me about a joke when Neo in Matrix first woke up and complained to Morpheus that the math didn't add up with the machines using human brains for electic-food. To that Morpheus said "Neo, the world doesn't run on math."
To be honest, I don't believe it. The other theory that explains Ash's eternal age, is the Ho-Oh theory. In the first episode he saw ho-oh. The pokedex entry dictates that it can give eternal happiness. Ash's happiness might be travelling the world of pokemon infinitely. So, the reason he's still his age, is that. And to me, it seems for more likely.
Sam Pickering If Ho-Oh gives eternal happiness i don't know about ash but he loses every contest and elite four challenge and for me i would like want to win those things you know what i mean?
Perhaps Ash thinks that if he wins...anything, he wont be able to train any more because he's the best. Whereas, loosing means more training, which means more time with his pokemon. And that may be his true happiness
Ash being in a Coma : The explanation of why he never wins the championships..He gets every starter in the show, an he hardly ever has them evolve, He never chances appearance, an never gets a gf...Yup..He's gone bro..Lol
I forgot to mention a certain thing from 2 months ago(because I was too busy ranting about Ash's Come Theory) that has failed to be proven helpful to "Blue's Raticate" at #3. The fact that he doesn't ask you if we knew what it is like to have your Pokemon die. Also, if Raticate died cause it was hurt so bad and crowd control fail then why didn't his others die as well? He could've simply just put it in the PC like everyone else, especially considering he would have to get the 2 other types that isn't his starter(like if he chose Charmander he would eventually get Gyarados and Exeggutor) like how we usually have when playing the game. Plus, say that you decide after a long while of using a Pokemon you decide to swap it out for a different Pokemon. He(obviously) doesn't decide to say during one of your meetups, "Hey where's your ______? And why do you have that ______ in its place? Did your ______ die or something? I mean, it's not like you use Bill's Storage System or anything!!" Yeah, remember that logical possibility? Also, on the S.S. Anne he mentioned he caught 40 DIFFERENT KINDS OF POKEMON!! So are we expected to assume that 36 of them died and Raticate was the 37th? Are we really that dumb that we never think, "Where's Raticate? Oh wait, Bill's PC. Silly me!!", despite that being more sensible than thinking, "He has new Pokemon in his party in place of others? Let's assume the worst case scenario because FUCK LOGIC!!!"?!?!? It's times like these that make me just.....uuuggghhhh......
The war theory actually gets me thinking... The entire male population can't be gone... So, maybe the war is still on and pokemon league is a challange to pinpoint people skilled in strategy and conscript them as ranked officers. Maybe that's why Red was on top of that mountain. Him and his pokemon were shellshocked... PTSD... Just wanted to be away from it all. And when he was finally challanged and defeated by your character, he lost it all and ran away, never to return...
however the fact that Lt. Surge is known as The Lightning American destroys your theory, because Red wasn't in the war and Lt. Surge was worked up, most likely after killing a few germans and learning that he turned all the buisness men on Hiroshima and Nagasaki into rice crispies
The entire male population *isn't* gone. The population of males that do exist however are *mostly* pensioners, children and criminals. Any male 'of age' who didn't have an important role in society (such as gym leaders) or didn't have another reason not to fight (disabilities, bad health) would be brought in to 'the war'.
Another good theory is that Ash is a clone. That Giovanni tested the cloning process of mew on Ash after he died by being struck by lightning and that every "season" he deteriorates and then there is another clone which would explain why Ash seems to be weaker in the beginning of every season of the anime. And it also explains that Team Rocket is watching out for the clone to report anything that may be bad or have gone wrong to Giovanni. It also explains Ash's extreme tolerance to Pokemon attacks because he was killed by a lightning strike so Pickachu's thunderbolt and Charizard's flamethrower do minimal damage.
Has anybody notice.. Smike: mliks every single drop of FNaF with making. Example: top ten facts about (inserted character) now times that by 14 has 1 million subscribers. ABrandonToThePast: makes videos on one fandom but with more nostalgia and sometimes takes a break from Pokemon. Has only one hundred thousand subscribers I'm not trying to bash on Smile but I'm just pointing that out.
Ash was not struck by lightning. Pikachu used Thundershock with all its might to scare the Spearows away. Ash was not hit by the attack, but he was knocked back from the force, but not hard enough that he enters a coma. And in that sense, why does he never age or anything like that? Well, why didn't Goku or Bulma age during the events in DragonBall Z(just DBZ, not GT or the original)? Why has Ichigo yet to age in any way? How has Minato not aged from his time as Kakashi's sensei to his final days as the 4th Hokage? In other words, it's anime. Japanese cartoons if you will, but since many people would bitch even if i call it a JAPANESE cartoon, I'll say anime to avoid butthurt complaints. But still, I see the Ash Coma theory impossible imo. Btw, in the beginning of the first episode, the narrator says he turns 11 the following day when getting his first Pokemon. So he can't be 10 if the day he got Pikachu(and the day this alleged coma began) was his 11th birthday. It's F*CKING BULLSH*T!!
luden duden But it didn't strike Ash directly. It struck nearby, closer to Pikachu than to Ash, allowing Pikachu to charge its Thunder Shock. And since numerous Pokedex entries involve Pikachu being PURPOSELY struck by lightning while completely unscathed, it makes much more sense that Pikachu was struck and simply used the lightning to charge its Thunder Shock. Yes, the bike was completely destroyed, but that's because metal conducts electricity. The anime directly states that Magnemites are used to charge control and electricity. I know Magnemite isn't a Steel type in Gen I, but look at it! It's two freaking magnets stuck to some circular thing with screws popping out of it! Of course, since Magnemite is a living entity, it's able to harness the power of electricity like Pikachu. A bike is not alive and would be destroyed if lightning struck nearby it. Either way, all of us are over thinking this entirely. The Ash's Coma Theory is easily disproved by minor elements in the anime.
Ash's Coma theory is actually one of the worst out there. There are other more legit ways of finding out Ash ages at all. Just watch the Jwittz's video on Ahs Ketchum's age
I have a theory, ash stays 10 years old because he doesn't have a birthday. So he was created. In fact everyone in Pokemon was probably created by .......... THE MAKERS OF POKEMON! Come on it's an anime. If we theorised everything because it didn't make sense then anime would be boring.
wait if pokemon is a figure of his imagination... then why does ash have a pikachu BEFORE the "coma"??? or why is there spearows, again BEFORE, the "coma"
I only liked the video when you made that Pinky pie diahrea joke. That one was great 😂😂😂 And that joke where you said "her crack stinks city". Omg. You are so funny.
If most of you don't know there are many plot holes in the ash's coma theory that you can look up on RU-vid I believes it at first then saw videos that said everything that's wrong with it. Ash doesn't get struck by lightening pikachu does uses an electric attack on them
I was literally just thinking that, and I thought how weird that would be if kids told their parents who watched the show "Ash finally woke up!!" and then the parents come to see what he is talking about, and are heartbroken because their childhood was just a dream and not really ash's adventure.
Omfg Pokemon is a kid anime/game, so why making it so complicated? Theory #1 is completely false, the reason why ash doesn't age is because Pokemon was intended for kids...
I guess it's possible that they had Munna designed and were going to introduce it in Gen 2, but they put it off for whatever reason. It happens. Shellos and Gastrodon were originally supposed to be in Gen 3. But to put it off for a full decade and three generations? They had plenty of opportunities to use it. The far simpler answer is that (assuming that it isn't just a strange coincidence) they created Munna as a nod to that line.
There's one major flaw with your first theory. You say Pokemon wouldn't exist because they are figments of Ash's coma, correct? This can't be true because Ash was struck by lightning towards the end of the first episode, AFTER the introduction of Pokemon. The idea that the adventures aren't real is very plausible, but no Pokemon just can't be supported.
Treena Turtle Yes, this is exactly why the theory is flawed. You can't say Ash was put into a coma by a Pokemon to explain that Pokemon don't exist in the first place.
if Ash was hit by lighting and then fell in coma and pokemon are all his fantasy then how did he get his pikachu and what were those sperows and he had a poster with bulbasaur charmander and squirtle before he was hit?
Maybe the events before the lightning attack was an altered memory of what actually happened. He lived through the event once more, except in the world of his fantasy.
there is a flaw in that last theory: you said that he got put into a coma after getting struck by spearow but if pokemon never existed spearow would not exist either also if nintendo planed to end the show by him waking up then nintendo is pretty shit at making good endings
Why Ash is always ten: He has no concept of time. He doesn't have a watch, and he doesn't have a calendar, so he just says he's ten because he has no idea of his real age. 20 years from now he will still say he's 10. Makes sense to me .3.
john wilkinson He has a watch in later episodes so he actually can tell time. Also, he remembers anniversaries and such so he can't only be 10. Going by his own statement and using a theoretical constant for time in the episodes, Ash should be at least 16. Even if Ho-oh were to prevent him from aging, he wouldn't have realized it at the time.
In the Mystery of Mew, When Sir Aaron was getting ready to go to the Tree of Beginning and he keeps Lucario from following him by using his staff and........a few (hundreds or thousands) of years later Lucario appears and thus this proves that......... TIME TRAVEL is possible and Sir Aaron was one of the first people to use it 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
If it's Ash's dream, then how could Red, obviously older than Ash, exist? How could Silver, Gold, Black, White, Lucas, Barry, etc., all exist? How could the GAMES exist? Ash's Coma theory has a lot of holes in it. It just can't be a thing. It's fun to think about, but it just doesn't make sense outside of the anime.
i dont like the theory too and it doesnt make sense if u think ash is always the same age because the anime is fgor 10 years old kids ash is ten years old because of that and the game doesnt have anything to do with the anime the game isnt just for kids( lavender town original sprites gosht girls etc)
The coma theory would also explain why more and more pokemon take shape of physical everyday items such as garbage bag, ice cream cone, gears, candles, swords, keys, and coffins. I know early gens had examples of this too but it seems more prevalent nowadays, my guess is if the theory is true ash will wake up within the next few generations because more and more pokemon are resembling things he has seen and known in reality.
