Direct site to site wireless energy transference: Having a large solar array in orbit of a planet that can “beam” energy to the surface would be pretty awesome. Or maybe an extra small drone system that can operate without a physical power supply. If that was OP, then just two static grids that can wirelessly transfer power as long as it’s in line of site, similar to the laser antenna. More Gases for alternate thrusters: Being able to harvest other forms of gas or combinations of gases (Maybe craft-able solid forms of the gas for easier inventory management. Active time camera streaming to LCD panels: I’ve seen scripts and a mod that attempts to do this, but it’s not very good. I want to have a command deck on my large capital ships that have walls of LCD panels that I can view sides of the ship in real time: I think that this would be good if it disables 3rd person cameras from large grid ships or stations. There is no camera floating there that pressing V activates, so I don’t think it should be an option as much. Scanning tech: For PVP or high end PVE games. You can scan a ship or grid within a certain range and you can get detailed information on cargo, armaments, shield HP, and so on. This way you can evaluate the encounter in advance. Alternatively you can have anti-sensor tech on a ship, to manipulate readouts or negate the ability to have your ship scanned. I think that this can help some RP servers or game play a lot.

Okay . . . .here me out . . . .what about HANDS??. The obvious question is " would they be useful and HOW would they be useful? We've all noticed some of that weird and funky arm and wrist mechanics on some guns, we've all had an occassion where we have wanted to move something, be it a loose block or something: would we want to see our avatar placing two hands against something. Would it make an actual difference to see our character press a button, touch a pad or reach down to pick something up and more importantly, would it change gameplay? I can open a door and interact with objects whilst standing some distance away so do I want to forced to be within touching distance because that could impact vehicle design: do I want to recharge from a distance or should I have to touch a survival block to recharge. Directed Energy has a plugin he uses on stream which allows him to zoom in on distant objects . . . . . . but putting binoculars TO my face would be cool. If I choose a weapon I instantly have it in my hand but what about if my character RAISED AN ARM TO GRAB IT OFF THEIR BACK RACK !!!. . . . . . . I'm not saying I wouldn't sit there for hours doing that to watch . . . . .but I'd totally do that. So, what do we think about hands? Could we ?. SHOULD we and more importantly, CAN we? Also: ladders and cockpit animations.

Having to actually use your hands for stuff would be interesting - especially in VR. Would certainly force you to build things differently, I imagine most people would make a beeline for a welding ship of some kind, haha I would definitely be into something like that though - as much as I enjoy whenever my character turns into Stretch Armstrong... Also, cockpit animations would be super cool! Ladders I'd just be happy with not having my jetpack turn on the second I reach the top, haha!

Cool video. What i would like is to have more interior corridor blocks with more lights with different cosmetics coz there is only 1 with a light. Or pressurised elevators? Also some custom 2 block wide doors or interior modular doors. Pressurised airlock dock (connector)

Has anyone come up with an armoured suit that's useful? I'd like to be able to don an armoured suit when tackling turrets in a base or ship, a suit that can take a few hits or even a hand held shield. . . . . . .and when we gonna be able to just have NORMAL clothes: at the end of a successful days scavenging, plundering and salvaging, I just want to kick back in a seat and down a Solar beer or two. Nice vid btw and some great ideas.

Hope you don't mind if I steal them for the part 2 😋 🍻 And HELL YEAH, it's about time the character customisation thing got some love - we could have some kind of "wardrobe" block to go along with the bed/bathroom/shower/etc - it's always sat weird for me that the MEDBAY is also a changing room?

I think most modders make mods as a hobby they don't get paid by keen or anyone they work hard to make there creations if it was easy everyone would be doing it and they choose to share there creations with us so a huge thank you to modders

I think a realistic gravity and orbit mod would be really cool. Something similar to KSP where we could have those sort of orbital and interplanetary maneuvers.

Good news about binoculars, that's on the front page of the workshop right now. CCTV is a little more complicated. It's shown up a few times, but each time the project died. Ultimately you have to render every scene multiple times, and it's a performance killer. Regarding the idea of a larger universe, there's a mod out there that simulates this by allowing players to jump between "systems," which are actually just linked servers. Check out Elite Sensors for exactly what you're looking for on that end. There is a PB script that offers a decent worldmap, but SEMinimap is arguably better. There is a cloaking device mod too. It's actually decently balanced by power consumption based on grid size. It sounds like you need a pro to show you some stuff. Collab?

@@FatMiddleAgedMan in all fairness, I picked up the game its first day on Steam Greenlight and am slowly approaching the 10k hour mark. I didn't have any particular type of collab in mind. Right now my big project is building my ultimate Evil Villain lair. It's unrealistic to expect everyone, or anyone for that matter, to be as invested as I am.

That sounds interesting - maybe we do some kind of base tour, or project showcase? Show off some of the things you've built over the years? I just want to wish for a universe that is alive. Like Empyrion or No Man Sky. New faction and people to interact with. New factions and new technology to unlock. It would go so well with the multiple systems.

Yeah, haven't played Empyrion, but 100% agree with No Mans Sky. That game has an amazing universe to explore - I'd love for Space Engineers to pull off something like that!

Empyrion does some things well i have about 6k hours in it. But it would be easier to mod space enginners to get what you want than get emp to be what you want

The cct is a thing that you can do, but it's more a plugin then a standard mod. I don't remember what it's called though

Sorry, been ill for a while so only just checked this! Yes, those would be awesome! You can probably build something now using the custom turret control - would take a bit of engineering though, haha

Great video, I love mods and im all the time looking for new ones so i can help fill you in on some of them. Im looking through my list and trying to see if i have some that fit your list. Do you know about the plugin loader though? It has some cool stuff as well.

So, not sure if you're on PC or XBOX, but on our PC community server we have previously used this one: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=306848014 However, it hasn't been updated in a while, so the power output proportion may not fit your needs, though size-wise they are a nice visual fit for most of my builds.
