@@mike_404 I did my College US History final presentation on Reagan because, while I like Trump and Schwarzenegger, he is the very ideals of what conservatism is about.
Funny. Tons of Canadians know more about US policies than Americans. A few of my US politics professors were Canadian, and they had been thoroughly studying the US presidency for decades.
As an American he is right Canada and most other countries are for more educated than Americans. Look at our education system what's a passing grade now a 50%? Kids show up every other day and all they really have to do is at least try and they will get good grades.
Because he eliminated the national debt, destroyed the second bank of the USA, defused the first real threat of secession from South Carolina, (even though it was, controversial created migration towards the western USA with the trail of tears.)
@Brian I don’t rlly think Andrew Jackson deserves to be on the top ten personally. I can think of way better presidents but he’s definently not the worse. I’ll probably place him in top twenty.
3:44-4:18 You forgot that President Roosevelt was the creator of the United States Forest Service. Together with conservationist, John Muir, he founded 150 national forests, 51 bird reserves, 4 national game preserves, 5 national parks, and 18 national monuments. I'm a city boy, born and raised, but I’ve always felt like the forest was my home. And I thank God and Heaven that Teddy helped to preserve the wonders of nature.
What I love about him the most? Is he was the most Adventurous President we've ever had in the White. Before and After. The man did so much in his time on Earth.
@Shreya Singh Yes he is overrated as fuck and people like to pretend that he is a saint just because he died. He had an opportunity to limit the power of the CIA after the failure of the Bay of Pigs but instead of that he fired Dulles and putted McCone in his place giving the CIA way more power than they deserved. His death only made him a martyr if it wasnt for that he will only be known as the president that banged Marilyn Monroe.
JFK couldn’t get anything done and was actually LBJ his vp who passed most of his bills but instead of getting us out of Vietnam he sent more troops so nobody gave him the credit he deserved
I feel we have forgotten that: 1. Jackson beat his assassin with his cane 2. Teddy Roosevelt got shot, delivered a 90 minute speech, and then went to the hospital.
Chase Dimmer well at least ronald reagan didnt get blown in the oval office by someone about half his age. There is no winning argument that ronald reagan wasnt majestic
Lightnng4563 He NEGOTIATED. He wasnt a war monger like bush was, if you think war is more important than negotiation than you are very wrong. I never said reagan was absolutely perfect (he almost was), but i would choose a reagan over a clinton, bush, or obama any day
Aaron S In selling weapons to Iran, Reagan committed treason and violated his campaign promise to never negotiate with terrorists. He should have gone to prison for it, and he would have if Ollie North didn't step up and take the blame. Reagan supported the Taliban and assisted the CIA in training Osama Bin Laden. Reagan's failed economic policy of "trickle-down" economics resulted in the poor getting screwed over and massive amounts of deficit in this country. Believe it or not, but Jimmy Carter created more jobs in 4 years than Reagan did in 8. Not only was Reagan not perfect, but he was the furthest thing from it. He only ranks highly in public opinion because of conservative bias, meaning that conservatives will always praise and defy Reagan as a god while historians will simply rank him on his presidency, which was only about average for a president, because Reagan is probably the most overrated president in American history.
Many great ideas for top 10s. I have numerous suggestions in the entertainment field, but here are some different ones since you guys are advocating other stuff: - Inventors - Impressionist painters - Renaissance artists - Best selling books of the 21st century - English writers - Female writers - Biggest man made structures - Philosophers - Greatest museums - Greatest religious temples - Greatest bridges Hope it helps! Love your channel.
You realise Reagan raised taxes on the poor, the social security tax on middle class and robbed the social security trust fund, expanded the drug war, tripled the debt, sold weapons to terrorists, overthrew democratic governments and so on?
@@123dan165 Are you kidding me? FDR has so much dirt on him that I could write an essay And Obama... check out how was Libya before and after his interventions... Besides his failed obamacare and interventions in the economy... Because of his disatrous policies you will see a new recession in the next years
@@Fernando-iy3fg I mean even with all his flaws, historians and myself include him in the top 3. I trust people who do this stuff for a living than someone in the comments
Yeah with people hating on Trump, and sitting during the star spangled banner of all things. I mean like come on people! The right to bare arms is in the US constitution for God's sake!
Basically here's the comment section summed up 50% are complaining that Reagan didn't make it. 20% are complaining that Jackson Mande it 20% are complaining that JFK is too low 10% are actual good comments.
Meh....I really dont know what to think of JFK he had some huge blunders (bay of pigs, Vietnam) but he inspired the nation like no one else....plus he really wasn't in office that long
Austin Madore Whilst WillHunting1995 Didn’t Respond I’ll Tell You Why He Is Overrated. His Cons: 1. Bay Of Pigs 2. He Started The Cuban Missile Crisis 3. He Was The First President Who Send Troops To Vietnam His Pros: 1. Great Speeches 2. Saved America From The Cuban Missile Crisis But As I Already Mentioned In My Cons List He Started It Finally He Got Shot Before He Could Do Anything That Good I Get It People Like Him & All But You Just Gotta Admit That He Is Overrated.
Theodore Roosevelt is my #1 pick. Loves nature, believes in progress, and created a genuine free market by eliminating monopolies and trusts. What a Republican (and head of state) ought to be.
+K1productions Well now we have an unemployment problem, thousands are not working and on well fare. Taking money from the middle-class, that work, while they are collectinh wages from the goverment. The goverment takes that money from the middle-class. The middle-class man is screwed in the modern day food chain. I call for a middle-class patriotic reformation. So, to be completely honest, monopolies were a good thing. Monopolies shouldn't have been abolished, just should have had certain restrictions.
Demetrios Sacha even though the vast majority of those on welfare DO work, full-time at that, and still cannot make enough to support their family. in the meantime, how much they make off of welfare in a month, a middle-class family can spend in a day or two. In the meantime, the taxes upon the middle class will not drop ANY by even a hundred families ending welfare. In the meantime, far MORE money is being taken from the middle class by CORPORATE welfare. Those taking MILLIONS from the government, while they have more than enough to spend. Not to mention blank checks handed to military contractors to build war machines we do not need, for wars we do not need to fight, jacking up the pricetags on materials that should spend $10, and charging thousands upon thousands for each one. Monopolies were a good thing? My gods, you have been so brainwashed, you are beyond any hope.
I can’t argue with the list although I may have changed a few. Did not realize Polk’s achievements. Thanks for sharing this information. Lincoln definitely deserves s #1
IrishColin94 What Ronald Reagan are you talking about. He made the unemployment rate caused by Carter practically go away within 2 years, caused the overtight government regulations, high taxication of corperations that held back tech advances to disappear. Becuase of his massive removal of government influance, and his policies of deregulation we have much of the tech we take for granted today, at much lower prices. He is also highly responsible for the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the sign of oppression, he is partly responsible for the fall of the USSR. He did so good during his first term that all but 2 states, voted for him in his re-election, he even received California, and New York durring re-election, states that previoulsy always voted democrat. So please do research before posting your left wing BS. Thanks
I'm talking about the fact that he (not only he) helped to create the aggressive military spending of today, which has severely increased since before his time. He did in fact triple the debt, did he not? Did he not spend a ridiculous amount of money as the President of the United States? Yes, he did great thing but he wasn't actually fantastic. I love JFK, I think he is the most likable president in the past 100 years, but he doesn't deserve to be in the list either. They got the top 4 right with Roosevelt, Washington, FDR, and Lincoln. Sorry, Reagan does not deserve to be in those top 4. He was probably top 15 honestly, and MAYBE top 10. But he is in no way a lock, or anywhere close to the top.
IrishColin94 Well according to a national survey, Lincoln is number 1, Reagan is 2, and FDR is 3. The thing I do not understand is why is Nixson so hated, yes he also made mistakes, but Richard Nixon turned the worst enemy of the US (China) into its best trading partner. The main reason I think that America needs another president like Reagan is because I do not like the government all in my business, Reagan's policy was get the government out of business and people's lives, the closest any country came to pure capatiolism was the USA from 1981-1989, it was also the greatest period of econimic expansionship. The reason the debt tripples is because he had to cover the losses caused by the Ford and Carter Adminstrations
Read a Washington biography and see the light. Polk? An effective president, but in Congress Lincoln opposed Polk's war on Mexico. Grant thought that same war was dishonest and deeply disturbing.
10. Terrible president 9. Overrated. He was average at best 8. Good pick. Great job! Yea, he was pretty good 7. HELL NO! 6. SIX! SIX!? He's number one! 5. More like number three 4. Yes! He belongs here! 3. Slightly too high, but nonetheless belongs on this list 2. Correct! 1. Teddy is a top five president, but he isn't number one, more like four or five
JQA wrote a lot of it. But, he was Monroe’s Secretary Of State at the time. So basically he did write it, but he wasn’t president then, so he didn’t sign it into law.
Hello, I’m here to start meaningful discussion. I think he should be on the list because the trail of tears happened during van buren, but just the negotiations were under Jackson. The whole dealings with them is a blemish, but a blemish on a great record. He created the Democratic Party , and created the age of Jackson, as it is called, referring to a period of heightened democracy and political involvement. He SAVED THE UNION, from the threat of nullification, which a weaker president would not have done. He prolonged the civil war at a time when the civil war would have ended the American experiment. He stood up to corporate corruption in the second bank. “The bank, mr van buren is trying to kill me, but I will kill it.” Then he did Overall achievement and force of will: served 2 terms, landslides both times, served in the house and senate, and the only president to serve in 1812 and the revolution. He was completely formidable, he succeeded in everything in life, got his vp elected after him. He killed a man for insulting his wife and he, he attached and beat a man that tried to assassinate him, and they had to tear the two away, and he defeated every political enemy (well except the election of 1824). He was the most powerful president, and he deserves a spot on the list.
Where's James Madison? Yeah, I know his image has been tarnished because of the War of 1812 but I don't think people realize just how influential he was.
1) George Washington 2) Abraham Lincoln 3) Franklin D. Roosevelt 4) Harry Truman 5) Theodore Roosevelt 6) Dwight Eisenhower 7) Ronald Reagan 8) George HW Bush 9) Andrew Jackson 10) Thomas Jefferson Honorable Mentions John Adams James K. Polk William McKinley James Monroe Ulysses S. Grant
#9. WAY too low! His actions saved thousands of lives in the Cuban Missile Crisis. #8. Don't care. Doesn't excuse Trail of Tears. #3. Couldn't agree more! Wonderful president! #1. One of the top 10 best men who ever lived.
Reagan alright, but Wilson and Truman.... Wilson went to the war for no good reason, created the FED, stablished income tax, and he is the reason that the KKK become more popular, he had done a positive review of a movie talking good things about the KKK. Harry Truman bombed japan with 2 fucking nukes, I don't think I have to say anything else about him...
@@Cornponetheape What? Are you saying that this ended the war sooner, so saved lifes? If that is what you are thinking I am impressed that I am going to be the first to tell you about the concept of fair war You don't attack civilians, people that had nothing to do with that war in the first place! Other important thing is that the us should not be fighting against japan in the first place! Roosevelt stablished a lot of sanctions against Japan, he had been provoking the japoneese for a war! After that, the USA had a computer that could track the japonese planes, so it was 100% possible to save lifes in Pearl Harbor, but that wasn't done because Roosevelt wanted war! After that Truman nuked inocent people! And as I have explained to you, it is wrong even in a fair war!
@@Fernando-iy3fg And had the Japanese invaded America and had Nukes. They would have done much worse. And the US could have nuked the former Japanese capital. But they didn't because of its cultural heritage. If they Americans wanted to utterly destroy Japan. They would have chosen that. And also if they saw the Japanese coming. They would have counterattacked. Do you honestly think they would find out of a Japanese plot to cripple their fleet and invade the Philippines and NOT join the war.
He didn’t have a long lasting effect on the economy because clinton wiped it after bush he also doubled the national debt he didn’t do much to try and stop Saddam Hussein’s rise to power. So while he was a good president for the time he didn’t have a long lasting effect that would put him in top 10 apart from of course his brilliant one liners.
Yea, because Reaganomics worked soooooo well for our country. Lets see how well Trump's version of tax cuts for the wealthy and "trickle down Reaganomics" works out.
Reaganomics fucked the economy and Reagan harbored funds to Contra terrorist groups in Nicaragua. Why Conservatives worship him is beyond me. They're like the people who thought Margaret Thatcher was a good leader....
Robert Hays, now you're talking straight out of your ass, Jimmy Carter nearly destroyed the American economy with his economic malaise. I'm not denying he is a good man, but Carter was a TERRIBLE president. I know. I was around during his presidency, and that's why Carter retains very UNPOPULAR numbers as an ex-president. I respect Carter as a man and as a humanitarian, but I'm sorry, everything fell apart during his presidency, (record oil prices, and gas lines, record inflation, hostage takeover in Iran, etc.) Carter lost BADLY during his reelection, even Teddy Kennedy wanted him out of office for goodness sakes and the Democratic Party was in shambles for years. The Democratic Party didn't take over the White House for 12 years after Carter left office, Get your facts straight next time dude!
@@suggs972 Reagan was arguably better than Eisenhower they just didn't want to put him on the list because people will see that he was probably the best of all time and they don't want to accept that as leftists. However Eisenhower I would put at #2 on a top 10 list just behind Reagan at #1 because they were both tremendously helpful to our country economically which is what the right does. While the left tries to baby everyone and give them welfare ultimately taking away our independence which is pretty much what our country is based off of.
+Benthegamer these people are democrats. and like it or not it said in the declaration of independence we could say what we think. so let the Wachmojo think what they believe.
+Lightnng4563 Well, it's almost impossible to leave all the Republicans off, since there have been more Republican presidents (since it's been Republicans and Democrats) by a good margin. So they left off Reagan because he's one of the more recent ones. In 50 years, Reagan will be a shoe-in top 5 in these lists.
+Cardinalsarelame debatable. Reagan only ranks highly in public opinion because of conservative bias. He's one of the most overrated presidents in history.
The Salty Spittoon he did support slavery, but didn’t support slaughter of Indians. Instead he used the Indian Removal Act as a bit of a compromise to save as many Indian lives as possible though he felt he was betraying his own children by using it.
No he was just there. The USSR dismantled itself. Fuck the communist hunters, all they did was make innocent people hate us. My generation will suffer for years to come because of the seeds sown by Reagan Eisenhower and Nixon.
live 922 Probs because he doubled the national debt and his economic policies were erased by bush and clinton so the long term effects were never seen.
He is only loved by his party and because of his politicial views so many people hated him. The only thing he did was making jokes and inveiding Grenada.
Ipswich Rookie You realise Reagan raised taxes on the poor, the social security tax on middle class and robbed the social security trust fund, expanded the drug war, tripled the debt, sold weapons to terrorists, overthrew democratic governments and so on?
Kennedys a bit overrated. Completely bungled the Bay of Pigs and caused the Cuban Missile Crisis, failed to get any meaningful civil rights legislation passed, got bullied by Kruschev, got us further involved in Vietnam, etc. I think Kennedy was an above average president but he's nowhere near as great as people believe he is.
Ipswich Rookie How the hell is jfk better than Lincoln, Washington, teddy Roosevelt, ike, FDR, Monroe, etc. He’s very overrated and is probs around the 15th best. Why do you rste JFK so highly?
KKKennedy is easily the most OVERRATED president in US history. He got THOUSANDS of Cubans killed at the Bay of Pigs and nearly started World War 3 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Plus Kennedy ESCALATED the Vietnam War along with LBJ and LIED ABOUT IT!
I would have included Truman and Madison maybe in place of Jackson and Monroe. James Madison wrote a lot of the Bill of Rights, Federalist Papers, Constitution, and co-founded the democratic republican party. Truman was the first president to fight for Civil Rights legislation since the Civil War, and was a big part in creating NATO and the UN which are still important today.
Good, but I feel Regean should be on the list (IK like, 50% of the comments are, REEEEEEEEEE NO REGEAN, I am just speaking opinion, I personally think REGEAN should have been on the list instead of Monroe, as Monroe was a GREAT president, but REGEAN ended the Cold War, started the “Star Wars” program (Although it was expansive I know) and made America a even stringer Military Power. The Soviets also were aggressive during this time, and a Regean responded, not “appropriately,” but fought fire with fire. Bottom line, he should probably be on the list, but this is your opinion, and I respect that.
Omar Mufti not entirely. Andrew Jackson was an Indian fighter, yes. However he was actually quite found of native Americans after fight amount them in the war of 1812. He also used the Indian removal Act as a means to save Native American lives, and rarely enforced the act. When he did enforce it, the native Americans were treated very well and humanly. It was his successor Martin Van Biden who created the Trail of Tears
Top 10: 1) Abraham Lincoln 2) FDR 3) George Washington 4) T. Roosevelt 5) Dwight D. Eisenhower 6) Harry S. Truman 7) Thomas Jefferson 8) Ronald Reagan 9) JFK 10) Wilson
@@jackwilliamsmith8734 I'm not an American, either. And I won't call Woodrow Wilson trash, but he thought the USA shouldn't fight in a war and shortly after that, America fought in WWI.
Ipswich Rookie You realise Reagan raised taxes on the poor, the social security tax on middle class and robbed the social security trust fund, expanded the drug war, tripled the debt, sold weapons to terrorists, overthrew democratic governments and so on? Also McKinley committed genocide, started American imperialism, drastically raised tarrifs and introduced the gold standard which are all bad imo
George Washington could have become the king of America but didnt giving up that type of power is awesome Him And Honest Abe were some of the best presidents .... MY OPINION
I totally agree that Abraham Lincoln is definitely #1 and that Franklin Roosevelt is definitely #2. I am grateful that Franklin ended the Great Depression.
Ended the depression? The unemployment for example started dropping when his programs from the 1st New deal were declared unconstitutional When he created a 2nd new deal, the unemployment rate went up again The life expectancy was lower in the 30s than any other time A lot of small bussines went broke because he forbid discounts, he had paid farmers not to produce to increase the price of food There is a grat book about it called New Deal or Raw Deal, I sugest you check it out, but if you don't want to read it just search for an interview of the author or something like that FDR was the worst president ever, not only because of his economical illiteracy, but because of what he did to the japonese, in 1942 after the attack of pearl harbor he put japonese Americans in concentration camps The war as well is a very controversial point, there are some researches that sugest he knew about Pearl Harbor but didn't do anything because he wanted an excuse to go to war, which makes sense, since he only ran for a third time using the excuse of the war About Lincoln, he as well is one of the worst presidents, he might have free the slaves, and signed the homestead act But the war he started was not about slavey! If you dig up his anti slavery quotes, you are gonna see that they were all said after the beginning of the Civil War, and the reason for that was that he started to use that as a way to get supporters from the north! The real reason he started the Civil War was because of a tarif on exporting goods, that basically transfered money from the agrarian south to DC, and people who payed that, in the majority were not slave owners, but poor people! Lincoln with his war ended the right of secession! Lincoln also suspended habeas courpus and arrested people from the north that were against the war One more thing about Lincoln and slavery, is that he had said a few times that he was pro slavery and supported the fugitive slave act If you want to know more about Lincoln I sugest Tom DiLozenzo trilogy about him, "the real Lincoln" , "Lincoln unmasked" and "the problem with lincoln" and if you don't want to read all that, you can just search on RU-vid tom dilorenzo about Lincoln and you will find some good material as well on
