unmatched by the older generations either... when tennis was more gentlemanly...minus real rivalry... these two are like warriors from greek...roman...mahabharata...mythologies... all put together... djokovic mostly lags in the 1st 2 sets and suddenly comes to life in the 3rd set... in all claycourt items against rafa... and finally they create hell with those tiebreakers... it takes a strong heart if you are a fan of either of these two... they can cause a heart attack...
Yes true.. but at the same time to think of nadal and federer played 40 times which is obviously much less than rafole(55), but 24 out 40 were finals is amazing. Guess they played way too many times and almost all finals i think between 2005-2010
Yes yes, but if Nadal wasn't running scared from Djokovic often at grand slams to get his ass handed to him on hard and grass courts by tanking matches one or two matches away from potential meeting they would be at 80 matches by now and it wouldn't be one match victory advantage to Djokovic either, it would be something more like 48-32 LOL and he would lead his ass on grass comfortably at something like 5-2 instead of being tied at 2-2... ....But because he strategically avoids messing his h2h with him even further and only not afraid to face him at Roland Garros of all 4 slams - we have 30-29 these days instead...
If Djokovic played aggressive all the time like in atp cup, the tour wouldn't stand a chance. He hit 70+ winners against Nadal and Medvedev alone (in 5 sets).
Yeah he was in killer mode. But Rafa was not playing ombeliebable in my opinion, Medvedev had higer level than Rafa in that tournament, he was close to defeat Nole. I mean Rafa lost to Goffin and struggled against De Minaur
The greatest rivalry in men’s tennis history. Since first meeting in 2006, they have played against each other 55 times; the most between any two players in the Open era, which began in 1968. What’s more, their career series is remarkably close: Djokovic has won 29x while Nadal has won 26x.
How are you a fed fan then? Fed's play style and shotmaking trumps theirs, they have more wins against him sure, but no one will ever play the game of tennis like he does, that's why he is the greatest, not because of the titles he won.
@@FExpiate No, bro Federer has been classed the GOAT for his title victories, now equalled by Rafa. Rogers playing style might be the best, but it's illogical to characterise Roger as the GOAT on the basis of style of his play. In almost every field success is titled only to the person whose results n work are the best... Not on the basis of style of work or anything like that... Hope u got my Answer. ❤❤❤.
Knowledgeispower _ Not necessarily. It’s about preference. Nadal-Federer has better shotmaking than this rivalry and a better storyline, but it was a bit one sided in their primes.
Currently both these players have won 7 matches each on their slightly less dominant Surface in their head to head. Djokovic leading 20-7 on hard including indoor as well and Nadal 18-7 on clay and its tied with 2-2 on Grass. Amazing Rivalry.❤🔥
The fact that Djokovic still won this match in Miami after Rafa stole this point from him @11:35 is amazing Mental toughness. Also, the joy and excitement from Rafa after winning the point is awesome.
Hold up! Madrid 2009 final? Federer beat Nadal in the final that year, possibly setting up his win at the French open. Nevertheless, great list, shame you don't have the rights for grand slams.
33:21 ABSOLUTAMENTE ÉPICO, LO VI EN VIVO Y AUN ME PROVOCA LA MISMA SENSACIÓN QUE AQUELLA VEZ, IMPRESIONANTE ESA MANERA DE SALVAR ESE MATCH POINT EN CONTRA 🔥🔥🔥🔥 EL MATADOR!!!!
Great selection, two absolute warriors. But I would've added both the 2013 French open semi-final and the 2012 Australian open final at least in the top 5.
If i can put an other match on the ranking i will choosing the final of the 2013 monte carlo masters for the significance because djokovic ended two streak : first the end of the 46 winning streak and secondly the end of the streak of 8 titles in a row at monte carlo made by rafa
Since you want to throw out yrs to fit a narrative. Since Rome in 16, Nadal is 3-0 vs Novak on Clay. See, we can pick yrs to be bias for Nadal as well. So no, he doesn't consistently beat Nadal on Clay, as he hasn't beaten him in 4 yrs on the dirt.
ThexCookieMan Most of his wins were in Rafa’s bad years though. In 2014 he was coming off an injury, 2011 he was in his head plus Nadal played quite poorly for most of the clay season, 2015-16 Nadal was just playing bad, and either way he always got himself together and beat Djokovic at the French (besides in 2015). So no I wouldn’t call that “consistently”.
Djokovic est l’un de ceux qui applaudissent sincèrement et régulièrement l’intelligence du coup de leur adversaire. Il est avant tout un véritable amoureux du tennis, là où Nadal est plus particulièrement un amoureux de la gagne.
for me as nadal fan the real time that i really felt that the djokovic will be the n1 rival for nadal was in the semi final madrid 2009 and on clay and his crowd backing him he still push him to the limit for me the real goat putting emotion away is djoko
Let's say it: clay is a funny variation to the game of tennis, but is less important than the other surfaces. Nadal is the strongest on clay, but in term of weeks at #1 he's the number 6 of all times. This explains all. Djokovic is the number 2 (and will become number 1 in a month), and is better on hard court and grass court. The real tennis is on faster surfaces.
Simply not true. Clay is not “less important” than the other two surfaces and is no less real tennis than on Hc or grass. There are three major tennis surfaces and without the variety, tennis wouldn’t be the sport it is.
