Why don't they just install a black tank and toilet in the sleeper. You don't have to use it I'm sure the truck stops would put dump stations

I work for a Walmart store, been there 3 years and applied to the associate to driver program. Im a single mom with a 2.5 year old. I live a mile from the dc. Im struggling with the idea of being away so much, but we're currently homeless and car-less and this would turn the situation around immediately. If I get accepted that is anyways.

Yes it's really hard to get into the program so I've heard. The being away from home isnt so bad especially when you are do close to the dc! Other trucking jobs will keep you out weeks at a time and pay crappy walmart pays good and is only 5 days out a week (for me). I hope you get in but if its not paying the bills youve gotta make changes asap! Good luck!

@@JessChristopher that's awesome, please come back and update on how the training goes! We had a few people from the store apply but the SM has the whole store blocked from transferring, even to the DC. Extremely weird and frustrating. Probably going to quit and reapply at a different store down the line then look into trucking again

@ThisTruckingLife that would be cool.. from a person who hasn't had a bit of trucking to now has been incredible.. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia.. also Long Island "NY City" states and places I've been to so far.

How long does it take working as an associate (3 months?, 6 months?, 1 yr?) until you could apply for associate to driver program? I'm a trucker since 2006. No driver job here in Atlanta, GA. So I'm thinking of working as an associate for a few months, then switch to driver.

They have an associate to driver program. I'm not sure what the stipulations are though. Get like 6 months and then talk to your manager about more information.

Hey man quick question, I was pulled in for a worn license plate and got a warning even though I have a temporary via email and proof of a new one being ordered. They also gave me a warning for improper use of PC where I drove home after delivering a load, and a warning regarding entering shipping info in a totally separate area from the loaded/empty calls which I fill out regularly. Other than this, I have no violations tickets or accidents. Will this affect my chances of being hired at Walmart? Thanks brother

What about Walmart fleet development academy program? I’ve got a year and some change experience with werner already just looking for a better company to support my family and I. I can not apply in SC , i don't see any vacancies in my state, if I pay in another state, what should I do with parking?

That is a downfall with the career site. They should give you the opportunity to be notified when a matching position becomes open. As far as working out of a different state, that's what alot of drivers do here if you can stand the long drive back and forth. Keep in mind depending on the program we are only on the road 5 or 6 days then home 2 or 3. You would drive your personal vehicle to the DC and they have assigned parking so you put your vehicle in the trucks spot. Would you like me to reach out to the recruiter for your area?

Been at the fleet for 8 years. More cons than pros for me. The only thing best right now for me is Weekends off. My PTO and what I am putting into my 401k. Good luck to all the new drivers that hire on. Money is there but you have to learn the Walmart way of doing it all in the name of safety.

i got 42 months exp and take loads to walmart DCs n see the hiring signs but i believe in the saying the grass aint always greener , i only made 82k last year but i know that 110 tax bracket gonna take a big ol bite lolololol

@@luisrenta2550 That's exactly what happened. Walmart thought that just because of their name alone that they could just burst into the intermodal sector and assert themselves and make a huge splash. But, it didn't turn out that way, and Walmart lost millions on top of millions in revenue. The real big dog when it comes to intermodal is J.B.Hunt, and Walmart learned that the hard way. Plenty of time, effort, and huge amounts of revenue were lost before J.B. Hunt served the final deathblow. Facts 💯

Yeah I get it but you're only in a truck for 4 or 5 days in a row .. in those cameras could save your career I don't know why you wouldn't want a dash cam they don't face you they're not turned on to record into the cab. But to each his own. If you change your mind it's a good job!
