Sean and Jonathan try to guess the top 10 selling pedals on Reverb! Get out your pen and paper and make your list and see how close you get. You might be surprised!
I've been using the GE7, Blues Driver, DS1, Boss Tremelo, Boss Dimension C and Nobels mini ....the Boss pedals have been on my board for 40 years or so. GE7 is now off my board and used in my effects loop on my Fender amp as an attenuator. That EQ can let you adjust from single coil P90 or humbuckers....I recently added a Dispatch Master I won from Jedd Hughes in a contest and I picked up the Wampler Triumph and Phenaom pedals which love single coils. I have 3 wah wahs that I haven't played in over 20 years....I should sell them.
Thanks to this channel I resisted the urge to buy another guitar and instead bought my first tube amp, a Princeton Reverb 65 reissue. Thanks Casino Guitars!
It’s cool to hate Tubescreamers because players want to separate themselves from the pack. Although, there is a reason it is one of the most popular pedals of all time. Especially stacked.
Carbon Copys are legendary. That’s why they are on every top ten list. Ol reliable. Sean wins king hater on the internet today. I’m gonna get him a donner multi effects pedal. 😂😂 Temu is running a special today.
Ooooh a pedal video! I’m excited. For years I said “I don’t need pedals!” And then I was happy with my guitars and amps so of course you need a new rabbit hole to fall down. Just ordered an Unusual EAS by blackskycraft. I like the weird modulation pedals. That wannabee dual drive is such a perfect pun, a perfect name, and it’s so PRETTY. Don’t need it but wish I did because it’s so perfect. I agree with Sean - I want a Chroma Console so bad! The limitations actually seem like a good thing for me to avoid option paralysis. And I love the vintage sounds and aesthetic.
lol I’m an older guy too and most of my pedals are from 2003. I took a guitar break for several years, to be a drummer, and came back to an entirely new world of guitars and amps. Just as I’m getting settled all the prices double! 😢 Only 500,000 DS-1s? I would have guessed a lot more!
Greer light speed and the 40th anniversary Nobles ODR (replaced by regular ODR with this one), have those on my tele board now and they are fantastic by themselves or stacked together!! The plumes is nice too as I use that (setting II) with a cali 1176 compressor for my lap steel board. The new Airchild 660 compressor is really good as well. Pushing that into a greer makes fantastic OD tones.
Good video man lots of good petals out there. No love for the carbon copy delay by MXR ?I have one and I love it. It does all the delay things lol anyway, keep up the great work.
I think this is the difference between what do guitarist buy and "What has hype that I can find for less". That and 'What do RU-vid videos say I need and can get for less" I think if you saw a top 10 list from say, Guitar Center, Sam Ash or some local shop like Casino, the list would be WAY different. Per what I see the top 10, in reverse order is 10) The latest hot Amp in a box pedal 9) Whatever Pedal John Mayer threw on his board this week 8)Whatever Pedal Josh Scott(JHS)demoed this week and made sound like some hyper expensive classic pedal 7)A pedal some youtuber dug out of his closet and demoed and proclaimed "I forgot it sounded this great! 6)The latest EHX Pedal 5)The latest Boss Pedal 4)The latest MXR pedal 3)The Latest JHS Limited Edition pedal(The Taco Bolt anyone?!) 2)The Latest Collaboration pedal(Example JHS and EHX Lizard Queen) and number one 1)The latest pedal sent to all the youtubers who proclaim it the best thing they have ever heard and dont know how they ever got along without it.(See HX Stomp) The list you guys have are what we normal non influenced guitarist have. What sounds good and whats interesting. ANY list without a Klon on it(Tumnus for me also!!) is just FLAWED. There is a REASON JHS got a bazillion orders for a NOTAKLON in one day.
I have only a few related to the Top Ten: a 40th Ann. DS-1, a Carbon Copy Bright and a GE-7. There are way too many pedals on the pedal shelves in my music room.
I like pedals, I don’t buy many. I’ve got a reverb a blues driver, a fuzz, delay, chorus, flanger and reverb. They all make way more tonal variety than I can play.
Prices on many of top rated pedals can reach level of price of Guitar and/or amp they are playing, pedals do help magically recreate tones and vibe of songs you are playing though
Agree with Jonathon. I kn ow what sounds I want, and I know what I need too get those sounds. I use a ZOOM multi-effects pedal, that includes reverb, echo, flanger, phaser, and some others that I don't use. My only other pedal is a Fender Pugilist, specifically for distortion.
Ultimate tone is 3 tuner buffers that don't tune, and a distortion with the distortion off. Package that all in one pedal with no knobs and we're talking $$$$
I prefer integration with old and new gear. It's amazing what you can do with a boost, OD, Blues pedal combined with some older inexpensive multi processor or floor unit and an IR device to pull it all together. Fun subject, very entertaining.
I guess there are so many different overdrives that it was hard for them all to be up there. I love my Klon but I think the "clean boost" movement maybe cut into that which is why the Klones aren't there and the Greer Lightspeed was higher than any Klone. Given the "rock is dead" talk (long live rock!) I would have thought there'd be more reverbs and atmospheric stuff. And of all the delays, why the MXR? Size? I'd have thought an Echoplex style (Dunlop EP103 or Catalinbread Belle Epoch) would be there, or maybe the Timeline still hanging strong. And where's the MXR Phase 90?
Dunlop crybaby, nobels, tumnus germanium, imperial overdrive, halo, echohplex, mxr reverb, mxr super badass, omni reverb, a real klon. Both of my pedal boards. Have extras of most of those. A tuner on each board. Have 2 carbon copy pedals, a sd1, cloud burst, and several others that I dont use . Just took 10 pedals down to Sweetwater and sold. Have another 10 im taking down.😂
A little surprised no JHS pedals in the top 20...I thought one of those generic white JHS pedals they make might be top 10. Looked it up, they're called "Series 3" and $99. I don't own one so I'm part of the problem...
Genuine question: Since Reverb sales show what people are selling off (as in 'not keeping'), do we interpret a high ranking as a positive or a negative?
Well...every data point on Reverb includes one seller and one buyer, so at worst it's a net zero. In reality though, some reverb sales are of new stuff. So those sales don't include a seller who has had enough with this bs, but rather some retailer selling down their stock -- whereas every buyer (save perhaps the occasional Bad Monkey speculator) is someone genuinely interested in the pedal. So I think we'd have to conclude that a high ranking is at least slightly positive.
I feel so far removed from pedal culture.... univibe, wah, and drive are all I ever needed and every time I try something else it gets sold in a month cuz I have no need for it.
I don't know about the Noel's ODR1. I have one for sale on Gear Exchange for about two weeks and nobody has bought it. They're looking at it but no buyers.
Excluding extraneous variables (condition, shipping cost, wording of your description, photos included etc.) , the amount of time you’ll spend waiting to make a sale is directly proportional to the amount you’re willing to reduce your asking price by.
@Sean Hahaha! I can't stop Lolin' Out Loud! Phuckin' Sean, now there's gonna be a run on tuners. Everyone is gonna be searchin' for TWO MORE used tuners to add so they can try to attain "Super Booster" status!
I received my Notaklön last week, put it together - and WOOF! Great on its own or stack it w/ either a Bonsai (ironically set on Keeley mod), ODR mini, and/or an EP Booster w/ the Keeley compressor and DAMN!
Before hearing any of the lists, my guesses - 10 - Strymon Blue Sky 9 - Dunlop Fuzz Face 8 - Boss Overdrive 7 - Strymon Flint 6 - TC Ditto 5 - Dunlop Crybaby 4 - Boss Loopstation 3 - Boss Metalzone 2 - Ibanez Tubescreamer 1 - Boss Tuner
