It pissed me off that Fiona wasn’t even mentioned in Franks letter.

Mandy is #1 for me. Her story was so sad, and when she told lip that she knew he wouldn't take her with him it was heartbreaking.

So they were just not gonna mention that as revenge Amanda posted the nude picture of Helena online which is part of what led to Lip being kicked out of school.

Svetlana could've had an amazing storyline if she was on the show till season 11. Loved her character.

Liam is the saddest. He spent the last season worried about Frank, they only family member who seemed to truly care for him and the rest of his family just never cared about it him like they did the siblings.

Amanda was using Lip too. They were never exclusive, she’s just went nuts.

This entire list are the people the Gallaghers screwed over emotionally. When they were kids it was funny, now they are worst than Frank. Good people who wanted to help them got screwed over.

IMO Franny at least deserves a mention on this list. That poor girl was born to a mom who didn’t actually want a kid and constantly used her as a pawn to the point where franny found Frank to be a better companion most days. Yikes.

I was hoping that Liam would be treated with respect. I was hoping he and Mavar would be together, they would had each other’s back, sadly it wasn’t and never will.

Only kev and V and mickie and Ian got true endings. everyone else was screwed and felt unfinished

The character of Liam could've been developed differently than being abandoned after Fiona left. Its like none of the siblings cared enough and it seemed that Frank kinda stepped in for Liam at some point towards the end of the series.

I agree that the way Svetlana was written off was particularly unsatisfying.

#1 should've been all the fans that stuck around after season 5. We deserved better.

Mike and Gus loved Fiona dearly and she broke both their hearts like their relationship didn't matter

I really was a fan of the earlier seasons as I always hoped they would turn their lives around but reflecting on the show now, none of them wanted to get out of their toxic little bubble

Honestly I loved how Fiona began to finally put herself first. Those ungrateful brats she calls siblings didn't appreciate her, and she deserved to have a life! To be happy! To not always have to be their super woman, saving them time and time again, fixing all their mistakes, caring for them when they're too egotistical or stubborn or self destructive to do it for themselves. Things got rough for her in the end but I'm glad she got one of the rarest things a person can get in this world- a fresh start.

Fiona and little Liam! Even the last episode you could see Liam looking for someone to be his parent! When Fiona left that was his mom he had no one....and Fiona because she was a good sister/mom to her siblings and loved them enough to try! Those 2 broke my heart! As far as the guys I gotta go with Mike he was such a great guy and Fiona really stood a chance at a good life...I still would like to know what happened to her and Liam now!

I couldn't stand Tony. To me it came across like he thought he deserved Fiona just because he was nice.

I hate how no Gallegher kids barely achieves anything in life. They rose for some distance then fell back to zero or lower, over and over as a cycle. It tears a little pierce of my heart every time seeing my beloved characters in such hopeless situations to the point that I stopped watching the show for some years and just came back recently.

I personally think Lip continually got the short end of the stick. Even though he was the one with the most potential, he was reduced to a struggling alcoholic who makes nothing but wrong choices

I was a big fan of Jimmy Steve, he was by far the most compatible with the Gallaghers (albeit maybe too similar since his life was a web of lies), but I still think the writers could have ended his story with more dignity. They teased his death for an entire season then brought him back in the worst way possible, he just seemed desperate in s5 and unlike himself.

The way I’d drop everything if God sent me a Mike Pratt 😭😭

honestly, i think mickey deserved better. i love gallavich, and i am so glad they got the happy ending they deserved, but he still deserved better. as we all know, he was a bit of an ass in the beginning seasons, but he was a scared confused boy who was having feelings for another boy, knowing his father would abuse him for it, but because he loved ian SO much, he came out as gay so he could still be with him, he did everything for ian. many of the gallaghers acted as though mickey was some violent thug who was so bad for ian, when fiona said, "you turned your life around, mickey would set a match to it" , when lip said "good thing about falling for a milkovich, you can always find someone better", also saying "you always went a bit loco when mickey was around" not only did the gallagher siblings treat him badly, but so did ian at times, when he would chat shit about mickey to caleb and trevor, saying how mickey would insult him a bunch and punch him before they would bang, and even calling mickey, 'fucking nuts' to trevor. moving on from that, mickey still did everything in his power to protect ian, he came out for him, he was the one that got ian to go to a psychiatric hospital, he got ian back on his meds, he took care of ian, most importantly, he loved ian. mickey even put himself in danger with the cartel, to be in a prison cell with ian, when ian was hooked on drugs after the helicopter incident at the army, mickey was the one who brought him back home, and made sure his priorities were set on his family and his wellbeing. yeah mickey was a bit of an idiot and he did things that were wrong, and that hurt ian, but throughout the entire show, he was ian's rock, not to mention, he had one of the greatest character developments i have ever seen. not only did his character change completely for the better, he had his own storyline which encouraged the audience to see him as not just ian's boyfriend, but a real character with a real story arc, like when he started his pimp business w kev because he was unsatisfied with the way svetlana and the girls were being treated. i know mickey had his faults, but he is my all time favourite character in shameless, and i will never forgive shameless writers for the way they tried to describe mickey in the seasons he wasnt even in. all he wanted was happiness and love, and that was what he deserved, he just deserved better.

Mike Pratt Definitely felt sorry for him after he found out about the affair his brother had with Fiona.

This show turned into a revolving door of decent characters the Gallaghers took advantage of, never learning or growing, just sucking the life out of and it was fruitless and exhausting to ever root for anyone. It stopped being compelling and viewers eventually just felt like the people getting screwed over.

Liam and Mandy deserves better everyone else was storyline related.

O, the Cusack magic. Her character was someone who had the misfortune of being surrounded by ne'er-do-wells too broken to be able to appreciate the goodness she embodied. I suppose I can identify with that. But when she roared down South Wallace street in that Winnebago, I had no idea that would serve as her curtain call. Metaphorically, I spent the rest of the series longing for that RV to appear again over the horizon, but it never did. It takes a damn good actress to put that into you. Godspeed, Joan.

I’ll never understand why the fans got so upset when Fiona finally said “F them kids” & took care of herself. She gave her life to make theirs better. & they were all sooooo ungrateful. They didn’t deserve her❤️

I think Ian should be on the list, I think he had the most interesting storyline over the years of Shameless, not only did he have to struggle with his bipolar diagnosis, he also had to deal with the after math of his mother's return. I think he played an important part in the family because the younger siblings looked up to him when Fiona and Lip couldn't be there. I love Ian and I also think Mickey should have been on this list as well.

I felt really bad about Mike. Not only about Fiona but also about his now-broken relationship with his brother.

The most things that annoys me about this show. #1 Debbie is a terrible mother #2 lip is wasted potential #3 Liam could have had a real role model #4 Fiona ruined every good relationship

I disagree about Sierra, she strung Lip along knowing he was into her and used him as a rebound and to help care for her kid which he already voiced his concern to her about in the beginning. Lip uses hella people too though. lol. Liam deserved the most out of everyone :(

By the end of the series, I felt most sorry for Franny for being stuck with Debbie as a mother.

The Mavar situation never felt right. Liam wouldn't have pulled that funeral scam. Mavar was crapped on mainly by bad writing.

Fiona deserved so much better. When she wanted to make a life for herself I didn’t see it as “bad writing.” What I found bad was that the writers unnecessarily put her character through the ringer when they new it was her last season.

Tony literally Black mailed Steve into leaving the first time which led to the events which got him to the fake marriage. And then never even followed through with the reason for it

Sheila and Mike are at the top of my list. They were both great people who definitely deserved more.

I always said Fiona deserved far more but people would say I was being dumb bc she’s “just as bad as Frank and her mother” but part of why she was so dysfunctional is because nobody ever taught her how to accept good things in her life. Every time she got even one nice thing, something snatched it from her and as a result, she became self sabotaging. When you never have shit it’s hard to learn to keep shit.

The actual answer is all of them. Every single one. The show is very much about how poverty destroys people, drives them to substance abuse and how one good chance often isn't enough (look at Lip in college). None of them deserved what they went through, that's the POINT.

Jasmine and Xan also deserved better. I know that Fiona was originally going to have the lesbian storyline, but it ultimately went to Debbie. I just felt like that plotline could have resolved much better than how it did. Xan was literally abandoned by both her mother and her aunt. Wish she found people to properly raise her.

Wow this is one of the best lists I've seen on this channel. The characters included and their placements. The only person I might argue is Sheila cause she did end up happy and content and shrugging off the anchor of Frank and the negative aspects of her life.

So Mickey's rape, being shot multiple times, unfair imprisonment, abusive home life in return for undying loyalty, and basically being punished each time he took a step towards self-acceptance is just for the birds, huh?

Those 10 people really did deserve better after their actions.

I also really loved Trevor. I like the actor who played him, I loved his character development and I really liked seeing him.

Haven't you noticed that Fiona has almost never won an argument with anyone on the show except Frank and Monica and sometimes Jimmy. Almost everytime she picks a fight with someone other than her parents she loses. Most of the time she is in the wrong but even when she's right she still loses. She's lost arguments against Lip, Debbie, Ian, Carl, Veronica, her boyfriends, her husband and sometimes even Frank got the last word.

I wish Liam ended up living with V and Kevin when they decided to move. They would be way better parental role models, and it would’ve been nice to see Liam have black siblings and be an older brother for the girls.

mickey deserved to be on this list, he was an amazing person and character. he cared so much for Ian and helped out in the gallagher family. he was, is and always will be a gallagher himself and he's a fanfavorite for a reason

Also Xan, Lips psuedo-Daughter what happened with her? Lip went from being ready to adopt her to just nothing. Also Anne and Carl who were a really great match. I hate that the series just abandons characters

I can't recall if I already commented on this list, but Tami is definitely a contender. I feel like they kept her on the show just to have another female presence after Fiona leaves. Instead of her being portrayed as someone who challenges Lip intellectually, she ultimately amounts to being the woman he knocked up. Sure, we learn things about her, but she didn't quite gel with the cast in the end. She is more of a casualty of the issues COVID had on the writing and filming.

The Original UK version of Shameless progressed into a wider scaled show about more characters in the housing estate its set in, as the Gallagher kids left the series over its seasons. I love both versions, and love the character, plot changes in both. The UK Mandy has a child with Lip in season 2, and thats how we meet her and Mickeys family, the Maguires. Each character often got more plots and equal time onscreen as the Gallaghers, especially Mickey and Mandy. Id have liked them to have had more screentime together in the US one.

I'm stuck on season 5 or 6. Its hard to keep watching. These mistakes are tragic and unenjoyable to watch. Almost like hey, I got my own probs to busy for this. In the beginning I could watch for the loving family dynamics in the midst of chaos. But that is lacking as the season goes on. Everyone is so selfish.

Oh lordy.... here we go with one of these lists again and unfortunately, you picked the wrong subject: 10. Mavar - he definitely deserved better. It's a shame what the writers decided to have Liam do to him because he would've made an excellent role model. Seeing how Liam felt guilt over other things, that entire funeral scam was so out of character for Liam. 10. Sheila - how is she not #1? (We'll get to your #1 later, trust me.) Sheila encompassed everything that was good about somebody. She loved her daughter unconditionally even when she realized that Karen was a piece of trash. She pretty much kept Frank alive for years until she couldn't take any more. She sacrificed her own wants and needs for everybody. She was motherly to Debbie in the earlier seasons. She even tried to adopt a bunch of children that spat all over her and treated her like garbage because she had such a good heart.... not to mention that only God knows where little Hymie would've ended up if she didn't rescue him. A special needs baby would've definitely gotten lost in the system. For Sheila's good heart, what did she get, used over and over by damn near everyone and lost all her possessions when Frank (and Sammi) blew up her house. Yes, she sold it but she lost all her clothes, ID, medication that Frank didn't steal, all her wedding and Karen pictures. The only saving grace was that the writers didn't follow the UK series and have her end up pregnant with Frank's twins. 8. Amanda - are you effing kidding me? AMANDA??? This girl was toxic from the moment she agreed to watch Liam for the first time. She was psycho, controlling, and an all around rich brat. When she realized that Lip didn't want her, she set out to ruin Helene for the sole purpose of getting back at Lip. Speaking of Lip, when the eff didn't he paint over that creepy painting on his dorm wall that looked way too much like Debbie for my taste. That was just nasty! 7. Gus - another one who definitely deserves to be on this list. Let's face it, whether you love or hate Fiona, she was toxic and Gus's only sin was that he fell for the wrong girl. The F Word was definitely merited! 6. Svetlana - are you kidding me again? You're talking about somebody who was brought onto the show because she was paid to "r_ _ e the gay out of Mickey". Call it what you want, but Mickey did not want her and she forced herself on him. Had the genders been reversed, people wouldn't hesitate to call it what it is. Moving forward, she inserted herself into Kev and V's relationship, which was the only healthy relationship on the show, STOLE Kev's bar from him, mocked him, called him stupid, and whined and cried when Kev and V finally got the upper hand on her. The only thing tragic about her story was that she stayed far too long. 5. Trevor - he did deserve better but let's be honest... the Gallavich fans were never going to accept anybody with Ian who wasn't named Mickey. They were doomed from the start and it was never going to work out between the two of them. Trevor was nothing more than a placeholder until Mickey got out of prison and Noel Fisher was able to return to the show. 4. Liam - again, definitely should be on this list. It was obvious that he was the second smartest Gallagher offspring after Lip, but he never got to reach his potential. As a toddler, they did do a great job of taking care of him, but this is a kid that moved out of the house and nobody even realized it. Honestly, it would've been better for his character if he had never moved back to the Gallagher house and just been written off the show. After he came back, he was only an afterthought and spent the rest of his time taking care of Frank. In my post-Shameless mind, I'm envisioning him moving in with Lip, finally getting some guidance (not that Lip is a great role model) and hopefully he can hone his intelligence all the way to a good college and a bright future. 3. Mike - again, this is another casualty of the toxic Fiona. I understand that the arguement could be made that Fiona didn't know what a healthy relationship looked like given her upbringing, but all she had to do was look two doors down at Kev and V, who were for the most part strong as can be. Fiona sleeping with Mike's brother and going on a bender was a stupid storyline that never should've happened and unfortunately, Mike got the short end of the stick. 2. Mandy - oh my dear sweet Mandy... now this poor girl had a tragic story. She was used and abused by her family, just wanted anybody to show her some love, and when she finally got Lip, he did nothing but ignore and dog her for the overly skanky Karen. She was too good to be a Milkovich and I'm glad that she got out of the south side and away from Kenyatta (?). 1. Fiona - are you effing kidding me? Fiona is #1????? Who the heck made this list because Fiona was far from the tragic hero that everybody pretends she was. I could do a top 10 list on why Fiona was the WORST person on Shameless, and that includes Frank! Fiona was the kind of girl that loved to stir up drama for herself just so she could whine and cry about her "woe is me" life. She doesn't deserve to be on this list and she definitely doesn't deserve the top spot! Honorable mentions: - Where the hell are Tommy and Kermit? They were interesting characters that were resorted to nothing more than sitting on barstools at the Alibi Room from sunup to sundown. When they were given something interesting, it was in the form of a drunken encounter in a restroom to Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" and then nothing more. - Again, are you kidding me with Derek? This is a kid who jumped on Debbie the second she offered herself and ghosted her when she got pregnant. He ran off to Florida, blocked her, abandoned his daughter, and then let his family kidnap Franny. Dying in a tank was karmic justice if you ask me... nothing tragic about him! - Sierra definitely deserved better. She was a sweet woman who could've been so much better for Lip than that dumpster fire Tammy. - Tony was debatable and it could be argued that he did get a happy ending. He got the house from Jimmy/Steve, got a girlfriend, apparently sold the house when the market started going up, realized he was gay, and found a boyfriend. Given the premise of the show, I would consider that a win. (If you read this far, thank you and I'm sorry it was so long. I'm still heartbroken over one of my favorite shows ending and the terrible way it went out. I could've written a better ending than what we were given.)

I think an honorable mention is Mickey, because he changes so much for the better and always loves Ian no matter what, but he would constantly get demonized.

Omg so much has happened hahaha even with its ups and downs, I gotta say this is my favorite show ever (maybe guilty pleasure but I don't know lol)

We have this programme in the UK (in fact it's based on that) however I didn't know you had a character named after the Oasis frontman!!!

I feel like they did Karen wrong too. She was a sweet girl in the beginning who patiently cared for her mother, got good grades, cared about her school work and wanted a genuine relationship with Lip. She went to group therapy (first character on the show to do so) and tried to have a healthy relationship, which Lip sabotaged even when she constantly rebuffed his advances. The writers of the show decided to turn her into a sociopath out of nowhere and it seemed a bit misogynistic (to me at least) that the "sluttiest" female character on the show was turned evil and immoral.

Im pretty sure the problem is that almost ALL shameless characters deserve better. The characters always had the ups and down of getting screwed over/ screwing over people when they had it good.(or screwing over themselves) Thats why it did so well, people like that realism and rawness. Its why, although I have loved watching the show through once, It might be one of the most unwatchable reruns. It would be too hard watching these characters go through all that shit all over again.

Fiona will always be the amazing person that took care of her siblings with no help. Her siblings did not deserve her. Though she wasn’t perfect and messed up, she still made it through and finally put herself first. I admire her so much ✨

Personally I think Mickey should be on here, because he had been forced into a marriage, abused by his father and replaced (there’s most probably more but I can’t think rn)
