Imagine doing a wife swap (an already trashy show as is) because you truly believed it might help your marriage, only to come back and realize your husband of a few decades much prefers someone else. Maybe because she didnt actually WANT children but was pressured to have them by her husband because thats what women are supposed to do. She is clearly a career woman, her partner should have realised that when he married her. This idea that "oh it will be different when its your kids" is bollocks. Some people WANT children, great go for it. Some don't, so don't force it. I am husbandless and childless and couldn't be happier, despite being called a monster and a failure my entire life from people who believe females are just walking baby machines!

Its released and their son is inside the balloon as it is floating into the sky. This gets national attention everyone is hoping this child is safe. Soon the balloon lands and turns out there is no kid inside. The kid was in the families home in the attic. later that night the family goes on wolf blitzer where the kids throws his parents under the bus saying they did it for a show. because of that the parents I think both got jail time for the stunt they tried to pull to get a reality show.

There was also one that after the show, one of the sons ended up shooting his mother, brother, and even tried to take himself out when the cops arrived. :/ They were a country (?) music group at one time and to find out that it happened sometime after the swap is super sad. I think the mom in particular was sheltering them and such super bad, and eventually, the son cracked and killed them. I don't remember if he actually died or if he survived, but was then sentenced for the murders. I remember the video explaining the incident saying that the survivors still forgave him for what he did and asked that others would too. Still super sad either way.

The family ate RAW MEAT and aged the meat until it was BLUE. The family had raw meat in mason jars and waited several months until the right amount of "bacteria" had built up on the meat. That "bacteria" was "healthy" to build-up one's immune system. That is the most bizarre episode I had ever seen.

And that's a fast track to food poisoning. If we were evolved to eat raw meat, we wouldn't have to COOK it. Its one thing to order it very rare or rare in restaurants but I wouldn't eat it raw because I know my stomach would reject it.

The one that gets me is the episode with the family on that insane raw food diet. Fruits and veggies I understand. However, I would never go for raw eggs and never go for raw meat of any kind. Someone in that family is going to end up with some very serious health issues as a result of that raw food diet for it is a question of who it will be and when it will happen.

They also didn't use ANY cleaning products and brushed their teeth with clay and butter instead of toothpaste I remember the dad pulling out a jar of 3 month old raw chicken from the fridge and just scarfing it down. And he had a breakdown in the bathroom because his kids got a little sick after eating chicken tenders and fries from a restaurant (you could see the toilet in the background and the toilet water was so dark it looked like someone poured Pepsi into the bowl) I think the clip is on RU-vid it's fucking hilarious

I remember the raw family watching it as a kid. Now as a adult who went to culinary school and learn the deep background of certain things, as well as all types of bacteria that come with eating raw food and unpasteurized milk. These people are lucky to be alive

I had to write a biography about my family, I sent it in, they called us asked us for a tape, we sent it in, they called and said that we've been selected, they came to our house sat down with my mom and step dad to sign the paperwork, my mom was apprehensive but ended up signing. I never watched this show seriously....but I remember one episode with a family of neat freaks and a family with 23 pets; the neat freaks (among other things) drank their coffee through a straw so it didn't stain their teeth, and the pet family had mostly non-conventional pets (gophers, prairie dogs, etc.)

A lot of these storylines are fake. Alisha is sueing TLC right now over her portrayal on the show. The family didnt keep the christmas tree up to give her gifts year round. The poor girl had just lost her grandma and she couldnt bring herself to let anyone take the tree down because Christmas was the last time she got to spend with her grandma. The lies are horrible and they ruined that girls life by making her look like a spoiled air head when she was just a grieving kid trying to survive in a weird ass family.

I honestly didn't know how to react when the Martin family admitted their 11 year old daughter is barely learning how to read. I used to deal with a classmate in 3rd grade who didn't know how to read despite her parents enrolling her in different schools while they moved a lot. She never tried to pay attention in class either because her parents most likely didn't spend time with her at home since they were possibly workaholics. It's sad to look back and realize she must have assumed class time was not meant to be taken seriously because she had gotten used to her parents having frequent job transfers.

Wait wait wait WAAAAAIT A MINUTE... Not a SINGLE mention of the table fights??? Some literally have to call security and/or just let the families go because they refuse to come back and speak in a civil manner! Unless this one was more related to what the families themselves do to live, but still...The table meeting fights are always insane and super unexpected - like one mom literally called the other "white trash" (I wanna say; It was in late season 1 or early - mid season 2; I'm rewatching the show at times after work) and a fight broke out that took 3 hours after for them to come back and speak like people with brains. But another moment to me was when this lady who wanted the family to "look good" (I guess?) sent TWO CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN FREAKING DRESS SHIRTS TO THEIR JOB. Like, lady...CONSTRUCTION WORKERS! They can't work in freaking long sleeved dress shirts, nor is that the UNIFORM. I facepalmed so hard at this. Kinda funny she didn't even acknowledge their ripped off sleeves when they got back. I guess she just wanted them to wear the shirts and not go get fast food. :P

Raw eggs , are you kidding me? I had salmonella and I spent 14 weeks in hospital . I lost so much weight I only weighed 70lbs and I was a 43 year old mother of two. You have to be so careful with these things. 🇬🇧

@@donovangoldsborough2970that was a different show called trading spouses on Fox. Wife swap was on ABC. They were 2 different shows. That lady is actually the only 1 I remember from trading spouses!

Omg! That one was heartbreaking and from what I understand, the parents really did use it on their kids and years later people questioned why the tv production crew and other adults didn't report them???? I think I read somewhere that when the kids grew up they reached out to the woman who had been their "swapped mom" and thanked her for helping them see that their parents were wrong and sticking up for them.

Honestly, in my opinion, bigoted and small-minded behavior like that exhibited by "the Jackster" ("cooking is for women, working is for men" and can't even entertain otherwise) is a sign of low self-esteem and even lower intelligence. I'm all for people having their roles or jobs in a relationship but that is ridiculous, and if I remember correctly when the wife went home to her own husband she was never felt more appreciative of her own husband!

If you ACTUALLY kept up with these people you’d know Alisha’s story was completely fake. Her parents did not believe anything they claimed in the show, and did not give her gifts everyday. The tree was up because her grandma died and they couldn’t bear to do it. They warped her story and faked it and she ended up suing

I like the one where the mother who is Catholic swap with the mother who is Satan and believes in astrology and the Catholic mother was mad she tore up the check that was the best episode
