You did well. Don't Stop Believin' holds some very emotional memories of being in my late teens and my then girlfriend in hospital with Meningitis. So I never get tired of hearing it. Agree on the Rolie-Perry vocal combination. Feeling That Way/Anytime is fantastic imho. Agree on Eclipse, what a fabulous album that is! I can't do a top ten, I love too many tracks.

But I loved that 'Little Girl' so I did what felt like the 'Natural Thing' because if she was 'Feeling That Way' I didn't want to be 'Too Late' to discover if she was 'Dead or Alive'. So cool you mentioned "Message of Love." Powerful song. Proved that the classic Steve Perry/Journey line-up still had it. I saw Journey (pre-Perry) when they opened for ELP in 1977. Hate to say it but they weren't memorable for me (was too anxious to see ELP) but some of my friends told me before the concert that Journey was a rocking band. I'd never heard of them then. I REALLY started hearing about them after Steve Perry joined.

I saw Perry make his debut at the Old Waldorf in S.F. He was shaking in his boots. I was sitting in front of Schon of course. Saw early Journey with Trower on his Bridge of Sighs tour. My Winterland (S.F.) concert christening. I was 16. Schon played with a ferocity and of course by that show we were starting to play Trower tunes. Serious influences for a very young mind bent on becoming the next guitar hero.

I ve checked out some great tunes you mentioned like the great proto NWoBHM or Riot style Hustler. A review of Black Oak Arkansas would be Aldo a great one I think..

Pete, a great selection for a top ten, a very difficult choice for sure. Love Steve P, probably the best vocalist in this genre. But also love the 2 Arnold albums too, and a nod to Steve Augeri, although preferred him in his initial band 'Tall Stories'...BTW got to mention, Jorn Lande, who did an absolute killer version of 'Edge of the Blade'...Def worth a listen....

I think Next will always be the highlight for me, I like that nerve and intensity (not to mention great playing) and I'm not a big fan of the more suggary stuff. But it's like you said - different strokes.... A great band at any rate! I'll have to dig in your archive to see if you did one on Kansas, but boy... that would be a great one ;-)

One Journey song that seems to be overlooked is the title track from Look into the Future. A beautiful fusion of progressive music and the powerful rock ballad that Journey is known for
I first discovered Journey when the Look Into the Future LP was released in '76. Loved it (especially the 3 songs on Side 2) and immediately went and bought the first album - a year later Next came out and it was like a hat trick of fantastic rock fusion albums. Then....Infinity was released a year later and we all said, Who the hell is this 5th guy????? LOL
It's not a surprise to me because that's also my favourite track. Saw Journey with Pat Travers supporting(I don't know about that, because he was just as good) in 1979. One of the best gigs ever.
