I was going to bust out a quick list, and realized my preferences were changing even as I was thinking of songs. Too many great ones for me to pick I guess...
My favorites are 1. Tomorrow Never Knows 2. Golden slumbers/carry that weight/the end 3. Norwegian wood 4. Rain 5. A day in the life 6. Hey Jude 7. Happiness is warm gun 8. While my guitar gently weeps 9. For no one 10. Across the universe
Here is my top ten: 10: Hey Bulldog, 9: Dear Prudence, 8: Penny Lane, 7: Norwegian Wood, 6: Sexy Sadie, 5: She Said , 4: A Day In The Life, 3 Here Comes The Sun, 2: I'm The Walrus, 1:She's So Heavy.
Fun Fact: "Golden Slumbers" is based on the poem "Cradle Song", a lullaby by the dramatist Thomas Dekker. The poem appears in Dekker's 1603 comedy Patient Grissel. ... McCartney uses the first stanza of the original poem, with minor word changes, adding to it a single lyric line repeated with minor variation.
I love The Beatles. 1 A Day in the life 2 Hey Jude (My earliest memory of listening to a song on the radio or TV) 3 While my guitar gently weeps 4 Something 5 She Loves You 6 Strawberry Fields Forever 7 Penny Lane 8 Here Comes The Sun 9 Abbey Road medley...... 10 Let It Be Bubbling under: Help, Don't Let Me Down, Come Together, I Should Have Known Better, Eleanor Rigby, Ticket to Ride
@@markandersen793 'In My Life' is gorgeous. British comedy show 'Not The Nine O'Clock News' used it as their outro music on the show broadcast after Lennon was shot. Brought tears to my eyes and I'm not a big Beatles or Lennon fan.
For me, the single most underrated Beatles song is 'Rain'. Fantastic song all around. Great drums and bass, great vocals, and I love the philosophical lyrics!
Gonna go with: 1. Strawberry Fields Forever 2. Here Comes The Sun 3. Help 4. In My Life 5. If I Needed Someone 6. You Never Give Me Your Money 7. I'm Looking Through You 8. Let It Be 9. For No One 10. Martha My Dear
How nobody ever seems to love "You never give me your money" as a favorite is absolutely beyond me. It set the stage for what rock/pop in the 70's and beyond would become. Next to that for me is "Hey Bulldog".
interesting points you never give me your money wasn’t developed into a full song so perhaps people don’t even recognize it as a song but your insights are great ones
Thank you for doing this! Great list! I love that you included "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"! A lot of people don't realize how awesome that track is. I would say that it's underrated and/or underappreciated. Thanks again for doing a Beatles List! You're the best! P.S. My all-time favorite Beatles song is "Tomorrow Never Knows".
Legendary band, for many reasons. Here’s my top ten: 1. Let It Be (right with ya Pete. Terrific song, and I love that guitar solo) 2. She Said She Said 3. Tomorrow Never Knows 4. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) 5. I’ve Got A Feeling 6. Love You To (massively underrated. Indian psych!) 7. I Am The Walrus 8. Getting Better 9. Nowhere Man 10a. Here Comes The Sun 10b. I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
What a tough chore: 1. In My Life 2. Penny Lane 3. Something 4. For No One 5. Taxman 6. Nowhere Man 7. If I Fell 8. I'll Be Back 9. Your Mother Should Know 10. Michelle
This is a fantastic list and I would include most of these in my top 10. I totally agree with this list and although I love this channel don’t agree with some of his choices. Kudos
Why In My Life over and over It’s a decent song but what makes it so special? I think it’s a tribute to Stu and that’s noteworthy but I don’t see anything particularly special about it
My Top Ten Beatles songs: 1) *While My Guitar Gently Weeps* 2) *And I Love Her* 3) *A Day in the Life* 4) *Helter Skelter* 5) *The Long and Winding Road* 6) *Michelle* 7) *Norwegian Wood (This Bird has Flown)* 8) *Revolution Number 9* 9) *Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand / Sie Liebt Dich* (I Want to Hold Your Hand & She Loves You recorded & sung in German by The Beatles) 10) *Solo songs from The Beatles* A) Ringo Starr - *Photograph* B) Paul McCartney (Wings) - *Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five* C) George Harrison - *What is Life* D) John Lennon - *Instant Karma* E) Billy Preston (the Fifth Beatle) - *My Country, Tis of Thee* from the 1977's *Twilight's Last Gleaming* film (first time I heard the song but was on Preston's 1971 *I Wrote A Simple Song* album).
@@millfred123 Agreed, fucking stupid people giving credit to a dude just for being Lennon's live keyboard player. 5th Beatle should be George Martin for composition, Brian Epstein for marketing/mgmt, or Geoff Emerick for engineering. No other name is ever worth bringing up or even mentioning.
An amazing guitar track for me is "And Your Bird Can Sing", twin lead motifs that pre date Revolver, released stateside on Yesterday and Today, pre date Allman Brothers and Thin Lizzy twin lead themes, also "Rain" is up there for the guitar work pre Revolver by a few months. They were putting out 3 or 4 albums a year until Sargeant Pepper. Rubber Soul was actually the big change in late 65, heavily influenced by Bob Dylan and wanting to do all originals, Norwegian Wood was on that one.
@@lucasbeer353 good point but we didn't know any of that as Americans till way. I have a hard time with the CD UK editions because they don't match my childhood memories, so much so that when they released the limited edition Yesterday and Today as a mini album cover CD, I bought it because that's the sequence I grew up with, that's where my memories are.
That may be true but that's reviewing the process 20-50 years later. Most albums were a collection of singles or backing tracks etc till Rubber Soul. Yesterday and Today was not thought of as an album theme but a collection of singles like their early work.
Lucas , the weird thing was Paul was really trying to write like a Stax recording on that. I think it was Rubber Soul that was supposed to be recorded in Memphis but word got out and they cancelled. Again, it was the songs on Yesterday & Today whether it was for US only that I just love that album.
Paperback writer was always my favourite - how heavy was that riff, for the time. One of the only Beatles tunes I can hear now and not be disinterested. Familiarity has dulled their impact somewhat. Just a bi-product of nearly 60 years worth of being overplayed I guess.
1: I’m only sleeping 2: A day in the life 3: Tomorrow never knows 4: You never give me your money 5: Happiness is a warm gun 6: I am the walrus 7: Taxman 8: Dig a pony 9: No reply 10: Come together I probably forgot a million.
My 22 fave BEETLES tunes (fit on one CD-R): 22. In My Life 21. We Can Work It Out 20. Paperback Writer 19. Rain 18. Eleanor Rigby 17. Hello Goodbye 16. Get Back 15. Penny Lane 14. Strawberry Fields Forever 13. The Fool On The Hill 12. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds 11. Dear Prudence 10. Tomorrow Never Knows 9. Across The Universe 8. Here Comes The Sun 7. Something 6. The Long And Winding Road 5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 4. I Am The Walrus 3. A Day In The Life 2. Let It Be 1. Hey Jude
I rarely listen to the Beatles anymore. I've just heard all their songs thousands of times. But only a fool wouldn't give them their due. Just fantastic musicians that all meshed perfectly at a level nobody could touch. And nobody ever has.
Just wondering by saying that you listen to all the Beatles songs, do you also mean the pre 1966 period? The early songs that are unfortunately not played enough!
I listen to them constantly. The beauty is you can switch time periods when you listen to one of them too much. Their early stuff is really underrated! But headphones are a MUST
@@nicholasmaxwell9899 you could make a top 10 of their pre 1966 songs and still leave out so many classic numbers. I sometimes wonder why those songs are not played more, love to hear a taste of honey or do you want to know a secret or you can't do that ect more often.
@@randyacuna3248 Exactly! People just regard it as "bubblegum pop". Their popularity hurts them in that way, because many people regard them as a boy band. But for those who actually LISTEN, even their early stuff is just full of incredible craftmanship, songwriting, and melodies. Their vocals were ALWAYS fantastic too. Some of my favorite earlier songs include every little thing, I'll be back, things we said today, I saw her standing there, No reply, I'll follow the sun, what you're doing, we can work it out, it's only love, and obviously MANY more.
die also I felt that George has a beautiful voice and do you want to know a secret proves this point, it's too bad he was not allowed or for whatever reason did not sing more early Beatle songs.
Great list Pete. I would choose many of the same. My list is very long being a huge Beatles fan. I grew up with it all as it came out. My sister was a teenager then and saw the Beatles in 1965 at Met Stadium in MN. I was 5 then and didn't get to go! To this day I love the Beatles. Perhaps more than ever. My favorite song of theirs is the same as yours. Let It Be. Gets me every time too. Beautiful and perfect song. Congrats on 10,000!! And 5 years!!!
Generally good choices. Glad that you at least mentioned In my life and Here comes the sun. Another songs that I really like, musically and lyrically, is I'm looking through you and You've got to hide your love away.
What a great list! Mine is 1. A Day In The Life 2. Let It Be 3. Hey Jude 4. Strawberry Fields Forever 5. Penny Lane 6. The Walrus 7. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band 8. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds 9. Eleanor Rigby 10. Something honorable mentions: While My Guitar Gently Weeps Michelle Getting Better Yesterday Help Hello, Goodbye Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End Across The Universe The Long And Winding Road Revolution Here Comes The Sun I've Got A Feeling Helter Skelter
1. Tomorrow Never Knows 2. If I Needed Someone 3. A Day in the Life 4.She Said She Said 5. Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight/The End 6. Rain 7. Yer Blues 8. You Never Give Me your Money 9. I've got a Feeling 10. Everybody's got Something to Hide ...
Thanks for finally putting out this list to please all of us Beatles fans. Compiling a top 10 for this band is almost an impossible task but my choices as of today are: 10. Help! 9. Paperback Writer 8. She’s Leaving Home 7. In My Life 6. Here Comes The Sun 5. Revolution 4. Lady Madonna 3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 2. A Day In The Life 1. Hey Jude
My top 10 10) I Am the Walrus 9 ) Dont Bother Me 8) In My Life 7) The Night Before 6) Girl 5) I Want you ( She's so heavy) 4) From Me To you 3) Paperback Writer 2) I Want to hold your hand 1) Please Please me
My favorites: 10. It's Only Love 9. Helter Skelter 8. I Want to Hold Your Hand 7. Sexy Sadie 6. She Loves You 5. Don't Let Me Down 4. Here Comes The Sun 3. Nowhere Man 2. Hello Goodbye Honorable Mentions (at least 1 per album): Please Please Me, Love Me Do, It Won't Be Long, Not a Second Time, What You're Doing, I Should Have Known Better, I'll Be Back, Help!, Yesterday, Run for Your Life, Eleanor Rigby, Good Day Sunshine, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, I Am The Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane, Dear Prudence, Birthday, Come Together, Octopus's Garden, Two of Us, Let it Be... I could go on. I'm a big Beatard. :P 1. Rain
It's hard to make a top 10 Beatles song list. But I will ad 4 songs that I really love, and that is: In My Life Here There And Everywhere The Long And Winding Road Across The Universe I totally agree with you on your comment of Paul McCartney. I really love his past Beatles work.
#10. Paperback Writer #9. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away #8. Rocky Racoon #7. Hey Bulldog #6. Day Tripper #5. The Fool On the Hill #4. I've Just Seen A Face #3. She's Leaving Home #2. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) #1. If I Needed Someone
Pete, Great and varied list. Yesterday is near the top for me. Funny when I mention that song during a Beatles conversation, people always forget that amazing classic tune. great channel and thanks!
Brilliant...spent alot of time with family in Liverpool as a kid....love The Beatles...fav track has gotta be.....here comes the sun....it just takes me sonewhere good...love that song and Blackbird....short and sweet but amazing little tune. 😁👍
"I am the walrus" has always been my favorite. Love their psychedelic phase - "A day in the life", "Lucy in the sky", "Strawberry fields" and "Being for the benefit of mr. Kite" would also make my personal top 10 list.
Was watching your 10k sub special (congrats, by the way) and I got a notification for this! Can't think of a top 10, as I haven't listened to them in a while, but this might get me going again. I have a lot of nostalgia for records like Please Please Me, Hard Day's Night, and Rubber Soul (which I listened to on the way to school for years), but those of course don't quite reach the heights of their later records. I'll toss out a few of my favorites, though - She Said She Said Tomorrow Never Knows Nowhere Man Norwegian Wood Happiness is a Warm Gun
Pete, thanks for doing all that you do! I'm really enjoying your Top 10 lists. I'm an old prog rock guy too. I plan to take the time to comment on your other prog band lists when I'm able. You and I are in pretty close alignment on many of your lists. The Beatles were one of the most influential bands of my youth. Here's my Top 10 favorite Beatles songs with an additional 10 Honorable mentions: 1) "A Day in the Life" 2) "The Fool on the Hill" 3) "Strawberry Fields Forever" 4) "Nowhere Man" 5) "Eleanor Rigby" 6) "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" 7) "Across the Universe" (this song has had an even more special meaning to my wife and I after John Lennon passed. "Nothing's gonna change my world".) 8) "Let It Be" 9) "In My Life" 10) "Golden Slumbers", "Carry That Weight" & "The End" Honorable Mentions: "If I Fell" "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" "Tomorrow Never Knows" "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" "She's Leaving Home" "I Am the Walrus" "It's All Too Much" "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" "Something"
Gimme tomorrow never knows, a day in the life, and i want you (she’s so heavy) for a top three. Also diggin’ on revolution, while my guitar gently weeps, love to you, strawberry fields forever, i am the walrus, rain, and paperback writer
I can't realy argue with your top 10 here, I love the Beatles, they were my 1st fav band and Geoge was my 1 st guitar god! God bless him for being here!
I have a tie for #10 because I couldn't cut ant of these tracks from the list. These are my essentials tracks from the Fab Four. Like Pete, there are literally hundreds of honorable mentions for me! 10 For No One- tied w/- Girl 09 Run For Your Life 08 In My Life 07 Nowhere Man 06 A Day In The Life 05 Come Together 04 Yer Blues 03 Hey Bulldog 02 Eleanor Rigby 01 Glass Onion
GREAT list, Pete. I so appreciate that you've finally done this. If I were to do a Beatles Top 10, it would be very similar to yours. Oh, what the hell, I'll do it now. Very quickly, though, as this can take a long time if I'm not careful. So... *My Beatles Top 10* 1) Hey Jude 2) Let It Be 3) Magical Mystery Tour 4) Golden Slumbers Medley 5) A Day In The Life 6) Revolution (Hard Rock single version) 7) Got To Get You Into My Life 8) Helter Skelter 9) Strawberry Fields 10) Because *Honorable Mentions* (Too many to list, but like you, I'll shorten mine to only my favorites): Getting Better, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (just missed my Top 10), Help, The Long & Winding Road, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Hello Goodbye, Here Comes The Sun, and probably several others, but those are what come to mind right now. Like you, I much prefer their later period; always have. I've been away from your show a while, but I'm still subbed and don't seek to change that. You're a good guy, and thank you for still doing your shows. 👍
To me only a few songs reach the ultimate plateau of remembering where I was when I first heard them. One in particular was I Want You/She's so heavy.--1969. driving down Route 7 on my way into Alexandria, VA. The red light...I can still reflect back on that first time...the afternoon sun shining brightly like it was a brand new day...Such an awesome tune!
It's hard to believe now, but when I was at school in the early 70s it was really uncool to like the Beatles. But I wasn't one of the cool kids so I bought Abbey Road anyway. My Top Ten Eleanor Rigby. The Long and Winding Road. Paperback Writer. Come Together. I Want You (She's So Heavy) Get Back I Am The Walrus Here Comes The Sun. Ticket to Ride. Drive My Car. Some that just missed out A Day in the Life . Penny Lane. Strawberry Fields. Norwegian Wood. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Hey Bulldog. Back in the USSR.
My list: 1. A day in the life 2. Dear prudence 3. I want you (she's so heavy) 4. Strawberry fields forever 5. You never give me your money 6. The long and winding road 7. While my guitar gently weeps 8. Nowhere man 9. She's leaving home 10. Tomorrow never knows
Thanks be for posting this stuff I love them all the Beatles open the floodgates of rock and roll I know the 50s did it but there were like a big-time so is our Rivals The Rolling Stones, then kicked the British Invasion and so forth
My favourite Beatles song will always be 'I Me Mine', George had a truly beautiful way with words and his voice is so soothing. Can't possibly rank my other favourites!
Thanks Pete for doing the Beatles! I’m a prog guy but their my favorite band! Thanks Pete. By the way I’ll be at the Kansas show and looking forward to saying hello! 😊
Nice selection Pete, it's kinda like choosing the top 10 brightest stars in the night sky. Happy to see 'Hello, Goodbye' in there .. I would have squeezed 'Baby You're a Rich Man' in there too!
I had to have three beers before I watched this, and you did a pretty good job Pete. Only thing I would say about the Golden Slumbers medley is that to me, the entire medley starts with "Because", which is the second track on side two. It's as if they said, "here's every last goddam thing we got ... enjoy and farewell"
no order: here comes the sun, ob-la-di ob-la-da, i'm down, we can work it out, all my loving, good day sunshine, eleanor rigby, revolution, while my guitar gently weeps, sun king
There are too many great Beatles songs for me to just choose ten. So here are ten of my favorite lesser known Beatles songs: 1. It Won't Be Long 2. Any Time At All 3. I Don't Want to Spoil the Party 4.Tell Me What You See 5. The Word 6. I Want To Tell You 7. Happiness is a Warm Gun 8. Savoy Truffle 9. Only a Northern Song 10. I've Got a Feeling

This was a very good subject matter and I would bet most would agree so on behalf of most(I hope) thanks pete.
You can't go wrong with any song from The Beatles! I am going to post my top 10 BEFORE watching your top 10. Fun to see if we have any crossover.... 10. Now I go and hear what you have to say.
Greeeat list. Thank you. I love also a lot Day tripper, I feel fine, I've got a feeling, In my life, Girl, Nowhere man, And your bird can sing, Across the universe, What you're doing, I'm the walrus, I'll be back, Things we said today, Ticket to ride, I've just seen a face, Come together... and so on and on and on.
Top 15: Happiness Is a Warm Gun It's All Too Much Only a Northern Song Golden Slumbers Medley Blackbird Here Comes the Sun Nowhere Man Please Please Me Tell Me Why Here, There and Everywhere I've Just Seen a Face It Won't Be Long All You Need Is Love Mother Nature's Son Because
Impossible task Pete. I couldn't list a top 50 even. Love most of your tastes but as a 9yr old in '63,i cannot describe the impact they had, certainly in Britain and The Beatles will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. How about the other band, who were in competition with the Fabs.....The Stones. Maybe you already did that and i missed it.
I think we share only 1-2 favorite Beatles songs! Glad to see the diversity of opinion and that you gave an honest opinion. They were brilliantly-marketed and I think our love of their personalities may somewhat prejudice us in favor of their music. “John Paul George and Ringo” is a mantra while one has to think a bit before saying “Roger David Rick and Nick.”
My Top 10 (nearly impossible to do only ten btw)... 1. Strawberry Fields Forever 2. Norwegian Wood 3. In My Life 4. If I Needed Someone 5. I Am The Walrus 6.,Tomorrow Never Knows 7. Penny Lane 8. A Day In The Life 9. Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite 10. The Word ... and about 80 more! Tough one, Pete!
1. Abbey Road Medley - other than symphonies by Bach, Beethoven, or Mozart, maybe the greatest 16 minutes of music ever composed. 2. Come Together 3. Penny Lane - listened to this one over and over again when I was about 10 years old 4. Strawberry Fields Forever 5. Here Comes the Sun 6. I Saw Her Standing There - my favorite of the early stuff, much better in my opinion than I Want To Hold Your Hand or Can't Buy Me Love or Love Me Do 7. A Day in the Life 8. The Long and Winding Road - I tried to avoid the slow stuff like Yesterday and Something and Let It Be but I find this one irresistible. 9. Across the Universe 10. Something - again, even though it's a slow one, too great to ignore
If I has a choice between a day in the life and a taste of honey, I would go with honey because simply it is not played enough and that is the only reason. People need to see 8 days a week to see the impact of the early classics.
My top 10 songs by The Beatles 10. I Want You (She's So Heavy) 9. Come Together 8. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds 7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 6. Within You Without You 5. Strawberry Fields Forever 4. I Am The Walrus 3. The Ballad Of John&Yoko 2. Maxwell's Silver Hammer 1. A Day In The Life
tough to choose. Hey Jude is my favorite Beatle song and the song that got me into then in the 1st place. Gosh...Yesterday, Day In A Life, Strawberry Fields, All My Loving, If I Fell, I Want You (She's So Heavy). 3 more.: Ticket To Ride, I Will, Lady Madonna...today. So many great Beatles songs.
Extraordinary. I could never pick my 10 favorite Beatles songs, however I Am The Walrus would have to be in there. Agree with many of your choices including Let It Be as number 1.
I appreciate your personal and candid assessment from this impossibly fantastic catalog, Pete. For me, the intro to Lovely Rita is the most delightful and transforming piece of popular music I've come across. To me, it's quintessentially Paul and Sixties. Also, Pete, wondering what you think of the Love remix album... Cheers and thanks
Here are my top ten.... 1. While My Guitar Gently Weeps, 2. Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heartsclub Band, 3. Helter Skelter, 4. I Say Hello, You Say Goodbye, 5. Norwegian Wood, 6. I Want To Hold Your Hand, 6. Golden Slumbers.....,7. Yesterday, 8. A Day in the Life, 9. Taxman, 10. Bungalow Bill. These songs to me were my favorites among the countless songs they have
My top ten favorites. And these are actually my favorite songs. But these are ten of my faves. 10. All My Loving 09. Baby You’re A Rich Man 08. Every Little Thing 07. Fixing A Hole 06. Love Me Do 05. Please Please Me 04. Hello Goodbye 03. Tell Me What You See 02. And I Love Her 01. Help!
My Top 10 Beatles songs, although the positions may change over time 😆 1) Don't Let Me Down 2) Here Comes The Sun 3) Something 4) I Want You (She's So Heavy) 5) While My Guitar Gently Weeps 6) The Long And Winding Road 7) Golden Slumbers E.P. 8) Oh! Darling 9) I Saw Her Standing There 10) Come Together Honourable Mentions - Twist And Shout, Long Tall Sally, Helter Skelter, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), Revolution.
1. Strawberry Fields Forever 2. While my guitar gently weeps 3. U never give me your money 4. I am the walrus 5. Here comes the sun 6. Penny Lane 7. Sexy Sadie 8. Hey Jude 9. Eleanor Rigby 10. Hey Bulldog That is a tough list to make. Might be a lot different a different day. I left off many songs that were favorites like yesterday because their impact has gone down from years of over exposure.
My top 10 faves.. 1. Yesterday 2. Penny Lane 3. Strawberry Fields 4. Let It Be 5. Shes Leaving Home 6. Paperback Writer 7. A Day in the Life 8. From me to you 9. Blackbird 10. Lucy in the Sky......
Mais non! Ce n'est pas possible de prendre seulement 10 morceaux des Beatles.Ils ont écrits tellement de morceaux extraordinaires. The Beatles est le meilleur groupe de tous les temps.
My Top 10: 1 - I Am The Walrus 2 - Michelle 3 - Something 4 - I Want You (She's So Heavy) 5 - Oh Darling 6 - I'm So Tired 7 - While My Guitar Gently Weeps 8 - Yesterday 9 - Hey Jude 10 - Blackbird (honorable mentions: Dear Prudence, Help!, Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End, Girl, Don't Let Me Down, You're Gonna Lose That Girl, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Strawberry Fields Forever, Ticket To Ride. Fun fact, Ticket To Ride was the first Beatles song to be longer than 3 minutes long. A lot of early Beatles tracks are very short, so Ticket To Ride was the first one to break the mould and break the 3-minute barrier).
Hey Richard, I’ll be happy to mention “ Any Bird. “ It’s one of several that makes “ Revolver “ a very special album. Would likely insert that one in my top 10 favs.
This is impossible because the Beatles are my top three favorite bands. The early stuff is infectiously catchy , hook laden and was ground breaking for the time. It's the epitome of what pop music should be. Their middle period was groundbreaking while being popular, experimental , yet connecting with a wide audience. It was sophisticated while maintaining commerciality. Sgt Pepper single handedly took rock music from folk art to high art. Brilliant. And their final period was simply masterful in its execution. Genius playing, virtuostic singing, awesome arrangements. They started a sound that everyone followed and then they once again topped it. They're in a league of their own. 10 favorites? Damn, pick ten at random and they'll probably be better than any song NOT by the Beatles. They are simply that good.
Grew up with The Beatles Pete, I would find it too difficult to pick a top ten. I would put Revolution and Tomorrow Never Knows and how about a deep album cut, It's All Too Much from Yellow Submarine. I have all their albums Abbey Road my favourite.
Can’t say I was expecting this video today. Or ever. This isn’t exactly a Beatles channel, but I’m not opposed to it. As for my top 10, I don’t have a definitive list, but I know my top 3. 3. Something 2. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 1. Taxman If it’s not clear already, I love George’s songs. I also love the other Beatles’ songs, I just can’t rank them
