A lot of these squatters are squatting relatively narrow from what we used to see just a couple years back. Impresses me to see the evolution of powerlifting over just recent years technique wise overall.

evolution or degradation, or evolution of degradation?

@@ecnalab9095absolute nonsense. Why would it be bad to squat narrow? Youre critisizing for the sake of critisizing. If it was wide stance,you would still say the same bullsht

Wide stance is often a vestige of old powerlifting/equipped thinking. A lot of people don’t have the hips for it.

Yeah, as well as the hyper arched back and evolution of sumo. Excited to see how powerlifting will develop new ways to avoid building strength in the future

@@Shakenbake-in9ux Are you saying that a non wide stance is somehow similar to reducing rom like in arching and sumo? It is quite the opposite if so. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your comment.

You forgot Bonica's 289 kilogram squat. It's the heaviest female raw squat in powerlifting.

Easy to overlook as it didn't count as she failed to register a total, but yeah, probably should be up there. And her name is now forever Bomb-ica thanks to Nick Manders.

@@Jeneric81 i dont support the judge/jury's decision. Her lockout has been like that for many years so why all of the sudden its a no lift?
@Jeneric81
@Jeneric81 11 месяцев назад
@@zf621 One, I don't think that's true, weighed in 9 kg heavier than last Worlds, locking out a sumo becomes increasingly wonkier with a growing girth. So her lockout wasn't the same as it has been "for many years" Two, the calls on the lockout were 100% correct, even if she had gotten whites on equally bad lockouts in the past shouldn't give her a free pass to never have to do it correctly for the rest of eternity. Three, she got reds and overturned lifts for the same reason at World Games and IPF Worlds 2022.

@@boomchacalaca9589 theres quite a few squatting over 300kgs at like 70s or 80s. esp 83s? don't watch weighntlfting ALOT ALOT. but iirc alot of team china has shown those numbers but these r often below parallel. they rarely max out squats ofc but iirc i've seen lasha do 3x325kg beltless for sets of 3 and it moved super quickly. they generally train squats to like rpe 6-7 and from the speed/effort it looked like it. ofc 1rm calculators r rubbish but in hypotheticals its best we can do i suppose. that's an about 400kg squat beltless without focusing on it *edit did a bit of research. shi zhiyong squatted 270kg in 2012 and when tehy dont train squats while competing in the 66kg class. i havent found any recent squats but his weightlifting total went up ~40kgs in that time and hes moved up to teh 73kg weight class (weightlifting classes change sumtimes and 66kg no longer exist) thats a specific example but theres alot of lifters in the higher weight classes. sum of which doesnt exist anymore but from memory. tian tao 89kg, luxiaojun 81kg, li dayin 89kg (former 81). tian tao squatted atleast 320. i mean its not higher than plifting records but its people who usually dont even train the lift since its not sport specific and usually not limiting factor

Noobie question: Why do most elite powerlifters prefer low bar squat over high bar?
@powerlifting-world
@powerlifting-world 8 месяцев назад
Powerlifters often prefer low bar squats over high bar because the low bar position allows for a more advantageous leverage and engages the posterior chain, which can lead to greater lifting performance, particularly in the context of powerlifting competitions 🙌🏼

Some of those lifters were folded like a piece of paper. They’re getting their back training in while squatting.

That second squat in the video might be the ugliest I've ever seen. Good job on completing it though.
