Here are my top ten favorite Star Wars 6" Black Series figures for 2023! My favorite star wars film is Return of the Jedi, so this was a great year for me celebrating its 40th anniversary. Let me know what some of your favorite figures were this year in the comments!

Excellent list, David! The Black Series community seems at times to be dominated by prequel era/Clone Wars fans so it's awesome to see the OT love. That R2-D2 was so desparately needed. Love that sculpt! -Justin

Yeah, she almost made my list. I just haven't found myself going back to her much since I put her on the shelf though. I imagine she is way high on the list for clone wars fans.

I never tire of looking at your dios D. Love that you've included 40th anniversary cards! Finally, a Gentleman of taste!! 😅 I spent the tail-end of '23 getting my 40th anniversary cards for all 3 of the Oridge-Tridge films. I still need Bespin Han to complete those and kenner 50th Obi to complete the 6 x 50th OT cards. I got Kenner Boba foil as well, so once I've got Han and Obi, that leaves the most horribly expensive, single OT release figure of foil X-Wing Luke, which is going for around £200 on ebay...😢 I've yet to come anywhere near justifying buying this. Excellent list you compiled as well. Refreshing to not see 'Mal's Goose' and 'Dalek' stinking up the top 3 picks! 😅 I've got them, but have no connection to the characters and they look more like Classifieds than sw figures. Doc, Sabine and R2 are superb figures. Hope you and the family had a lovely Xmas and New year's my Man.

Thanks David! I really love the carded figures they've done too. Just so hard to find room to display them as you well know. I love my foil card xwing luke. I had to pay around $170 I think when I bought it. At the time, that was way more than any other figure I had bought for sure. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the fam as well :)

@@RedWagonDioramas You have the Luke foily-foil, graily-grail!!! Noooooo!! 170 is a killer for sure. I've turned into the green eyed jealousy monster!! My most expensive bs purchase was the printed Endor bunker for £210, which wasn't even technically bs!! Then we have 160 for the Boba/Han Carbo sdcc 2-pac, 140 import price Endor set, 110 Dewback and a fair amount of creatures/vehicles/figures for around the 100 mark. However, I've never come close to paying 200+ for a carded single figure. I fear I may die "X-Wing Foil Variant Carded Luke" poor!!

@davidedge2828 well I don’t have the Boba/ Han set, so you’ve got one up on me there. Just sell some of the other figures that don’t do it for you, And buy that Luke!

@@RedWagonDioramas My Hiss Tank's going nowhere!! Carded Co-Co is fully protected in cheap, foldable acrylic as well! I shall have him buried with me, in a locked coffin... With my Boba Fett figures as well!! Clasped in my cold, dead hands!! 😃 😀 😄

Good list and parallels mine in many ways. I’m about your age and so I tend to gravitate towards OT figs and I don’t really get into video game characters much. I also had the Endor trooper up in my top 3 and I feel like almost more than any other figure released this year, that it represents the aesthetic quality the black series once had- good detailed paint apps, high piece count, etc. so I also agree with you that I just want the line to be good quality, and like you, I tend to gravitate towards figures that are classified as “deluxe”. I don’t care what they are called, I just want the quality. If that means I have to pay $30-40 to get more detailed paint, and a higher piece count, I will gladly do it. I honestly think that is where the line should go - raise the price point slightly and get the paint and piece count up just a little bit. I think there is room there to elevate and yet not get all the way up to the shf/mafex price point. There have been several instances where tvc has outshined TBS in terms of piece count and soft goods, etc. that just shouldn’t happen.

Great comments man, totally agree on the TVC comparison. I really want changeable hands for different poses. Most black series come with sofew accessories which is just so strange to me given that it is supposed to be the premium collector line for Hasbro.

@@RedWagonDioramas my fear is that while the line was originally conceived as a premium line when it was introduced in 2013, the industry has changed since then. The 6” scale has now supplanted the 3.75” scale as the main action figure scale across most lines. That means it is basically now the line that parents are buying for their kids. That means Hasbro is going to tailor the line accordingly. I don’t know if they still view it as a premium line. The smaller figures are more appreciated by guys our age who grew up with them. Today’s kids don’t want them. So my fear is that Hasbro is going to start to view tvc as the collector line. The production technology now allows them to get so much detail into that scale that they didn’t used to be able to. I hope this is not where things are heading.

@@RedWagonDioramas I am definitely starting to be swayed more and more towards imports and their higher piece counts and better paint apps. I picked up the Boba with throne and the Obiwan series Vader this year from shf and they are easily my top two favorite Star Wars figures of the year. Just gorgeous releases with so many options for display due to everything they come with.
