I’d personally rate Cinderace higher for two reasons: Firstly, it’s physical movepool arguably has a better range of coverage. Altgough all 3 seem lack some coverage moves for their higher attack stat. Cinderace and Meowscarada could use more physical moves and Greninja more special. Secondly, Cinderace has an advantage starting as a mono fire type. Since Protein seems to activate from using either a dark move or a water/grass move to make Meowscarada and Greninja a monotype, while Pyro Ball doesn’t proc Libero because Cinderace is already a mono fire type.

@@Shay96 I wholeheartedly agree with you. If we go based off design Greninja is cooler, but I prefer to use Cinderace. Even more than the other two.

Infernape just need to have Cinderace stats to be better then most if not all Fire starters. Quaquaval and feraligtr are extremely underrated.

Fire and ice sounds like a cool concept but a defensive grass/steel starter would need to be absolutely broken in order to not immedietely stand in ferothorn's shadow from day one. As for a balanced water ground, we also had that before with swampert, which is also pretty beloved. So that starter would also already start off by competing for a niche that has long been filled.

I had the same idea once, well for the Grass/Steel Starter anyway. And the archetypes as well for the Fire and Water Types. • Grass/Steel being super bulky and super slow. Attacking stats would be the same but average at best so it could set up or be great support. Over all the stats I came up with were very symmetrical, I think it was: 80 in each attacking stat, 120 in each defense stat, 100 in HP, and 30 in speed. Reason I made it super slow was so that it would be insane in trick room, with either support or straight up setting up and then sweeping. • I don't have much memory of the typings and exact stats I gave to the other Starters, but for Fire I wanted to make it a Fast Special Attacking snake Pokémon because I thought it would be cool if it shot something out from the tail like Rattle Snake Jake from Rango did or like Shin Godzilla. Honestly I might've also thought to give this thing the Steel type because of the whole Rattle Snake Jake thing but if we ignored the whole snake thing I also thought about Fire/Fairy. • As for the Water Starter I also wanted either a "balanced like all things should be" starter OR a somewhat Bulky and Physically offensive Water Starter since we haven't gotten one in a while. Quaquaval is a combination of those two ideas, but I think it falls flat being all physically offensive and then mediocrely balanced with every other stat. I also wanted a Water/Fighting Starter so yea I got what I wanted, but all the ideas came together not in the way I wanted at all (not design wise, stat wise). • I came up with those typing since they kind of make their own triangle of Super Effective damage but not only do both Water and Fire resist Steel, Fire also resists Fairy so a complete reversing Type Triangle just couldn't work properly.

I would really like to see them change up starters an have one that is dragon / fighting

@@niedas3426 a defensive slow grass steel type, but its highest stat is attack and its ability is regenerator. Now Ferrothorn isnt outclassed, but this monster still has its place.

Powercreep

Swampert is a UU Pokémon and also has too many tough competition with other water and ground types to be used in higher tiers. Plus the fact Rillaboom is EVERYWHERE in OU and pretty much severely counter Swampert with little issues.

@@gioanysgonzalez3396 That doesn't matter. He only takes competitive into account, but the problem with that is some mons aren't build for competitive. Swampert by default needs to be the strongest starter, since it has the highest BST out of all of them and is also the only starter with only one weakness.

​@@nickdentoom1173playthrough and competitive are clearly very different (tho in recent gens if you go the optimal route the best starter is usually the best one in competitive as well). There is no issue with his list. A lot of people want swampert because they don't realise he hasn't been relavent for a while

That's strange since I find Cinderace pretty consistent... I mean, I don't doubt you're having rotten luck, I just don't have the issue you have.

I give it wide lens, pyro ball and high jump kick are 90% so give it that item and it is 100%

Charizard isn't that good, its at the lower end of the Fire type starters strenght wise.

I know right?! Especially considering Sheer Force literally nulls out the drawback of Life Orb. Not to mention the many coverage moves it can learn, like Ice Punch.

Incinaroar is the best starter for doubles but in singles, it’s not that impactful since the reason why is so good is because it’s a good support Pokémon. Rillaboom makes sense since it’s does well in both Singles and Doubles.
