My most recent purchase: 1999 Yamaha xvz1300 aka Royal Star Venture. join me as I go thru the top 10 reasons why I purchased this very special motorcycle. #yamaha #royalstar #xvz1300 #venture
Think I just bought identical bike. Ignore complaints about top heavy. This bike rides great. No buffering smooth ride. 3700 for 34k miles can't beat it. Easily serviced. Guy at bike week hade older one 360k miles. Original engine.
@@stepseven thouhts on my first ride heavey as fuck but hoily madness shes amazing ride wow feel so good very good going to do cluth upgrade for smother shifting this week
Nice 99 I have the 07 Blue/ Black. I have had it a year and a half it had 19000 miles on it when I got it and it rides like a dream. the six gallon tank is a plus when most bike are just 5 gallons. The drive shaft is awesome just make sure you keep a close check on the rear gear oil. you will have to remove the left luggage bag to check or add gear oil, have someone help you or buy a wheel chock so bike is upright when checking or adding gear oil and engine oil. Ride Safe and enjoy your new ride maybe I'll see you on the road one day. picture of mine.
Awesome bikes….I had a ‘99 that I sold with 40K plus on the clock after I had bought an ‘05 & swapped all my bling & upgrades over to the new one. The ‘05 is at 60K now without so much as a hiccup from either other than an ignition switch on the ‘05 while riding up the Hwy 1/101 coastline in Cali. Also put 8400mi on a 12day trip down to the coast at Mazatlan, Mx. from Ark. They are Awesome & Very Comfortable long haul bikes. A Little known secret upgrade that you would LOVE should you ever decide to….. You can do a direct bolt up swap out to Yamaha V-Max rear end gearing and considerably bump up your low end acceleration while also getting rid of that sluggish feel of the 2 top gear overdrives !! I had originally put one in the ‘99 & I then swapped it straight over into the ‘05….and the ‘05 now has 60K mi. on it at present. Still going Strong !!
A Royal Star Venture was my first touring bike. I had it for 8 years and 88K mikes, doing a lot of touring on it. I loved it and I towed a 2 person pop-up camper with it too. The club I belong to requires its road captains to have CB radios, so having one even if just to listen is very helpful. The bike does have good performance and handles well. Stopping power could be better. I only had a problem once with its carburetors due to a load of bad gas. Otherwise, the bike was very warm blooded and ran well in the winter. The charging system is not adequate for a touring bike. Two-up with electric clothing will be a problem as it only has a 30A alternator. For comparison my 2003 Harley Electra Glide has a 50A alternator, and a Gold Wing will light a small city. The electrical switches and connectors are not entirely water proof. I recommend going through the connectors with di-electric grease. The cruise control switch in particular would go bonkers after a good rain. My Corbin saddle for this bike was a big improvement, and looked better too. You will break the windshield trim when you try to remove it, no matter how careful you are. The engine and transmission are flawless and reliable. Everyone will love your speedometer, but you will always wonder why there isn't a rev counter. Use a torque wrench on your trunk mounting hardware. You'll never get it to stay until you do. Removing the rear wheel is easier than you think. You lose more power through that driveline then you think. While the passenger hand rails are strong, I never put highway pegs on the crash bars because they are so flimsy. You have a 1999 like I did. The antennae were re-designed. Yours might still be the screw-down locking collar, where the newer ones used a spring loaded pull-up locking collar. The older ones were prone to breakage. The cruise control is very sophisticated and can self diagnose using a procedure called out in the service manual. Get one. Have fun!!! Go look at my channel.
wow, thank you for all the detailed and usefull info. will keep this all in mind. i went from an FZ1 as my first bike to an an MT10. And then last year i got this as well. So its a big re ajustment.
I've had two of those. 1999 and 2008. Most comfortable bikes I've owned. I just sold the 08 in April to get a can am spyder. Now I'm trying to sell the spyder to get another Venture. Enjoy brother.
I bought it cuz i wanted the most confortable backseat for my gf. very cost effective indeed. can run on regular gaz and has great range. my other bike the gaz light comes on after 175km... I have a sorta touring bike, the Fz10, but RSV is next level confort.
@@stepseven dude I know exactly what your talking about I have a Kawasaki Vulcan voyager very similar bike with all the amenities you get on these japanese bike for such a low cost I'm shocked Harley is not out of business I paid $8k for mine it's a 2011 a Harley same year would cost $15k and have a ton of mileage I only had 15k in mileage on mine but you can't go wrong with these tourers
I rode a 2005 for ten years. They're fantastic bikes in spite of their antiquated technology. I have a 2018 Transcontinental Venture now and it's as different as night and day. Both are great bikes and there are things I like better about both.
The previous styled Yamaha Star Venture may have had some antiquated features however the Japanese bikes tend to be more reliable and dependable in nature like their cars.
Thing i hate most about the Venture, is removing the rear wheel, apart from that they are a great bike. with there being only around 30 - 35 of these bikes on the road in UK ( and half of them have been imported recently . mine is a UK bike ) very few people know what they are when they see it. they usually say i thought it was a harley, to which i say wash your mouth out with soap
I have a 2007 Royal Star tour deluxe and love it. I actually was going to a dealer to buy a 2005 Venture, got there and it was sold. The 2007 bike I own was parked next to it in their showroom. I took it for a test ride and came back thinking, "I'm not leaving here without this bike having a sold tag with my name on it like the Venture".
Hope you're still loving your bike. I have a 2008 and I love it. I've taken some longish trips on it and I call it the "Sofaglide." Next yeae I'm going cross country.
What is the cell phone holder you have on the tank? I just bought an 06 and was looking around at accessories. Also curious what kind of Bluetooth device people have been using with this bike.
How is the center of gravity? I'm a shorter rider (5'6", 30" inseam). I've had a Yamaha Stratoliner, and a Goldwing. Both bigger, heavy bikes, but they were very manageable with their center of gravity. Thanks for the video. Your enthusiasm for the bike is pretty cool!
@@stepseven I’m sure you’ve figured this out since it’s been a year since you’ve posted, but a little hack to make it easier is to turn the handlebars to the right to make it easier to lift it up from the stand.
I had the 2001 version. Same beautiful color. Unfortunately, I took it for a fly when I fell asleep at the bars and went down through a highway borrow pit and coming out the other side went about 7-8 foot in the air. It's a little heavy for that kind of treatment.
i have venture 1300 from 1986 its best of the best i was thinking about this motorcycle but dont know what is better in it...i have more space torque horses etc...if u never ride moto like this take it easy beckause....
i have the same bike, mine is year2000,but the main fuse has blown changing the battery,,says its under the left panel took the floor back rests off both sides but not there, where is the main 30amp fuse any idea..mike
it is under the battery box and is part of the starter relay, access from left side , take the left passenger floorboard off and 1 screw and the cover comes off
These bikes are under rated monsters! In a street battle stock they keep up with twin cams all day long so far the new "8" motor might be able to beat a venture. Now the statue of limitations is up: I've ridden from west NY to martha's vin MA in 5.5 hours including the 45min boat ride and a 20min lunch stop.
va hasta mas o meno 5 L per 100 km. puedo hacer con la gasolina regular tambien si es nessesario. me perase que 4000 es un buen precio por todo las cosas que offrese esta moto
@@OACSOME my 07 Royal star tour deluxe does. I actually think it sounds cool. I have a set of Sharkroad megaphone slip on pipes so it sound mean and the little bit of backfire makes it even meaner. I get compliments all the time.
Se vé genial. Vi una en venta en Costa Rica a un precio rasonable pero con un color horrible. Si la llego a comprar fijo la pinto por que no me gusta el color, es lo único reprochable que le veo a la moto aquí en CR.
@@G-Money1 as of now I can only go by what others have said. I'll be in the market soon. I'll make sure I sit on more than one type. I've ridden for hours on an uncomfortable bike before. Don't want to do it again.
