Warkworth Castle and hermitage is a must-see next time you can. The village below the castle is exquisite and has a river running all the way around it, like a fairytale village.

The garden at Belsay Hall is unique and beautiful - it’s well worth a visit. Consider joining English Heritage if you plan to visit several sites like Belsay, Warkworth Castle, sites along Hadrian’s wall, etc. We spent 10 days in Northumberland on our last holiday and I would go back in a minute.

Great suggestion, we've never heard of Belsay Hall, will be sure to visit when we're next back in Northumberland. We've been English Heritage members for a couple of years now, it's very useful to us because we can't get enough of castles! Thank you for watching!

You should have gone further north to Berwick-upon-Tweed. The most northern town in England, changed hands with the Scottish 13 and a full of History including the Elizabeth Walls

Just moved to Northumberland and been to a lot of these places already though still a couple I have yet to do. One place that wasn’t on here that I love is Warkworth castle and Hermitage. The castle itself is cool but what I find really special is the hermitage. You take a little row boat across the river and it’s a small monastery carved out in the inside of the rock. It’s a really cool secluded place and it’s amazing how it’s all carved out inside the cliff.

Yep, I've never heard of that one, I'll be sure to check it out on my next visit, sounds amazing!

The Hermitage has a very spiritual feeling to me . The castle has quite a dark history though , but Warkworth is beautiful place . It's been many long years since I was there . I wonder if the main street is still lit with little twinkling fairy lights at Christmas , because it used to look so magical , especially if it was a frosty night . I want to go back there once more , but unfortunately i'm not in the best of health . I have many happy memories though. 🤍

Angel of the north , locally known as the angel of death . . Known because of the number of accidents caused by rubbernecking by motorists after it was constructed . . Causing many casualties and obviously , deaths .

If you go again, you should head to the North Pennines. Specifically Allenheads and Allendale area. Really rugged, lots of fascinating minding history from the start of the Industrial Revolution and the people are really friendly and there are lots of good pubs. It’s also a good area for live folk music. I’m from Northumberland and would recommend this part as it’s off the beaten track and has a wonderful and unique spirit.

Cheaper parking for Hadrian's wall (Peel crag/Crag lough - Steel rigg) can be found at the pub on the main road 150 yards past the visitor center at the cross road turning for steel rigg car park. It's £5 per day and they refund you parking cost if you go in for a pint after your walk. They do good food too.

You need to go to see the Medieval Chillngham Castle about 70% of the items in the castle are original the real deal. I have a castle near me Langley castle and in my town we have a Abbey and has the very first jail in the U.K. with the old moot hall where they used to sentence the prisoners and witches.

Newcastle-upon-Tyne is in Tyne and Wear as is the Angel Of The North. Newcastle was in Northumberland till 1974 when Tyne and Wear was created. The Angel has never been in Northumberland, it was in County Durham till 1974 and is now in Tyne and Wear.

England has 3 different types of counties, and they all exist simultaneously, meaning Newcastle is in both Northumberland, and Tyne & Wear at the same time.

What a load of rubbish!! Learn to pronounce the names of places if you are going to put yourself out as a "guide" to them. For starters learn to say Bamburgh, or any word ending in burgh. I hope you never do a video about any more of the numerous places elsewhere that end in burgh. Newcastle upon Tyne actually is in the geographical county of Northumberland. Local government administration has nothing to do with geographical location, and to claim the monstrosity of the Angel of the North is in Northumberland is an insult to those in the county of Durham who have to put up with it.
