Pretty close actually - very similar, but Chicago does a better job with its waterfront I think. I live in T.O and love it, but I've been to Chicago as well and there are certainly parts of it that are exactly like T.O, and certain parts that are definitely nicer.

+NSinTO I guess that you have not visited Chicago's inner city - read third world ghetto section. Do you know that the urban gurus Jacobs and Fuller both left the place. Jacobs moved to Toronto. Are you aware of Toronto's global reputation as THE city of the future? And, I forgot to mention that Metropolis Magazine - a US publication ranked Toronto number one on the planet as the best place to live. I don't believe that Chicago ever held that distinction.

I think you should travel more because if you have been to other large cities such as New York or Chicago, you would realize that Toronto is probably one of the largest and friendliest cities you can visit in North America. Of course, the pace is faster but compared to many other large cities I have visited, Toronto is quite tame and most people who travel here from abroad compliment how friendly, helpful and courteous Torontonians are.

Regent Park is a rough area in the east end of downtown. If there is an area you want to avoid, that would be it. But Toronto is a pretty safe city all around and I don't think you'll have a problem walking anywhere downtown!

I've lived here for 15 years and I'm 16, almost 17 and I gotta say I definitely love Toronto, it's my home. ALTHOUGH it gets quite boring. So reconsider moving here if you always want to be entertained because after a while it feels like it's the same old, same old. King St. West is REALLY livened up on Saturday nights, no doubt about it. It's i guess you could say the "clubbing district" and college st. is quite live aswell on weekend nights. Theres nothing really special about the inside of The CN Tower, it's boring. Definitely check it out but once would DEFINATELY be enough. If I'd choose over Toronto to New York City, NYC would DEFINATELY be the winner. But then again, NYC is very expensive to live in. (great areas). Its expensive here too but then again it depends what you're living in and where it's located (condo, house, downtown, etc)

Speaking for myself, I treat anyone I meet in the same way that they approach me. Of course, it doesn't hurt to be polite and smile even to those people who don't do the same. Luckily for you, I'd have to say that Toronto is the most culturally diverse city in North America, if not, the world! Thus, we citizens, being used to such a diverse and culturally unique environment, all have a friendly attitude towards anyone. (To be fair, like any other city, we have the odd "idiot" now and then.)

Your walking distance from Queens Park which houses our Provincial government, more of an architectural interest but just north of QP is the ROM museum. St. Lawrence market should be a good 10-15min walk located on Front St. & Jarvis and if you do eventually hit the CN Tower, our harbor front is right near the foot of the building. Look up Toronto.com or .ca (I can't remember which) for some of the city's many spring/summer festivals scheduling permitted.

Well houses in a good neibourhood start usually 650,000 +. Condos start at about 300,000. Most other things are priced as other relatively big cities. Also remember toronto is one of the most safest big cities in north america.
