Well I didn't know his name came from three criminals. That's insane and criminals who committed major killings too. I mean it makes sense for a killer doll but still. You guys reminded me I need to do a Child's Play Marathon. As well as watch the major horrors like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm street
The Commenter Dragon nah killer dolls i think it’s called were the first OGs yeah the graphics are corny now but back then they were scary or so my mom says
One of the best lines, a little clue for another horror movies, was the "he looks familiar" after the sad ending of father and policeman, with the nails in his head😅 Well it was the beginning of his end😅
Child's Play 2019 was such a disappointment. Waited 2 years for the release thinking it would be the same great story with updated graphics but I couldn't even watch the whole thing.
@Kang they are actually going to do a crossover of Freddy and chucky and its going to be called childs play on elm street. Just dont know when its going to be produced yet
Yeah I new everything on here! I also own 2 tiffany dolls and one chucky doll and all the movies, and I went to geeked con and me the guy who play Chris sadron
Totally awesome that you brought up his mother! I had the books (had to sell them when I hit hard times) and there is a whole chapter that goes into his childhood. Matter of fact, it even goes as far as to point out that being in the doll body gave him a massive complex about it because of his mother's dwarfism. He didn't kill her because he was taunted, he killed her because she was super abusive and she loathed that he'd been born normal sized like his "big rat" of a father. Ok, I'll stop rambling. Just had to geek out over this because it is such a little known thing about him and glad someone else brought it up.
@@selinareyes92 they're out of print now and hard to find. Just pulp paperbacks that came out when child's play 2 and 3 had come out. Matthew J Costello is the author. Loads of background info on Chucky before he put his soul in the doll 😊
@@valysheev I always thought it was Mancini who conjured it up, but realize I may have assumed wrong. I think the backstory was created by the author (Matthew Costello) who converted the screenplay into a novel.
I love that while the bleeding doll idea was ultimately discarded, they teased it with that line in Child’s Play 2 between Kyle and the cop 🤣 It would have been a really awesome plot detail though. Imagine if when Chucky actually starts getting hurt, no one shows any concern and just knows it’s normal for the doll to bleed so he can keep pretending. Normally once he starts coming apart he loses the Good Guy act because his cover’s obviously been blown.
@@Maria-fg8ue really did i say he did no robert englud said hed reprise his role as freddy if he could have a nightmare movie featuring chucky funny that 84 people knew what i ment yet you didnt
How do you screw that up and John Franklin didn't do a chucky stand in, he was the good guy voice in the commercial in the first movie. He voiced the walk about chucky a.k.a the adult in a good guy costume that talks to the doll. And the good guy doll is not based on my buddy. Don Mancini the original writer states that his script was pre dated before the my buddy dolls surfaced. What the hell is watch mojo doing? They suck! It should be called, don't watch mojo!
I watched the original in the middle of the night. Then realized my son’s My Buddy doll was staring at me and my son had the same snow suit as the boy did in the movie.
The TV show actually did use the Kills His Own mother bit. But instead his parents were normal, Charles stabbed his mom to death to impress a home invader(who had just killed Charles' dad)
Everyone mentions the inspiration from My Buddy, but no one talks about Talking Corky. They're even voiced by the same voice actor (the doll, not Brad Dourifs part) and the faces look very similar. The only thing from My Buddy that I can see is the overalls
Hearing about the whole My Buddy inspiration has it all makes sense to me right now. I used to have one of those when I was very young. I also seen Chucky on tv back then and got scared. And that caused some neighborhood boys who babysat me one night to use it and pretend it was Chucky. Long story short the doll went bye-bye after that. It all comes full circle.
Yeah Lindsay Lohan wanted to sue the creators of GTA V cause the game includes a character named Lacey Jonas who was arrested after a police chase and a car crash, just what happened to Lindsay, but the case was dismissed as nonese.
Haven't made it completely through this video yet, so maybe it's mentioned, oh well. Obviously we know he was on SNL. However, my favorite Chucky moment is when he featured as a guest on the ESPN channel. I remember seeing it as a kid & genuinely believing that Chucky was alive. My mom spent a week convincing me otherwise. 😂
What scared me as a kid that scene when Chucky was in the back seat attacking the cop ,telling him goodnight asshole, ifrom here on out always check the backseat ,shit scared me shitless 😅
11:34 "the producers came to their senses and ditched the song in fear that it made their stab-happy killer doll seem silly" I guess they never predicted some of the sequels, specifically Seed of Chucky! (I personally love how silly and weird the movies, and now the show, have become though)
You find the Muppets scary they're just a little child ish and weird looking unlike Chucky the murder doll from hell(not actually from hell) who should be sent to hell and let demons or the devil to play with Chucky he looks weird too but he's scary and he's surtellny not childish the normal one is though.
I find it really cool that in the new Chucky show they actually show officially tonight that he killed his mother !! They added on that it was to impress a guy who killed his father !!!
Even when John Litgow is better known for Sitcoms like Third Rock from the Sun, I think Mr Litgow was pretty scary in "Raising Cain" (1992), he might have done a good job voicing Chucky.
It was terrible. Brad Douriff had nothing to do with it, and neither did the creator. It had a completely different storyline. It was a robot doll that goes crazy, and not a dead guy haunting the doll. It was complete trash.
Michael Trey everyone has their own opinion I don’t understand why we can just have both if you don’t like the reboot than you still have the original which is gonna be a tv series
Haha yeah I saw that One, all the other horror icons, meet Chucky😂 But Freddy and Chucky would be the best cross over as you say it, because they both not only are horror icons, but funny too, in their own creepy way😂 Not everyone like the last one, but by the origin story, they got worse too, sequel after sequel.. So the two first moives was the best one. And Andy go from asylum, to be more prepared as adult. And Chucky always end in face of a shotgun😅😅 They should have ended the movies after Chucky meet Tiffany, because after that weird duo, the movies got to the worst part... Brad Dourif ARE the origin as the voice of Chucky, and no one can make it a difference. But in a new storyline (as I also like, partly since it is a new beginning, and not by magic this time, kind of) it is allowed to do some changes. And if it never was for Braf Dourif, Mark Hamill would also be legendary, as the voice of Chucky. Well both actors ARE legendary, both as who they are of appearance, and their well known voices.
Another working title that almost actually happened for the original Child's Play was Batteries Not Included. Anyone who knows their 80s movies would remember the 1988 movie of that exact name.
Can we have another Watchmojo for Top 20 hiding spots in horror movies that Chucky made a crossover with? I want to see if I can spot ether some of them.
John Franklin was not Chucky’s stand-in. He was the voice of the big Good Guy doll mascot in the commercial - why he’s credited as “Walkabout Chucky” is beyond me - but Chucky’s main stunt double was Ed Gale, who is also known for having played Howard the Duck.
I had a my buddy doll growing up. But the moment I saw a commercial for Child's play....never looked at him the same again.....and I didnt even know till now chucky was based on it
During the first season, we literally witnessed Charles Lee Ray’s dark origin, starting from childhood, adolescence to adulthood before transferring his soul to a doll by using voodoo magic.
When I was little, I really wanted a Chucky doll, because of how cool he looks. I'm okay without one, now. 😂 I don't need that thing staring at me while I sleep.
It’s crazy how in the show now they show him killing her in a different way under a happy upbringing and he’s just a sociopath. The one in this video sounds better 😂 crazy this vid was recommended to me lol
Aww, his background changes slightly as we see in the series on how his mom was kill and how he really was because he had a pretty normal and lovely childhood
It sucks cause I knew all this including the theme song that I’ve loved since I was little and now when I mention any of these facts they’re gunna say “Oh you just saw that in a watch mojo vid, your no devoted fan!”
Tiffany: Oh, Chucky, have you got a rubber? Chucky: Tiff? Tiffany: Yes, Chucky? Chucky: Look at me! I'm all rubber! Tiffany: Oh. I thought you were plastic.
