Working while on a treadmill is multitasking. Almost nobody is saying we should do two complex things at once. What you don't believe in is the way people use the term "multitasking". Great video btw! Every moment matters and we should make the most of the limited time we have.
You are the first person I've come across that understands what is like to really not have a lot of time, to work for a big firm. The advice that other people give isn't feasible for people like us. For me, I don't respect the time blocks I set for myself, I ignore them all the time because I panic and tell myself I can't do what is in that time block because I have to finish what I'm working on at the moment. I also have been operating in reactionary mode for over 2 years and don't even plan my days anymore - and when I try, it causes a lot of anxiety and I don't even know where to begin because EVERYTHING is now urgent and important. How do I change this for real this time??
