The scene Superman protects his mother against Zod is by far my favorite.

I love how people were pissy about Cavill's Superman killing Zod but most of the beast modes in this list involves Superman killing or almost killing someone and nobody seemed to care.

*"YOU THINK!! YOU CAN THREATEN!! MY MOTHER!?!?!?!"* How the f**k did that get passed over for Kal snapping Zod's neck in being an entry on this list instead of an honorable mention? Does the latter even qualify as a "beast mode" moment for Superman, considering said-neck snap was driven primarily by desperation?

As badass as the "World of Cardboard" speech is, Supes was still lowballing himself. Cardboard is not soft or easily torn when it's thick enough. I've always said that Superman lives in a world of 5,000 year-old papyrus scrolls, just the slightest pressure is enough to destroy if applied incorrectly. Superman has said that if he flexes his muscles too hard he can cause earthquakes. That's beyond World Breaker Hulk level right there. Just flexing his muscles? He can't go full speed in atmosphere or he will ignited the air itself and cause a chain reaction that spells doom for Earth. His level of power is not easily imagined, which is why Batman famously said, "If you want a detective, you call me, if you want a diplomat, you call Diana, if you want a miracle, you call Superman."

Superman will always and forever be the Greatest Superhero.

I think the Zod neck break by Henry Cavill was not just the most savage but also one of the best acting by any of the Superman actors. And also my favorite one.

That beatdown move against Darkseid around 11:10, looked awfully similar to the Hulk beating down Loki scene from Avengers. I'm sure they specifically showed Hulk grabbing Loki by his feet to do that move to avoid a plagiarism claim from DC Comics.

Superman vs Captain Marvel in the JLU cartoon is always one of my favorites.

There was a comic I read once where Supernan thought Zod had killed his parents in Kansas and the panel of him flying to zoo while hitting him with his heat vision while the rage and sadness were making him open up his full abilities they looked like a giant red nuclear blast instead of accurate beams coming from each eye. It was totally awesome to see it at full power

I always found it funny how people complained about Man of Steel’s Superman destroying that rapists truck and snapping Zod’s neck. They always say “NoT mY SupermAn” while praising Christopher Reeves as the best version. Who mind you tortured and killed a powerless Zod and his fellow Kryptonians. And went after an asshole at a diner, knowing the guy didn’t stand a chance against him.

Superman's fights against Darkseid in "Superman The Animated Series: Legacy Part 2" and "Justice League: Twilight Part 2" were epic. I know it's not "official", but Superman went beast mode in two episodes of "Death Battle".

I'm shocked the time Superman was full of rage and attacked Mongul in "For The Man Who Has Everything" wasn't at least an honourable mention. You've got to give it to Smallville. Some things superhero adaptations do catch on forever - The grapple gun in Batman (1989) and Harley Quinn in Batman: TAS are examples. Red kryptonite has caught on. This may be an obscure fact, but red kryptonite doesn't take away Superman's inhibitions in the comics - Originally, it made Superman weaker to a stronger degree than green kryptonite, it was later retconned to cause either odd behaviour or bizarre transformations in Superman, but this was temporary and non-fatal. "Superman goes bad" with red kryptonite started with Smallville, it's an exciting staple of that show actually, always providing an exciting and fun episode. Now, whenever an adaptation has Superman turn bad, it's always due to red kryptonite - In Batman: The Brave and the Bold and in the Supergirl series, this happened. Even the synopsis for Superman III on Sky Movies, here in the U.K. where I live, has it described that a synthetic red kryptonite turns Clark bad, when the kryptonite isn't red in the movie. I think red kryptonite's defined effects suit the angry, mean colour of red, and that this should become part of classic Superman lore. I think it should be noted that red kryptonite made Clark apathetic in the Lois & Clark show prior to Smallville, and another piece transferred his superpowers into other humans.
