this gentleman should get a trophy for his videos. he is so compassionate to share with us his knowledge . I pray the universe blesses him and his family beyond measure.
robert trottier I agree! I just found him a couple days ago on RU-vid. It's difficult for an educated person to explain things to people like us ☺️ Let's just say we're educated in different areas but not heart health. I understand everything he explains and he is happy to educate people. Something I, personally, haven't seen in a medical doctor before.
Thank you so much - I wish there were more doctors like you! I'm very very athletic and developed arrhythmia (PVCs, occasional Tachycardia, some Flutter) about 11 years ago. Had an Echo, holter etc. and all was fine and diagnosed benign arrhythmias. It took 5 years after this for a doc to finally take my extremely low ferritin levels seriously (hemoglobin and RBC were fine) and put me on iron supplementation! This really helped. In addition, I take magnesium (I did this on my own after researching it a bit....my doctor knew nothing about it) and I quit ALL caffeine. I rarely get PVCs and never get tachycardia anymore. I do get the occasional flutter but I try not to worry about it. You are helping so many people :)
Thank you for your compassion and knowledge for us who suffer with palpitations. These are such helpful tips! Unless you have truly experienced what this feels like you can't understand. It means so much for a physician to really get it. Thanks again.
Very glad to come across this video. This started happening back in June. Suddenly my pulse was 136-140 and would last that way like 3 hours. I started having chest pain & palpitations. This obviously led to anxiety! This lasted June 27 until the end of August. Labs & EKG fine. Very scary. People didn't listen when i explain THIS is causing anxiety - not anxiety causing the palpitations. I'm embarrassed that I've had 3 ER visits and 2 regular Dr visits. I have a cardiology appt scheduled next month. Don't drink, don't smoke, no drugs, & cut back coffee & soda even. It's hard to wait. Taking magnesium really seemed to help because it's helped control my pulse even when I do have the pain & palpitations. Thanks for making a video to reassure people. :) :) :)
WOW this is amazing. My daughter just went to a cardiologist because of her palpitations (after I told her it was probably her nervous system or her stomach since she has some anxiety and some stomach issues) and of course, he told her that it was not her heart BUT never gave her any of this information. THANK YOU SO MUCH I am sharing this with her!!!
@@YorkCardiology sir I have continues palpitation.. Ecg was showing sinus tachycardia.. And stress is like my bornhood.. Doctor also found bad cholesterol level 130...i am trying all my way to reduce my stress and palpitations... Pls help how to reduce this cholesterol level... Without taking tablets....
I like how you Give Your Information Very Gently & with Care...thank you..I just started having Palpitations in the last Week...I see 4 things I need To Work on #1 being My Stress level...Thank you again Dr..
I am consistently watching your cardio presentations from the United States. Your easy to understand, valuable explanations continue to help me personally on various levels. Many thanks, Doctor, for your internet availability.
Thank you doctor very much. Recently started getting palpitation. I was really worried because i am taking medicine for pressure and cholesterol. After listening to you, I am relieved.
Thank you for this video! I was feeling frustrated because I already practice 9/10 of these tips and still have been getting lots of palpitations, but I decided to take the video as encouragement to continue with my healthy lifestyle and "double-down" on what I'm already doing right. AND, I'll start adding magnesium supplements to my diet :).
Wonderful suggestions, thanks so much! You really "get it", and all of us suffering with palpitations of various kinds are extremely grateful for your information!
Listening to u has made my palpitations less. It's about 6 days I've started with this doc, I'm seeing my cardiologist on monday. Thanks for helping doc learning a lot listening to u. Thanks nd God bless u. I'm from India, that's from goa.
I'm gonna write this in case people see this, I have been suffering from heart palpitations for the last 7 years. It started in 2014 when I was just 23 yrs old. It started because I was studying and working at the same time and I slept very little and had alot of stress in my daily rutine. Since then the palpitations got worse and worse. Few weeks ago I started swallowing couple gloves of garlic before bed time and this thing is magic. It completely took away my palpitations. Try it may help you too
Brilliant videos, I had heart valve surgery 12 years ago my anxiety is quite bad as I can hear & feel my heart beating sometimes very slow sometimes fast & hard
me being anemic + having diagnosed social anxiety + dealing with a stressful household + not sleeping as well lately = me currently having palpitations
I consider your teaching as great spirit that can go on helping others in great needs in these days faith in humanity without any other conviction of let's say making big money out of it let's face it it's rare you really together with the others do humanitarian work because teaching the effective method of how to avoid the specific conditions at the first place I hear great suggestions of very interesting things & trace their problems to their original roots .I really appreciated your help thanks.
Thank you Dr. Gupta for educating people. How can we get you to be heard by the uneducated and underprivaledfed who may not have a computer or may not even understand English. There are a lot of people in the US who can't speak or undersantad English. They suffer from the same health problems and probably even more so.
I'm here to see my best friend Dr Sanjay Gupta..with your help i will be able to "Rock'n'Roll...i'm 66....and changed my diet....i have one stent...i had 99% blockage one one artery...no more greasy burgers.....
@@Sami-yy5ld Usually after eating. Feel bloated then the food pipe spasm. Stress! Stress! Stress! I’d a 48 hour Holter 2 years ago and it was all Norman with less than 1% PAC/PVC!
@@KRAZEEIZATION I did a test nothing wrong .. But I still feel the heartbeat 💓 24/7 .. My beats its normal but I still feel them the stupid doctor gave me a med (nebilet 5mg) he said that will make them go away but I used it helped few hours first day then its no use all other days I read a bout it .. It just slower the heartbeat ..my beats are already slow lol 😆 I don't know what to do Should I continue take them or not
@@Sami-yy5ld Most doctors don’t do anything significant unless you’re on the floor I guess! Just live your life and do the things you love and take your mind off them. Anxiety and body checking is terrible.
@@KRAZEEIZATION you said in the first place that its hard not to worry.. It's something in your chest pumping how can ignore that and live life .. I wish someone have a solution.. So your 1st comment was 4 months ago so what now? Did you getting better?
Stop worrying Stop alcohol Stop smoking Start exercise it's anti inflammatory Stop stress it's inflammatory Reduce the amount of persistent food you have. Reduce amount of food. No large meals Treat reflux it's inflammatory Thyroid magnesium deficiency anaemic cause palpitations. Eat more magnesium rich food.
Omg bro yes every time I have one I worry about it more and more what you just told me help you a lot I will try this I'm starting to exercise little by little due to a ankle surgery but the doctor always says no go away they'll go away but when they come back it's very frustrating thank you very much I will be keeping up with your videos good night
The most important supplement to take is potassium. Most don’t realise that the vast majority of people are extremely deficient in it, at least 3500mg per day is recommended and potassium plays a role in every heartbeat. Potassium is what helped reduce my palpitations the most!
1.Stop worrying about them.(If you consulted a DR. & he says nothing to worry ,they will go away) 2.Cut down Alcohol & caffine drinks. 3.Stop smoking .🚭 4.Go do some gentle exercise.(Exercise is anti inflammatory) 5.Pay some attention to your Sleep. 6.Reduce your Stress levels.( Go on a holiday away from work) 7.Reduce Intake of processed food.(Eat healthy & reduce your portion of intake). 8.Treat for Reflux. 9.Take Magnesium rich foods. 10.Get tested for Thyroid.
I've had a dopler scan and holters. Mine come in phases whether I worry or not. I get missed beats pvc etc every day. Since aged 16 and I'm in my 50s .I exercise I run 5k a few times a week and get good sleep generally. Sometimes they fade away but then Sometimes they are brutal every other beat. Always after alcohol and spicy food. I rarely drink alcohol but its disappointing I can no longer enjoy the British tradition of a couple of beers and a curry. They still scare me even now when they get persistent. My work is stressful by nature but I can't afford to give that up. I take magnesium drink lots of water and eat pretty healthy. But still they come.. .. Dun dun dun.
I have always had heart palpitations due to having Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's right after my 2nd child was born when I was 19, I'm now 41 and been getting them all my life. They are really scary to me still, becuz it really does feel like my heart is flipping over. I always describe it as feeling like a fish flipping all over the place when u take it out of water. It sucks. Oh and I have horrible acid reflux, over thw last 3 yrs it's came on and I mean strong. I finally made a Dr appt for that. I'm also anemic due to heavy cycles.
For anyone with high heart rate and afib issues, I also recommend checking out the Milner Acetylcholine Protocol (MAP), rebounding (science pioneered by NASA) and the Wim Hof breathing method. Wim Hof's method saved me.
I am a cardiac patient and I told my cardiologist I have palpitations and the answer very fast was...what do you expect from someone like you who have a heart like yours....I was so depressed.
idk if he says this but I was having bad heart palpitations for 2 weeks, then literally ate a bag of spinach and they went away the same day. So if you haven't tried it, definitely do that!!👈🏽
Hello Doctor.. I am a 50 yr old Lady and I come from a family where my parents and sis all have had heart conditions. Since last few years I have a strange problem that during night time I wake up with uncomfortable feeling and wen I chk my bp which constantly low like 85/63 or so .. and my heart is 110 . My normal heart rate is around 80. While I do hv palpitations at times even during day occasionally, but during nights is high every other night. I have got myself tested. Everything seems to be fine.. I am NOT imagining things as my husband sometimes says I am. Its not that I have an ocd to keep checking my heartbeat/rate I do that ONLY when I start feeling uncomfortable and when ever I check I have a heart rate of 110 with low bp. I am exhausted with this too. And I really wish I get an answer as to why my resting heart rate at night specially so high and as day progresses it gets stable around 80 bpm or there about. I have not reached Menopause yet. Please do advice . Thanks
Last update! I'm completely cured now! Eating bitter gourd. And also still eating raw garlic. So bitter gourd and raw garlic did it for me. Thank you, Jesus!!!
thank you doctor, im a yoga instructor and Ayurvedic counselor, but still suffer from non stop palpitations for over 13 years :0 . do u think its due to Trauma/ptsd ? edmr? will be reaching out to you soon. thank youuu.. you're amazing..
Thank you so very much for your videos. They are very reassuring and all your tips make a lot of sense. About the magnesium, I am nervous (does that tell you something) about taking supplements, I purchased a while back from the Health Food Store a product called Calm which has magnesium carbonate, and citric acid, organic natural orange flavour and organic stevia. Then I did some research on line and it was said to possibly cause irregular beats so I have not taken any, maybe i should try it?
thx u so much...your videos helped me to calm down and stop worrying about these irregular heartbeat...I was in hospital 5 days while doing all tests n still went home and palpitations started again on odd days...but ur videos reassured me false alert...definitely my anxiety is what affecting my heart rate. ..also lack of sleep n overworked...I will start taking magnesium suppliment n see if that helps...thxs again

Nice Tips. 1. Stop worrying 2. Cut excessive alcohol 3. Stop smoking 4. Start doing some gentle exercise - gentle 10 minutes walk 5. Pay some attention to your sleep levels - good sleep hygiene. Sleep well 6. Try to reduce stress levels - go for a holiday. Some sunny place. 7. Reduce the amount of processed foods - Eat healthier and organic. Try to eat small amount of foods. 8. Treat Acid Reflux - avoid foods which induce reflux 9. Check thyroid and magnesium 10. Try some magnesium supplements - Eat leafy vegetables
From the video: 1. Stop worrying about your palpitations if you have been checked out by a cardiologist and your palps were found to be benign. They are not dangerous, only inconvenient. Worrying and having anxiety about them only makes them come more frequently. 2. Cut out excessive alcohol, particularly binge drinking. Also, the sulfites in wine contribute to more palpitations. 2a. Cut out caffeine, carbonated drinks, and energy drinks as they increase palpitations. 3. Stop smoking. Smoking induces chronic inflammation in the body which increases palps. 4. Start doing gentle exercise. If your palps are benign (see tip #1), don't worry about doing some exercise, it will be fine. Start with 10 mins of walking per day and build up from there. Exercise reduces inflammation which in turn reduces palps. 5. Get good sleep and enough of it. Lack of sleep has a huge inflammatory effect on the body which increases palps. 6. Reduce your stress levels. Stress is inflammatory. If possible, take time off work and take a vacation to someplace sunny and relax. 7. Reduce or stop eating processed foods. They are pro-inflammatory and the processing of the food strips their vitamins and minerals while also adding in toxins, chemicals, and preservatives. Try to primarily eat organic whole foods. Organic means the food has not been sprayed with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc., which are all poisonous to eat. Washing produce does not remove much of these poisons. Organic also inherently means non-GMO. 7a. Eat smaller portions. Large meals stretch the stomach which can worsen palpitations. 8. If you have acid reflux, get it treated. Reflux is generally caused by LOW stomach acid, not high. So antacids and PPI's will only make the problem worse. Avoid eating foods that you know give you reflux. For many people this would be things like dairy and chocolate. 9. Get your iron levels checked. Iron deficiency anemia can cause palps. Get your thyroid tested. Get your magnesium levels tested. Magnesium deficiency is most commonly caused by eating a diet high in processed foods. 10. Supplement with magnesium. The best way is to eat leafy vegetables. But if you must take a magnesium supplement, use any form except magnesium oxide because it's bioavailability is very low.
2:20 nothing bad is gonna happen to you.. you will not drop dead, you will not have a heart attack... I wanna replay this over and over.. thank you so much Dr. Gupta.
I had palpatations for 2 years. Tests revealed nothing. Palpitations got worse after being sick with covid19. I started taking magnesium, potassium and iron. I no longer have the palpations.
@@KameaAloha75 magnesium malate daily, and Natural Vitality Calmful Sleep magnesium glycinate with magnesium carbonate for sleep and palpitations. I also take vit D3 regularly since Covid19. I hope you feel better soon.
V Q Thank you so much for replying back. I hope you will feel back to normal soon too. I am a survivor of Covid too. My symptoms were loss of taste and smell and sinus congestion. My husband had it worse. He had all the classic symptoms. Nothing like mines. Strange how this virus affects people differently in different ways. I hope you get back to normal soon as well.
so basically it about having a healthy mindset and lifestyle instead of worrying everytime u have a palpitation .Eventhough its gonna happen forever but continue to ignore it and live positively .I pray to god that each of us that going through this get to live a long life 🙏
Tip number 11 : just watch your videos on ectopics and listen to your voice. The tip that works the best for me. Thank you so much for your help doctor . You're my sympatholytic drugs! :D
I have never felt so much better in years without meds just by watching this very informative video, it makes my life less stressful. Thanks Doc for making a lot of us life less difficult. I was considering many of the things you've mentioned here to be a major contributor of my experiences with palpitations. I have learnt alot and you're video will certainly helps me to cope better on a daily basis, so many times I thought it might be my last breathe but your cool video has a calming effect on me so I am able to face my days happy and bubbly. I wish you God's guidance and STRENGTH Doc.
Mine started when I had a bad argument with somebody and I been having them on and off since then it sucks.. it's like my body doesnt handle stress anymore I'm too young I'm 33 smh
I have been recently diagnosed with High blood pressure, been put on meds, and today I had an episode where my heart started racing, and my BP skyrocketed, I rushed to the ER and have been diagnosed with palpitations. You don't know how I wish you were closer to have a consult with you, I have appreciated your videos since I discovered them a few days ago, you put my mind at ease. Thank you so much!
I have had atrial fibrillation for 6 years now. The palpitations got worse in the last 4 months after I had 2 cancer operations. However after watching your videos and listening especially this one, I feel much much better. Loads of thanks from Japan.
It’s not just the food industry , it’s people in your line of work Sir, that are not as honourable as yourself.....Doctors prescribing Statins, antibiotics, blood pressure pills etc!!!!! Thanks for the informative video Sir. 😇❤️👍
I realize these videos are several years old but they helped me overcome almost debilitating anxiety over my benign heart palpitations. I don't know if the anxiety came first or the palpitations but either way it developed into a vicious cycle. I started having major and frequent panic attacks. Eventually, i was put on the correct medication for me and the panic attacks stopped. I still have palpitations but I don't focus on them anymore. I take a magnesium supplement called SlowMg that really does help. I gave up alcohol which helped the palpitations AND the anxiety. I do smoke and need to stop but I am very thankful for these videos. They helped me to accept that what i was experiencing was NOT going to kill me. I wasted a decade living in fear. Thank you Dr. Gupta for caring enough to make these videos. It really shows a level of compassion and empathy that people who experience these symptoms really need from doctors. THANK YOU AGAIN!
I am so relieved to find a doctor that makes me feel like I'm not crazy about reflux and palpitations. How can you relax and not worry after a palpitation??????? It is so hard to not worry, but at least there is a doctor that addresses how difficult he knows it is to just ignore it. Thanks so much for these videos, just having knowledge from a professional in the heart palpitation field is reassuring. I hope you continue to make more of these. I newly suffer from heart palpitations and went to the emergency room, they said its no big deal, but did not think they are related to the reflux or vegas nerve??????? I know my body and I know they are related, so thanks for validating my feelings doctor! How great is it for you to reach out to the world of people suffering, not just to your paying patients, GOD bless ;)
Donna McCausland This Dr.is heaven sent, its good for someone not to treat us like we are crazy or losing our sense's when we try to explain what we are feeling
Glad you are discussing ectopic beats. I have them constantly, accompanied with brutal brutal symptoms of "hunger" sensations (not hungry, not appetite), dizzy, lightheaded, weak legs, cold sweats, disorientations. A holter once showed 192 ectopic beats in on hour, othertimes, at random, less. The symptoms are brutal and scary, not the ectopic beats. I had a fasting serum glucose test (normal) but then again, tests for diabetes are unreliable. Had hormones tested, they were normal. Hypothyroid tests fluctuate, and antibodies for Hashimoto was slightly elevated, thereafter normal. Again, those tests are unreliable. Input welcome. Many thanks.
Doctor Gupta, I have never had palpitations in my life, I started getting them 2-3 months ago and followed your suggestions. Thank you so much, I saw differences right away. I was palpitation free until a few days ago when they came back. In my case I think the food and stress levels are the major contributors. They started getting better again. Thank you so much
