Wow, I never knew that acai berry was actually grow in palm tree. Thanks! I agree with sugar cane, katuk, jackfruit, sapodilla, and papaya. I have them all in my backyard one time or another, and they never disappoints me. The jackfruit still bear the sweetest and delicious fruit after almost 30 years, and sapodilla for 25 years. I still have never-ending supply of bananas and papayas that I share with my neighbors. A few years ago in my old house I have 3 mulberry trees, too. I don't like the taste (I have the red-purple ones), but they are very healthy and rich in antioxidant, so easy to grow, and could produce gallons of fresh fruits in rain season. I would suggest longan, mangosteen, soursop, dragon fruit, and rambutan if you have these plants available there...they are easy to be taken care of (although with mangosteen you need lots of space and patience because they grow slowly) and so very delicious, too! I love this video, I watch carefully from start to finish and didn't get bored (as I do with many other RU-vidrs) loves the information and explanation you gave, Sir. Greetings from Indonesia. 👍😄
Hi, I watch all your videos, The Moringa tree in Jack's garden, In India we make curry from moringa tender pods, and also we make curry using Moringa flowers(very good for vegeterian jack. Iam also avegeriation). It takes years to grow Moringa tree from seeds but if you cut branch and stick it in to ground it roots very quickley and you get another tree in about a year.
bobdev I live in California and I grow moringa trees from seeds. OMG they grow very fast! They grow about 10 feet after a year! We have to trim them every year because I grow them in my front yard!
Yes, pineapple! My all-time favorite fruit. Here in The Netherlands the fruits from the supermarkets taste like battery acid. I've had fresh pineapples in South America that were a million times sweeter than the canned stuff, and way more tasty. Also had the white variety there :-) So sad that we don't get the quality stuff here year round. P.S. I'd definitely also grow coconuts if I lived in the tropics.

Looks like a good idea, especially for me who lives in Brazil. I'm 16 years old and living in the tropical part of the country (I live in Goiás state) is good bcs we have a cornucopia of those fruits in my city.

Roy Smith Yeah, I live in Indonesia. Planting cherries, apricot, peach, plum, and lychee would only be a dream. Thank God we have rambutan and longan... There are local apples here, though. And for @Nero Baobab I heard Barbados cherry is delicious, too...
The very best mangoes are from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, which is close to where I am based. I used seeds from the mangoes I ate and these have sprouted and doing very well, although they are very young, at the moment. Ditto for jackfruit, lemon, orange, carambola, pineapple (store bought, serrated leaves), mulberry and guava.
Hi John could you advice which type of tropical fruit tree that wouldn’t grow too large that I could grow in container to bring inside during winter. I live in GA. I love many tropical fruits since I eat them from childhood and really want to grow them. All different kinds like jackfruit, mangosteen, sugar Apple, soursop, mango, longan, papaya, avocado, .... is any of these would work in container? It’s ok if they bear less fruit in container, as long as there are some fruits so that I could enjoy and have some fun of growing. Thanks in advance and I really enjoy your video
I grow mango... a pain in the butt until you figure out all the things and attention you need. One person down the road does nothing, another a block away needs to baby it. But, still a great fruit to grow. It is cold sensitive, grows slow, sometimes takes a few years to get fruit, protect trunk, water to drip line, give it good air circulation, don't trim too many branches each year because it affects fruiting, sooty mold, etc, etc. Oranges and Limes can be rewarding but citrus has its problems. Mulberry, Sapote, katuk, moringa, jack fruit (takes time), passion vine, dragon fruit cacti, banana, papaya, malabar spinach, lemon grass, cane and a few others work in S. Florida. Some of these are pretty easy to grow in S Florida.

Trying to get a community garden started in my neighborhood, I am also part of sarasota's "Orange Blossom Community Garden". Even though you don't know me, you're like family. I've learn to eat unique fruit some are very good and some not but the ones I do like I have taking the seeds and started growing my own some take time and some just don't make it and the ones that have are amazing I started with pineapples from seeds and some tops then came mango,avocados, and jack fruits and red dragon fruits and now my newest is the yellow dragon fruit seed and dates and I don't live in a high hot clement I live in Iowa but if I ever move to FL I know where I can go get some cool plants thanks
As much as I liked ur last video, this one lacks presentation of the fruits u discuss, even the trees are hard to see... i have most of the trees u present, still.. a jackfruit on a tree is interesting to see for people that are not familiar with them.. I lack the red one, didn't even know it existed.. would be nice to see u show more of what u talk about in ur future vid..

I would add passionfruit, guava, cashew apple to the list of tropical fruits, that are great for their juices (have to be sweetened), and so many others. Tomatoes (fruits?), bananas, coconut... Have you ever been to a tropical plantation/farm, more south than Florida, outside of the US?
There are different varieties of mulberry. Some are NOT hardy in South Florida, but a few varieties are and grow quite well. I live in South Florida and have a very productive mulberry tree. It’s a dwarf everbearing.
QLIQLIable actually mulberries grow in Hawaii Samoa Tonga and Tahiti and ancient Polynesian people used mulberries and the wood of mulberry trees to make tapa a type of fabric :))

Binkie Pinkie Cherry can't be planted in tropical climate...I wish it could...My dream is to have a healthy cherry tree with thousands of fruits hanging in my backyard...next to a peach, plum, apricot, and lychee trees...I live in Indonesia, tho, so my dream would only be a dream... 😢😢😢
I planted like 10 peaches last year because I don't live in tropical climate and peaches remind me of tropical fruits by taste. I wish I lived in a tropical region because that's where the best fruits grow: mangoes, avocados, coconuts, bananas, you name it.
*Lady Voldemort* Barbados Cherries and Can be grown in Florida. I grow them. Also another cherry is what I call the Florida cherry, though it has another name, grows very well here too.
+oneyardrevolution is in the US zone 5. +Albertaurbangarden is in the CAN zone 3. Obviously these are colder than you requested, but I imagine if they can grow X, you certainly can :)
+aravista222 the back of most seed packets let you know what time of year is good for growing based on a little zone map of the USA. I remember Burpee having this.
+pj snedeker Plant them separately not so far apart , they will naturally spread, ( they are clump growers ) so give room for the new plants to come up.
I live in West Palm Beach and my yard is cursed. Absolutely nothing will grow in my yard, with the exception of cassava. Every fruit tree I plant, fails to grow and then dies a slow death. I just can't figure it out.
katuk, sugarcane, papaya, banana, guava and others, they just not a special plant here in my country, they are a common plant, especially sugar cane, old time in my village black sugarcane was always grow near hause drainage.
I'm surprised being Florida no.1 for oranges not one in any yard is it too many orchards yeah but you want one yourself be the first tree I plant I love them that's like them more than mangoes more refreshing when thirsty one of favorites actually would have my own orchard sell them really cheap so can compete with price wars..
Only to a small degree, -3C or 27F should be ok. Depending upon your location dwarf trees can be protected by covering or having Christmas tree lights (non-LED) around the tree in sever frost days.
VOTE4TAJ okay, i want to plant some here in germany, one day this year we had 16 °C in december and frost about - 1 Celsius Will they tolerate more frost till they are bigger? Do you know how much frost oranges can withstand? Maybe you can tell me a tropical fruit that tolerates frost good?
+Quantum you cannot grow mangos in germany in the garden (only in a wintergarden or greenhouse). you can try to grow other more or less frost-hardy exotic plants outdoors: paw-paw, blue passion flower, yellow passionflower, maypop, kiwi, arctic kiwi, kaki, american persimmon, figs, jujube, pomegranate, sichuan pepper, japanese banana, darjeeling banana, trifoliate orange, ... some might require winter protection. you might want to contact a local nursery, and ask for varieties suitable for your climate.
+Quantum If you do try to grow a mango tree, keep it small, and cover it when it frost. I live in zone 8 in California and I know some people who do this and have been successful.
here in virginia mulberries are a nuisance to people because they just grow EVERYWHERE absolutely everywhere haha i love them but people here try to kill them ever year with no avail since thy just wont die!! powerful hardy tree with really nice tangy staining fruit!
+thewhitewolf It's a small garden…I bought these things called "jackpots" (fabric pots) that I can put anywhere, so, the anti-garden anti-food growing HOA police would have to be in my backyard to see it. The mango tree they obviously can see over the fence since it was about 15 feet tall… it was a Cogshall, I miss it :(
U don't need frost to kill a durian.. too wet, too dry.. too windy and a low of 15* Celsius will just knock him out of his socks.. the best u get is a non fruiting tree
The true black mulberry is where the flavor is. M. Nigra. Hard to find though as many bad sellers labeling the dark red mullberries(M. rubra and some varieties of M. alba) as black mullberry and even as M.Nigra. M. rubus is an American native and is good to eat but it is being threatened by wild crosses with M. alba and it only grows in eastern climates, not west coast. Alba has bland fruit, the tree is really only good as silkworm food and so it is a useless invasive exotic weed in America, only introduced for a silk making scheme many decades ago and so should be cut down at every chance.
