Believe it or not they actually were going to have him BE Eric initially and explain that his trip to Africa made him more of a man or something like that. I think the show may have worked with Bret Harrison as a "replacement" for the Eric character but when he decided to jump ship they should have called it quits. 70's Show is one of my all time favorites but man is the last season painful to watch. I still think it's prime for a revival as That 90'S Show now that all the cast have not much going on.

That's one reason why I love Breaking Bad so much. Vince Gilligan didn't drag the show out until the storyline suffered. He did 5 seasons and then ended it. I love the Black List but I can tell that the storyline is getting weaker the longer the series goes on.
I actually would have preferred if Breaking Bad ended at season 4. Season 5 was good, but I liked the ambiguity of 4's end... also, it didn't turn every character into a giant jackass. lol

Pretty much all of their good writers left by the late 90s. They still had some good episodes here and there after that point, but it was nothing like it used to be. Now it's just crap. The characters used to be flawed, but ultimately charming and likeable. Now they're all written like terrible people, but somehow we're still supposed to like and root for them. The jokes are seldom funny, and if a joke does land it seems like it's more by accident. I used to seek out new episodes, but now I usually only catch a new episode if I forget to change the channel after football. I still seek out older episodes on occasion because those first several seasons were genuinely good.
It got so popular because of another hit Comedy/Drama/Soap came on right around the same year as "Greys Anatomy." "Desperate Housewives" The only major difference is "Desperate Housewives" did the smart thing and ended the show gracefully. If it was still on the air who knows what kind if controversy it would go through with the woke left. LOL. ALL those controversial storylines "Desperate Housewives" had during its 8 year run wouldn't pass the SJW test. It pretty much would offend everyone. 😂
When I was a kid, the Simpsons was my favorite show. And right now it boggles me that is is still on the air. I watched the show go from brilliant to good to OK to bad, and now beyond embarrassing
The same thing could be said about Spongebob. It was once my favorite show but as time went on it went from being great and memorable however sense the original writer Stephen Hillenberg left after the movie, anything that's Spongebob related to season 5 onwards gets worser and worser over time. I am so agitated with how my favorite character Patrick Star was absolutely fucking ruined the further in time the show goes on
Cast is actually not the most essential part… The shooting crew is too sloppy in many ways now, especially when bringing up old cases. The only ”old case new episode” I don’t hate that much is that JJ finally got a chance to learn about her sister’s death. Even political cliches in ”FBI” look better than CM stories now.
I always thought this show was too much of a soap opera. In my opinion it was only tolerable when Katherine Heigl was on it. I'm surprised they kept making this show after Patrick Dempsey left.
Going on for 39 years your bound to get an episode or two that's not very good but the show still holds its viewers so it hasn't gone one too long. With time and changing of writers the show style changes a bit but still good. It of course was better when people were less offended , so can't really compare the show 25 years ago to now.
I think the fact that it was intended for generation x and Millenials, it should have upgraded the ages or something. I think Cartoons who's premise is mainly based on the ages of the characters, should also eventually get older or end I.E Southpark & Simpsons. Bart was my age when it started and I'm almost 40.
That last season of Gossip Girl was just horrendous thank goodness it was only 10 episodes lets see if the writers learned from their mistakes in the sequel/reboot coming this spring
I agree. I don't understand either. Now, that being said, I have never watched even one episode due to this. It may be the greatest show... BUT, somehow I doubt it.. Just my opinion obviously, not my "cup of tea" lol
When a show’s premise is exhausted and the writers keep repeating themselves and/or the actors get too old, the show should end in dignity. TBBT was my favorite show - having discovered it in reruns on TBS, but it last two seasons had no point. It could be argued that having the characters get girlfriends and get married should have ended things - since the original premise was gone.
In the later seasons of TBBT, there were some great episodes but those were generally the ones that were about the main plot. Most of them were just filler episodes and it felt like the show had really had its day. Decent show (somewhat controversial statement, I guess, as there are a lot of people that hate it) but it went on for far too long.
Jerry Seinfeld explained that he ended it, because he was also head writer as well as appearing in it, and the workload had worn on him after ten seasons. I think it ended at the right time. The last season was okay, but not great, and I couldn't see them squeezing another season out and maintaining the quality. It went out at the right time, on its terms. That how it should be for every show.
@@dhenderson1810 There's a Larry King Live interview with Seinfeld from years ago where he talks about that. It's one of the reasons why I think creators should have more control, especially on when a show ends. I guarantee you most of these shows ran as long as they did because of network greed.
I don't understand why people say season 9 was bad. Sure maybe the 1998 half, but the 1997 half had The Butter Shave, The Voice, Serenity Now, The Merv Griffin Show, Backwards Episode, and Festivus.
changing the personalities of the characters was dumb too. they changed Fez from naive and funny and quirky (which most ppl liked) to trying to make him the new Kelso. Hyde should have ended up with Laurie, there was always chemistry there.
How are these for scenarios.... Fez ends up with Caroline... they live happily in her cute nuttiness. Or.. he ends up with Fenton.... Fez was always a bit girlish and he and Fenton had some chemistry too. The whole kelso and hydes African American sister was boring too.l

Fox left, it was done) - Night Court (What were they think for their final season. It made no sense) - Frasier (The Daphne/Niles story ran for way too long) - The Drew Carrey Show (Drew’s wife search was just ridiculous. Kate leaving didn’t help either)

Teen Titans Go: The same story but the show was never liked by fans, even on day one.

It is actually a bad idea to make the show have so much pop culture in it, as it ages the show terribly on reruns. Look at the New York episode. A major portion of the jokes is used on the Twin Towers, and that episode in particular has aged poorly. Better to use historical references (since they apply at any time) or just make the episodes so they can be as relevant twenty or thirty years later.
So right about Two and a Half Men. When they made Jake dumb, it was heartbreaking. And when Charlie left, I just stopped caring. Simply watched it for closure.
I kinda guessed the ending of HIMYM, but the twist I thought would occur would have been even worse for you fans. I knew he would get involved with Robyn again, but I thought the final ep would reveal that Robyn IS the mother, and that, after seasons of looking for "the one", the mother was right under his nose the whole time. If you hated the ending they had (the mother dying) than this one would have made you even angrier.
Why would it be? Fans agree it’s still on fucking fire and it is and it’s ending with this season because no one wants to see it die when it starts to suck
I think smallville should’ve ran longer tbh and it talks about Clark’s journey from an awkward teen to the person he eventually becomes so it makes sense for it to be 10 seasons
With_2Gs yes the last season wasn’t the best but everything before that stands strong 💜 Unlike most of these shows that’s starting going down hill SEASONS BEFORE their ending. Just a dedicated Scrubs fan’s opinion though, not everyone may agree.
It's gotten much, much better in the last 4 years or so. Less focus on celebrities and the jokes have gotten better. Only problem is the length of time it takes to get an episode made. The Simpsons pop culture references are outdated by the time they air. But there's just something that keeps me watching, it's usually something Homer will say or do that reminds me of the golden age. Like calling Bart a little son of a bitch 2-3 seasons ago when doing another toddler Bart/baby Lisa episode.
Honestly the Big bang Series should have been number 1. That show stoped being funny and entertaining like 4 years ago. Modern family is a great show but has overstayed its welcome years ago as well

You could go for another Garry Marshall sitcom and say Laverne & Shirley. When they moved to California, it was on the respirator waiting for its ending. When Cindy didn’t appear in the final season, it was basically in a coma.

When the producers got away from the original concept of the 1950s and early 1960s period, that’s when the series went down the toilet. The early episodes featured the style of the time it was supposed to represent; but after season four, you couldn’t tell what you were watching. I mean, the show stopped following the style of the period it was supposed to be about. You might as well been watching a late 1970s or early 1980s show, which it was from; but that’s not what the original concept was. And I hated the styles of the 1970s and 1980s. I stopped watching the show after Richie left, but I had seen enough already.
I think The Big Bang Theory needed one more season to flesh out some of the plots & storylines. Leonard & Penny’s pregnancy should have been developed & explored, same with Raj’s love life, potentially with Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
I have watched a few episodes into the current season. I always thought I would stop watching if they killed off Daryl. Turns out, I lost interest after Rick left. I know he's coming back for movies, but I think I have just lost interest for good because I just don't care anymore. Plus, I'm really not a fan of the Whisperers arc.
Walking Dead should have ended with the defeat of Negan. They should have done a movie to tie everything up and call it a day. I tried to stay with it, but when Carl and Rick was gone the show had no purpose
Amogh Rao the last episode was just bad, but the plan to end it while it was the most watched show, made the rest of its last season that much more interesting. EVERYONE was talking about Seinfeld that year.
A show that deserves an honorable mention: Winx Club. 8 seasons, 3 movies, another 2 seasons in a spin-off, 2 more seasons live-action, started airing in 2004 and I'm pretty sure it is still airing. Plus most fans agree that the first 3, arguably 4 seasons and the first movie were more than enough.
Truthfully they should end it on the next season, it has been dragging for awhile now, plus they should also cancel fear the walking dead, now that is down right a bad show
@@scorpion199227 You say it's dragging but there's been new life injected into it. Season 9 was really good, season 10 looks really good. What more can you say other than it's been on for a decade? Is that a reason to cancel the show, just because it's been on for a while? Judge the story, the characters, the potential for future story lines. Everything points to a few more very good seasons of the show.
Personally for me I enjoyed Smallville for its entire run!! I mean the show had its weak seasons (S4, 6, 7 (imo)) but overall still one of the most iconic and best comic book tv shows out there!!
i still love Greys Anatomy and after every milestone i want more i really want it to hit 20 seasons but yeh it might be excessive but the creative writing and Acting is still good...

Call me Crazy..... But I don’t think Smallville went on for too long. Every season felt like like a reasonable experience for Clark Kent’s development into becoming Superman.
Law & Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit): September 20, 1999 - present Season 21 is already scheduled for September 2019. After the 12th season when Stabler left, they did a lot of changes over the next few seasons. To me, the writing quality was down and noticeable. By the 16th season I think, I stopped watching. I can rewatch reruns of the older seasons (Season 3 through 12 especially, minus the episodes with Dani Beck), and despite the fact I've seen them many times (thanks to COUNTLESS reruns on USA Network), I can still enjoy the episodes . The later seasons however, just seem stale and weaker. It's a show that should have ended awhile ago.
I agree with you even though Law and Order SVU was my favorite tv show. I re-watch from seasons 2-9 which are fantastic. After season 9 I can only re-watch certain episodes because I think outside of a few, alot of them are average-weak.
Also, "SVU" was also known for its memorable big name guest stars in the early seasons like Carol Burnett and who can forget Ellen Burstyn as Stabler's mom.
A couple of things made the show go downhill. 1. Ever since the season when Elliott(Stabler) had a hiatus and came back, the show was less interesting, mainly because of the writing. (I think the writing strike was going on at that time. 2. The previews bstarted revealing too much of the plot and the perp. 3. #2 led to the beginning credits automatically showing that the guest was ALWAYS the perp. 4. Less court cases after The female attorneys left the show by bseason 11 I think 5. Stabler leaves and the new cast comes in changing the whole format of the show. It relied too much on shock. Value of the crime, but the investigation was weak and got progressively weaker. 6. Previews wouldnhypenupnthenepisode for.itntonturn into a disappointment. 7. Olivia and Finn being the last of the original characters, but all the new ones were very unlike able.
@ Warren: 1. When did Stabler have a Hiatus then come back? I know Olivia did for many episodes (while Mariska was on maternity leave) and they brought in Bani Beck (which those episodes did lack quality). I know he left the show after the 12th season (due to contract negotiation failure), but I don't really remember a time he left prior to that. 2. Honestly, I never watched the episodes "new" from NBC until like season 13. All the episodes I saw were when it aired on USA's CONSTANT reruns over the years. No joke, I remember they would air SVU marathons for over 12 to 18 hours straight, with a break at like 3 or 4 AM to then restart it at like 7 to 8 AM. Since they aired most of the episodes in order (or at least stuck to the same season when airing them), I made checklists so I could cross off what episodes I saw, because trying to keep track, yeah good luck. Granted, this was like 10 years ago I think. 3. I'll be honest, I never really paid attention to guest stars since I didn't know most of them anyway. While not all the time, I do agree that MOST of the time the guest starts were the perp. They did do it a few times where not only was the guest start not the perp in some episodes, but would help the detectives solve the case (which yes, some of the time they would have ties to the perp, even if they weren't the perp themselves). 4. I'll be honest, I kinda miss both Casey Novak and Alex Cabot. One I did NOT care for was when Elizabeth Donnelly was the lawyer and not the Judge. I can remember at least 3 to 4 episodes where she basically took charge on a case, for w/e reason and in the end, made it worse (somebody being sentences for a much higher crime than they should have, at least 1 to 2 of them were kids). I mean she tried to railroad Linnie Malcolm on an open shut justifyable homicade due to sposal abuse, but Elizabeth was pissed. I don't care her reason (even if she saw the light at the end of the trial), they did use her multiple times just to increase drama in episodes that annoyed me. They easily could have had an episodes that was an easier 2, open and shut cases, something that rarely happened, but instead decide to make it more complicated, especially when she took charge of the trial against the kid (who was a little slow). He shouldn't be locked up, but the other kid Zack (I think his name was) should have been. Now when Elizabeth was a Judge, I think she did a better job there, which is something they should have stuck with. 5. Yeah, the new cast was weak, a lot of things were lost. There was much less investigating in newer episodes than older ones. I mean I remember when in an older episodes, you might hear the *dun dun* at least 6 to 12 times (not including the 2 in the beginning) before half the episode was over, as they CONSTANTLY moved from location to location to ask questions and all that, like REAL cops would do, investigate around, see if anybody saw or heard something, etc. Instead, yeah, they did rely on too much shock, even trials got more boring. I mean when that 1 psycho kidnapped Benson, he went on trial, the Jury actually had the balls to say they think Benson should be somewhat punished for her actions (when she was beating him). She should have just shot him when she could as he already had a large body count to his name, would either get life in prison or executed anyway. They didn't do that because they purposely wanted to bring him back so he could do it again, but instead end it Russian Roulette style. Side note: You know the series breaks any and all continuity credibility when Stabler, somebody who was her partner for well over a decade (I think close to 2 decades), didn't once show up to help SVU try to find her (not even as a "Guest Star" appearance . That is 1 thing they especially failed on, but I'd never forgive them for as it defied any and all logic of character relationships they had over the seasons. From what I saw, I think the got weaker on all the forensic investigating that used to be done. They were constantly comparing things in previous seasons, trying new theories, new ways to catch perps, and pushing the envelope. They pretty much forgot most of that from what I remember. I stopped watching the series I think by the 18th season 6. I stopped honestly watching the previews as they ALWAYS hyped up the episode (including take things completely out of context) and would usually be let down. 7. Ice T is such a badass. He'll probably be on the show until it ends. You know he's also a big gamer. Some of his gaming twitter posts are funny.

The cases were a lot less interesting because, it didn't play to the strengths of the detectives, and it seems like they were trying to juggle screen time. The show changed after that because it seemed from then on it was a lot of hit & miss.
Right on point. I was talking to someone a few weeks ago who still watches the show who says it's gone on to long but when i said the point about finishing the comic storyline they said well it's fair enough why they would do that.
By the nature of the show that it parodies real life events it has plenty of material to keep to it running, but I must admit that the formula is running for too long and getting repetitive with the same characters.
While not a primetime show SNL has been on the air since October 11th 1975. Maybe it's because I watched the first episode and I am older now but I just don't find it particularly funny anymore.
Big Bang Theory's episode count is justified since most of its characters had great character development especially Wolowitz. From a cringey creep to a great loving husband
