I seriously can not believe Ozzy Ozbourne is not on this list! And not even an honorable mention? He AT LEAST deserved that!! Even after 50 years, you can't tell me that if you were to hear a song play, as soon as you heard him sing that first word, you wouldn't know it was the Godfather of heavy metal.

EQKaiena Thank you..! I've been loving his remarkable voice since I was a child. My parents were 18 and 19,when married and had me,and my dad listened to EVERYTHING from Maggie Bell and Pink Floyd,to Black Sabbath's "Changes",where OZZY's awesome and special voice became my childhood favounrite. 😀😎👧🏻He got Even better as a solo artist.As a young teen in the 80's,I used my paycheck on OZZY's records,and one of my 1st CD's was "The Ultimate Sin",and "Killer of Giants",plus "Shot in The Dark".. I've been to 4 OZZY Concerts,2 of them here in little Norway,where he is truly appreciated.All lighter's were lit,from he entered the stage,in Bergen,beside our Mideval Hall and dungeon prisoner cells.THAT was a perfect place for him to sing. The last concert I went to,was in 2012 or -13. OZZY sounds like he did at the age of 30. OZZFEST is our dream,but flyging to the States from here,is wayy to expensive,I'm afraid. Hoping he comes back here.. 🇳🇴👩🏻🎤🎸🎼

name any hit band / group /singer and any fan of music will tell you it's sound is unique. if your voice isnt recognizable it doesnt mean you're just a cog in the system, it means you wont be remembered. counterpoint, doesn't this list hinge entirely on personal opinion? lol

I haven’t gotten thru much of the list yet, but this is true for some so far. Cocker and Charles had a distinct style, where as Bowie varied his over decades but was uniquely identifiable.

Damn straight. Couldn't believe he didn't even make the honorable mentions. Finding my way, Bastille Day, all of 2112, Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer. List goes on and on. Nobody sounds like that. Polarizing and massively underrated. Absolutely unique. I'm going to go spin Signals now. Decent list but lacking one.

Yup. Geddy's voice is unique - and polarizing. I'm a fan along with just being a Rush fan in general. And in live performances, he was singing while playing complex bass guitar lines and sometimes working foot pedals. Geddy Lee is probably the ultimate multi-tasker in rock!

I guess the 80's never happened outside of Michael Jackson. Dave Gahan - Depeche Mode Bernard Sumner - New Order Robert Smith - The Cure Morrissey - The Smiths Danny Elfman - Oingo Boingo Richard Butler - Psychedelic Furs Axl Rose - Guns N' Roses And of course I'm naming the more "unique" voices. There are plenty others that are distinct in there own right as well. Simon LeBon, Debby Harry, Bono, Sting, Chrissie Hynde, Ric Ocasek, Roland Orzabal, Andy McClusky, etc.

Ðavy Liam definitely deserves a spot. I'm not saying because Oasis is my fave band (definitely not...), his voice is very recognizable and nobody sounds like him, not even his brother. Coming to think about Yannis, you're right, he actually sounds like every other indie rock singer.

+Ashers Mc lol I can recognize hundreds of singers by one note, but that doesn't mean they are unique in how they deliver the notes, phrases, etc. Paul Stanley from Kiss ha(d) a hugely powerful voice but I would NEVER tell you it was unique. Paul Rodgers has an awesome rock voice, but again, I can't call it unique. Someone like Layne Staley, hugely unique. Mike Patton, hugely unique how he delivers his voice.

I went to a couple of his shows. One of them he must have been feeling very country that night, because he sang all of his well known early songs in a heavily country song manor. Great if you want variety, but I kind of wanted to hear them in a way similar to the original version. Just my opinion.

Take Cobain for example, out of the 4 big Seattle bands he had the worst and least Unique sound. You can find people singing like him in any live bar in the country, there's nothing special about his voice. Staley, Cornell and Vedder have far more range and Unique sounds than Cobain, Especially Cornell.

Dolores o'riordan she was amazing a mighty little Powerhouse RIP. I saw her in concert at the Noize Factory in Philly.They are all indeed unique greats. I grew up with Michael. 80s music is the best. My favourite who was on your cover picture for the video is Björk my Scandinavian Scorpio sistar. I saw her in concert 3 times from east to west and Back Again. She performed in a small Church in Oakland and then on a huge stage with enormous explosive fire on Coney Island and New York City. I've been listening to her since she was a little girl singing gling Glo and with a sugar cubes as a punk rock teen. Motorcrash best song. Tapitkerass incredible also. The Icelandic band Sigur Ros opened for her. They are quite amazingly original too👊👽 but no one can replicate or even come near to Legendary Björk Gudmondottirs voice. Great job here mate 🎶💃🏿💃🏼💃🏽 cha cha cha!

I think the reason they didn't put people like Elvis Presley or Stevie Nicks is because so many others are always Imitating them. So much so, that they no longer sound "unique" anymore... I would have put *Barry Gibb* on this list. Very few men can pull off a falsetto range like he could...

I like your list much better than theirs...also what about Amy Winehouse, Willie Nelson(Willie just has to sing one word and you know it's him), Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Joey Ramone, Hank Williams 3, Levon Helms(The Band), Tim Armstrong(Rancid), Lucinda Williams, Lou Reed, Fred Schneider(The B52's), Patsy Cline, Noddy Holder(Slade), gee I can't think of more just off the top of my head right now you have already listed most of the people I would have mentioned, and Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Louie Armstrong should all be on that list not honorable mentions...Like Michael Jackson has a more voice unique voice than any of these people???

Chester Bennington. He suffered with that voice. He had incredible pain and was sick but he gave concerts his all even if he had to run backstage to vomit. He could scream one second and then sing beautifully. RIP...I was convinced as a teen that I was gonna marry him lol..
