I agree with what you said, the only thing I would add is to keep the music to YOUR campsite level. I don't want a campsite DJ. I go camping to get away from those people in the city. And turn off your music if you leave.

Great tips, guys. That was really well done. One thing I can add is to make sure you keep your vehicle away from the campground road in front of your site. We’ve been to a few wooded campgrounds where the neighbors across the road had their vehicle right on the edge of the road and it restricts your ability to swing your tow vehicle while trying to back into your site.

It’s amazing how many people don’t pick up poop. Last weekend, had a space on the end of a row with a lot of grass, and we watched a dozen dogs drop landmines through the window as the owners walked away. We started handing out bags!

People parking their vehicle basically in the road causing issues with parking your RV or even driving through.. at Disney Fort Wilderness we had to ask them to please move their car so we could have room to back in. They reluctantly did but as soon as we got past that point backing in, they immediately moved it back. Mind you they had plenty of room to have been off the road, while we parked sideways to make sure our truck front end was well away from the edge. Great point on the water spigot, oh my!!

Yes that’s so frustrating! I get we’re all crammed into small spaces but creeping over on others space or the public area is unnecessary!

When things like this happen one should notify the camp host or owner. I am certain that the hosts at the Disney Resort would have done something about this rude neighbor.

YES! I agree with so many (if not all) of your “rules” for camping. Campsite cut-throughs is one of the most irritating things ever. The worst we ever experienced with that was at the Port Huron KOA in Michigan and our site was the shortcut for an entire family there for a reunion the same weekend as us. Even with us rigging up our patio furniture in a way we thought that said, “hey maybe this is a site” and just became the obstacle challenge of the cut-through! I actually was starting to think about rigging booby traps.
@Seareay1
@Seareay1 5 лет назад
You guys hit the nail on the head with all of these unwritten"rules." Shortly after we got our MH (new, not used) we were at a local park and this family with 6 kids comes in in a pretty beat up MH. All the kids but the toddler are riding their bikes through everyone else's campsite. They had the nerve to ride right next to our steps. We asked them to stop... they didn't. So we moved our truck so close to the MH they couldn't fit through anymore. Then, when the family left, they also left their trash all over the ground. So we picked it up. This past weekend we were at our favorite National Forest campground and noticed right off that speed bumps had been installed over the winter because people drive too fast through there and there are too many blind curves. And when we got to our site the last people left plastic bottle caps in the fire ring. It's things like this that ruin it for the rest of us. Another pet peeve is people who bring their dogs and let them bark all day.
@GetawayCouple

Glad to hear you agree! That’s so annoying about your neighbors, it’s people like that who will end up ruining it for the rest of us. Big kudos to you for cleaning up after them 👍🏼

Nothing unsanitary about wildlife getting a drink from the spigot. But if it freaks you out wipe it down with bleach wipes, or pour bleach water over it.
@edevos3108
@edevos3108 3 года назад
What we usually do spray it down thoroughly with full-strength bleach, let that stand a minute and then rinse with clean water. We also spray down the picnic table and benches with bleach, rinse them with water and I always use a table cloth (vinyl) and bench covers. We have seen some pretty nasty things left on picnic tables (used diapers, for example) and there are videos of people leaving their black water hoses on picnic tables to dry as well.

I completely agree with your assessment of strangers wanting to help. I have been towing trailers of all sizes since I could drive (22 years now) so I definitely know what I am doing. However, I actually like it when people come out and stand by their rigs cause we are all human and mistakes happen to even the most experienced. Also, not all campgrounds are the same so having extra eyes is always helpful. Just appreciate it when they keep quiet until there is a potential problem. Really enjoying all your videos!!

Omg, we are so guilty of breaking some of those rules especially on our first year of rving. I remember the very first place we camped with our rv was in the Fl Keys. The place was beautiful, we was in a area of the rv resort that had mostly Class A and very expensive fifth wheel campers. We had a new but "affordable" (cheap) travel trailer. On our last morning we hooked up at 5am to get a early start. Yes I am guilty of using power tools at that hour to raise jacks and making noise. Knowing all that stuff now we feel so bad for our neighbors. If any of them are following you and see my comment we are so so sorry...☺️ Love your videos, happy camping and safe travels 😎

Amen as to leashing your dogs and walking thru sites. Last weekend there was a group of people in the campground who were not leashing their dogs our dogs were sleeping, minding their own business when a dog came trotting right up to them...dog fight ensued. Fortunately, we were able to get ours under control but, they made no effort to remove her dog from our lot we had to yell at her, over the barking growling dogs. We saw them invading other lots and eventually mentioned it to the manager who dealt with it. People cutting through our lots UGH...bad enough without dogs, but, they understand that this is THEIR lot....they will go nuts. Funny that you did this video because last Mondays FB page was griping about this issue.

Love this video! Don’t feel as if you can’t address the problems with kids because you aren’t parents yet. We camped because it was a great family activity, but it did not give us the right to turn our kids loose unsupervised. I have issues with kids riding bikes or doing other activities with no parent in sight. Kids don’t sense danger or understand camp etiquette the way an adult does. It can be a huge issue, when you are a parent it is a 24 hour a day job.

It seems weird to me to have to say that people shouldn't walk through your campsite, but I've had it happen! I don't get why anyone would think it's okay to get into another person's space like that. To me, it's kinda like walking into someone's house without knocking. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels that way. Thanks for the video!

#8 is one of the reasons I try to avoid sewer sites altogether. That, plus sewer sites often mean your sewer hookup is right next to the next family's picnic table. Also, many of these aren't unspoken rules, they are actual rules at most campgrounds. Many people fail to read them, or don't respect them enough to follow them.
@byrongrover5286
@byrongrover5286 2 года назад
That's why we try to never dump tanks at a campground. I put a sewer dump station at home so we can just pull up and dump our tanks at home. Od course it helps to have large tanks on the motorhome so we don't need to dump while camping

You guys and your points are ..."Spot On". Somehow print some T-Shirts, cards or something and get the campgrounds to give them out. We have all seen people do all of these items with little or no regard to the respect of others. Wether that be kids, dogs, private space, noisy vehicles or people etc. We all have our pet peeves and as such we are all much the same on that matter, we will always find something that bothers us. The biggest point is, have respect for others and they will for you! Again all very good points.

Great video! One other camping etiquette issue we just experienced last week was other people leaving out food or dirty cooking utensils at their camp site. This attracted a bear to the campground who kept returning to the area even after the offending camper left the campground. We had to be on the lookout for the bear 😮 for the rest of our stay, and ultimately the conservation officer had to be called in to likely trap the bear and relocate it to another area. This was not the bears fault and could have been avoided if the campers had followed the wildlife rules. It was unfortunate!!

I like the video, I enjoyed the caveats and explanations you gave for the things. If there was a better understanding of "respect" and "common sense" in general a lot of these things COULD remain unspoken. On the kid comment I like that you stated the word "annoyance." Camping should be a family event! But, on that note it is also about teaching kids to be respectful of others and following rules so everyone can enjoy their camping experience. Kids should be allowed to run, play, yell, scream, giggle and laugh loudly...in the appropriate areas (not other people's campsites) and at appropriate times (not during quiet hours). LOL I recently had my first experience with a gaggle of children while walking my dog at a campground. At the first pass they asked, "Can I pet your dog?" and I said yes and it was a great moment for all. On the loop back they gathered around again and one of the fathers in the group chided his daughter for not "asking first". I told him, "It's okay she did ask the first time we came by." It was a good experience on both sides.

As to kids, sure, they should be having fun, but I didn't, take them to raise...their parents did. So I don't feel I should suffer their out of control behavior while the parents just ignore it. "Kids will be kids" is not an excuse for bad behavior around other people. It's usually that sort of bad parenting that leads to such behavior. When my son was young he would never have exhibited the wild behavior we run across the days in campgrounds. And he had PLENTY of fun while still being mindful of others.

I always hate when MethHeads are camping next to you and they sneak over at night to steal your generator and since you have security cameras on your RV you catch them in the act which requires you to go outside and break their arms and legs with a baseball bat, then you kinda freak out at what you just did and end up dragging them over to a ditch and dumping them in there...You try to go back to sleep but your paranoid that you might go to jail so you end up leaving the area and end up sleeping in a Walmart parking lot...Or so I've heard.

5:00 Just an FYI: Geese and other large birds have poop that looks similar to dog poop. If you have a campsite, especially near the water, that has a surprising amount of 'dog poop', it's probably goose poop from them hanging out in that area.

Good video ! I agree with all of them .... Jordan Lake in Nc tells campers that the access to the lake will have people walking thru each other’s areas and that the property doesn’t belong to individuals and to be aware that it’s ok for people to walk thru your sites .... weird but there are exceptions...

This is true but it kind of depends on which site you choose also. We chose one off the beaten path where our daughter chose one next to the water.

Love the bloopers. You guys crack me up. I agree with the rules. Camp fire and sewer hose are two I never thought of and am surprised people do that. Wow. I guess we will see when we get on the road. I hope not though. Yuck. Take care! 😊☀️

We have been to a lot of camp grounds and noticed the dog thing is a big one for us. Our dog is not friendly with other dogs. People yes but dogs no. They say oh he is friendly but my dog wants to have their dog for lunch. It is so annoying. And we see all these people letting their dogs run loose. And the poop yes I have picked up other people’s dog poop several times simply because I don’t want my dog going over to it. These are the two big ones for us.

Great video. Etiquette and common sense are lacking badly. The "Rules" may be unspoken, kind of like the code in Pirates of the Caribbean. They are "Guidelines" which you abide by If you are a "Pirate". Many campers do respect the "rules". It is the ones that don't, that really do ruin a good experience. "Leave No Trace" is what people should really practice. No trash, No poop, No evidence of anyone or thing having been present. Believe it or not when you reserve that spot and spend your hard earned folding money, it is a legal binding contract, just like a lease on any property. Everyone just needs to enjoy what we have been offered to enjoy. You all keep the Great videos coming. You all be safe. Safe travels. Later.

Great guidelines! But, generally, those whom are respectful, will continue to be respectful. Those whom are ignorant, will continue to be ignorant. Hopefully, there are some, new to camping, who really want to do the right thing and will learn from this.

good points. just like your #6 point of respecting others wishes - you are not in a position to comment on how any parent should be parenting their kid, until you're a parent. It's easy to throw punches from the other side.

It would be nice if the campgrounds posts these "etiquette rules" in the office or a sheet added to the other paperwork they give you at check in.

What's really wild is people breaking all of these rules when boondocking... There could be thousand of acres available for camping and they'll still try to camp right on top of you and then proceed to break all of these rules...

Oh, as for the sewer hose thing, it's not that egregious to use the spigot to rinse out your sewer hose HOWEVER, clean up after yourself and don't put the dang thing right up to the spigot. This is why I ALWAYS spray the spigot with Lysol before hooking up. I don't do this because the last thing I do before unhooking and leaving is do a black tank clean so by the time I unhook there is clean(er) water coming from my black tank(I take about an hour or so with the black tank cleaner running) so it's already rinsed by the time I unhook.

I hate when campgrounds allow new campers to set up after quiet hours. I know there are times when traffic problems or breakdowns may make it difficult to get in as planned but after a certain time, campers should be considerate enough to go to a hotel. We had several bad experiences with this while tent camping but the worst one occurred late one night after we had just fallen asleep. It was after midnight and we were awakened by red lights shining in our tent. My initial thought was that someone was going to back right into us. The site behind us, which had been vacant all week, was now occupied by two very loud women who would go on to set up their campsite, loudly barking orders to each other, for the next hour+. The campground should not have allowed this but as it was a state park, there was no one there to enforce it.

Along with #7, how do you define "your space" that you believe you have rented? For example, rv pad to rv pad?
@r.michaelwalker1901
@r.michaelwalker1901 5 лет назад
Most "sites" extend beyond just the pad. And it's not to hard to figure out the boundaries, even if they are not clearly marked.

Great list, I have owned diesel trucks for years and it’s better for them to just start and drive. There’s no reason for warming up a diesel, actually it’s hard on a diesel to sit and idle.....Bill

Wrong, if cold a diesel engine needs about five minutes to loosen oil and bring pressures up.
