Really? Some people are complaining The Reapers are number 1? For fucks sake people, like the narrator said; they could obliterate any of the other armies on this list. They wipe out ALL organic life every 50,000 years. Deliberately waiting until they were powerful and at the apex of their civilization and they still stand absolutely no chance. They are well deserving of that spot. However, to Watchmojo, you should have also mentioned they make soldiers out of the races they're fighting. You mentioned they indoctrinate but not that they literally transform the species of the galaxy into their own soldiers.

SpartanTeamLogic I honestly don't know what the Forerunner army is. But I doubt they can beat an almost indestructible army. To put it into perspective of how powerful a single Reaper is: In Mass Effect 1 it took the Turian Citadel defence fleet, the Destiny Ascension (a fuck of huge dreadnaught) and the Alliance 5th Fleet to take on Sovereign. That's ONE Reaper. The Reaper galactic invasion fleet has thousands at least (we never get an exact number). These Reapers have wiped out all life time and time again, including the hugely powerful Prothean Empire.... I doubt any other army could beat that. Not even the "Forerunner Army"

The reapers wouldn't have a hope in hell against the covenant, the covvies have 27km long super carriers with massive fuckoff plasma cannons and shields and a 318km wide superstation against the reapers? Yeah if they turned up in mass effect they'd have glassed half the Galaxy by the time shepard amounted a fleet strong enough to take out half of a small fleet
@mini2239

Harry Morris It's the rapers their talking about the mass effect galatic forces they were talking about the reapers. I've never played Halo but the Galatic forces in Mass Effect were barely enough to take down one. And I'm guessing their ships are pretty similar to the covent so theywould also have difficulty taking down one. And I doubt they have a crucible. (sorry for bad spelling)

The Reapers have hundreds of ships that are between 100m-3km in length, and their strongest weapons are those red lasers, small fighters, their "arms" and indoctrination, and they need the fixed Mass Relays to travel around the galaxy. The Covenant have uncountable fleets of ships, smallest between 2km-5km, medium between 6km-8km, and their largest juggernauts 25km-30km in length. They also have space stations, 360km in length. They are armed with plasma torpedoes, lasers, bombs that can destroy a planet in an instant, countless fighters, etc. They also have forcefields that shield them from any enemy fire. They also are not restricted by fixed Mass Relays, and can travel anywhere in the universe with their slipspace engines, which are so advanced that they can "jump" with pin-point accuracy, and with unimaginable speeds. It is true the entire galaxy is needed to bring down The Reapers, but in Halo The Covenant rules the entirety of the galaxy, save Earth. They have no adversaries at all who could undermine their might in naval or land power, except themselves. The Covenant is a lot stronger than The Reapers, WatchMojo.com *EDIT:* I will add all the large responses I've written in this ''thread'' underneath this main post, to centralise all my arguments into one message. *Addition I: response to* +shpekovsalam Alright, I hope you are ready for some reading. First off, the fact that the Covenant are a collection of organic races does not matter at all. The Reapers, in the end, were defeated by organics, and, for example, Sovereign was also defeated by organics. The Covenant already have one gigantic significant advantage over the Reapers to begin with; slip-space engines. This means that entire Covenant fleets are able to appear from any direction, out of nowhere, for disastrous ambushes. It also means that individual Covenant ships, or even entire fleets, can use short-term slip-space jumps to evade any projectiles or weapons fired at them, and appear again behind the enemy for a lethal attack in the rear or flanks. The Covenant ships can literally go anywhere in the galaxy at will, at unprecedented speeds. This alone, in warfare, is a winning factor; The Covenant have the almost godlike ability to determine where battle will take place. Next, weaponry; The Covenant Navy has 3 types of weapons present on starships. The most basic and numerous weapon is the ''pulse laser turret'', which acts as a ship-to-ship and point-defense turret against fighters. It fires either a deathly dose of plasma per time, or a single stream, varying per type. The PLT is known to melt through 45cm of UNSC titanium-A armour in one single shot, and can make grated cheese of UNSC ships within minutes. Next is the ''plasma torpedo'', which is a big ball of heated plasma that hits a target with pin-point accuracy. These torpedoes blast through basically any UNSC ship, obliterating ships 2km long from bow to stern with a single shot. The last and most powerful weapon is the ''energy projector''. It fires a thin beam of energized matter which has an effective range of 100.000km, and is extremely accurate and destructive, capable of destroying ships effortlessly and used for "glassing" planets; burning the surface until it's glass, systematically rendering them sterile and incapable of sustaining life. If your ship is hit by one of these, even if it's a Covenant ship itself, it will render your ship destroyed in an instant. You can imagine utilising all these weapons at once will be a deathly cocktail of destruction to any who oppose the Covenant. To come back to the glassing; When glassing a planet, the beam causes atmospheric and biospheric destruction by exciting the atoms in the air, thus scorching land and air life, and evaporating water with ease, suffocating aquatic life and destabilizing the planet's surface temperature. Therefore, merely firing it through the air would cause biospheric destruction on a planetary scale. In addition, the excitement of atoms could chemically alter the atmosphere or even blow it away. And finally, coming to protection. All Covenant vessels (starships) are protected by highly resistant energy shields. These shields can take vast amounts of punishment, and recharge very quickly. Covenant shields can absorb practically all missile fire, including hundreds of Archer Missiles and even a nuclear missile. The only UNSC weapon capable of penetrating a Covenant Starship's shield is a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, but even then, ship based MAC cannons take multiple shots to crack the starship's shields. Only a "Super MAC" used by large stationary Orbital Defence Platforms has enough kinetic energy to penetrate a Covenant ship's shield in one single hit. But, then again, these ''Super Macs'' are only found around significant planets, such as Earth or Reach, and both got overrun by the Covenant with relative ease. Then there's the fact that Covenant ships can carry hundreds of fighters, numerous troops, lots of drop ships, weaponry, armoured vehicles and equipment. All large Covenant vessels also have a gravity lift, which means that Covenant ships don't even have to land on the surface itself, something the Reapers do have to do. The gravity lift, in combination with drop ships and use of countless ''drop pods'' - which launch one soldier per pod to the surface - will render even a small Covenant vessel of 2km-5km in length capable to conquer a large city. Notwithstanding the fact that the Covenant even have technology that is capable of cloaking a 30km long flagship, making it invisible. *Addition II: response to* +TheDuckClock The Council races don't have the technology of the Covenant, hence why they fought so long, with so much losses to bring down one Reaper. ;) ''The Reapers also have FTL capabilities to match the Covenant's Slip space technology, Hell they have the collective knowledge of every single advanced civilization that came before us, which means they have the technical and scientific knowledge on EVERYTHING.'' I was more looking on the direct advantages and disadvantages of the two, not necessarily integrating the entire universe into the universe of Mass Effect, that would be impossible and paradoxical. The Covenant also has normal FTL capabilities, but slip-space is not FTL; slip-space is, basically, a wormhole that cuts a hole in the fabric of space and time, and so creates a shortcut between two separate locations that would take a very long time to traverse using just FTL travel. The slip-space drive of the Covenant (and UNSC) is essentially a built-in Mass Relay, but instead of being constricted to set destinations, they can use it to travel anywhere. The Reapers are actually at a disadvantage when concerning travel. ''The Covenants weaponry doesn't account for much since the Reapers thanks to their unmatched scientific knowledge have advance Kinetic barriers that even by the estimates you put out would still put the Covenant ships at a disadvantage.Not to mention shields mean nothing to Reaper weapons as the blasts from their Lasers hits at such a relenting force that easily penetrates shields and can easily rip apart any ship in a single hit.'' I have to refute this. What I found from the Mass Effect Codex, is this; ''The shielding afforded by kinetic barriers does not protect against extremes of temperature, toxins, or radiation.'' Covenant plasma weapons, and especially the ''energy projector'' on Covenant vessels create such extreme temperature and radiative levels, they will burn through kinetic barriers with ease. As for defence, the Covenant shields can withstand thousands of missile impacts, several ''MAC'' rounds, and even a nuclear detonation. Especially the latter two create such an extensive temperature, lasers won't even scratch the surface of the Covenant's shields. ''And the reapers have mini fighter probes of their own as well, each one capable of carrying millions, they're extremely nimble and can easily our manoeuvre a Banshee,'' For one, The Covenant doesn't just use banshees for fighter-roles, their main fighters are ''seraphs'', which are quite agile and can move in both vertical and horizontal directions. This is, again, a disadvantage for the Reaper forces, considering the seraph fighters have the same shield technology as the Covenant starships, and also sporting the same plasma weaponry, which will obliterate the Oculi's kinetic barriers - ''Oculus'', plural; ''Oculi'', as the Reaper's fighters are known. I actually have to thank you, because I had to look a bit further into the details of the Reaper forces to react, but it now really seems that the Covenant seems to be at a far superior technological advantage. There would still be the factor that Reapers are, in essence, smart AI's capable of lightning fast decision making and organising, but would this outweigh against the technology of The Covenant? I am afraid it wouldn't make that much of a difference. *Addition III: response to* +Controversial Derp ''And then they are beat by far outclassed and technologically inferior humans and simply implying that the Covenant found an alternate source of stellar travel that was more efficient does not give them military superiority.'' I'd like to preface with the note that I've been trying to compare the two in terms of strength, technology, capability etc. and not let the story influence the verdict too much. After all, in the end both are defeated by plot elements. In military terms and strategy, having the upper hand in movement and the privilege to be able to decide when and where a battle will take place, and even be able to alter the battle during its duration, is already virtually half the battle won. The Covenant will have all the advantages above with their technologically more capable slip-space drive, than the Reapers with their FTL drive. The Covenant can ambush the Reapers, they can lure them into a trap, then can engage head on and then engage in a short slip-space jump to appear at their rear, etc. They will have the upper hand in movement, and weaponry and shielding aside, that is already a major advantage to The Covenant. ''I'd also like to point out that size means jack shit with interstellar war ships.'' I'd have to agree that with our current technology and strategic air power, large battleships such as the Yamato, Bismarck, Iowa-class, etc. are all practically obsolete, due to their size and impracticality. In the world of science-fiction, however, the cards lay differently on the table. Let's take the Covenant super carrier as example; seemingly the pinnacle of impracticality with its sheer size of nearly 30km in length, and it would by today's standards be viewed as a vessel that is ripe for being broken into two pieces like a twig. The Covenant super carrier is not just a star ship with the capability of destroying entire fleets of UNSC ships or to level an entire metropolis, such as New Mombasa, it's also ''flying city'' with its own society and culture. It serves as an aircraft carrier, in today's standards, which has the capability of defending itself with hundreds upon hundreds of fighters, and serves as transport for the Covenant Army's ground troops that have the task of capturing planets. The sheer size of the Covenant super carrier also means a gigantic surface on which weapons can be mounted, the main reason why battleships in the past have been so gigantic in size. But unlike the navies of our present, which are now limited in size due to advances in technology and air power, and the limiting factor that is the size of our planet, the Covenant super carrier would not be restricted by this. Because the CSC has to roam the endless voids of space, unlike the finite expanses of our oceans. Differences in armour and materials also plays a crucial factor, seeing how a CSC has the structural integrity to remain intact with the sheer size of nearly 30km, even in orbit. The Covenant vessels can also remain intact after a large nuclear device has detonated on the surface of its shields, unlike today's battleships, which will be crippled to a a mere pulp. In short, a CSC serves both as naval vessel to combat an enemy, but also as home to hundreds of thousands of Covenant soldiers, NCO's, non-combatants etc. in the vast reaches of space. ''The Reapers deserved their spot on the list as number 1 in not only their power compared to others on the list but also the position they maintained in their respective universe where they were by all means the Apocalypse, and had made themselves the ultimate power in the Galaxy.'' The Covenant were respectively exactly this in the Halo universe. In fact, even more individuals than in the Mass Effect universe were frightened, because the UNSC didn't censor the Covenant away as a hoax, as the Council did with The Reapers. If we are discussing ''fear factor'', The Covenant even wins in that aspect. *Addition IV: response to* +Artorias X ''The Covenant were just there, just a villain and their army had small scared aliens that run away once their captain died and that took a lot of fear away from them. They were powerful but they seemed beatable, nothing to fear.'' The Covenant isn't just a cliché and uninteresting villain; it is a complex theocratic ''federation'' with several races, each with its own distinct history, capabilities, political views and culture, that make up the Covenant. I am not going into the history of each reach, I would happily redirect you to the Halopedia to read more about it, because the story behind the Covenant is not just a collection of dumb aliens that kill. As for fear; The entire human race was frightened beyond measure of the Covenant technology (including ships, vehicles, equipment, weapons, etc.) and the Covenant forces, whom were aliens unknown to them. They spoke incomprehensible languages, used weapons beyond our wildest dreams, had appearances that would fright even the bravest of man, and - such as the Elites or Hunters - were so physically fit, tall in stature and menacing in looks, it would strike fear in the hearts of every single human being. It is true that the Grunts were used as cannon fodder, and would usually scatter and squeal when their leader was killed, but the rest of the races were not easily frightened, not even at the sight of ''Demon'', standing vast and courageous with the goal to depose of him and bring honour to the Covenant.

You are wrong on so many levels, it's unbelievable. First, The Reapers aren't hundreds! WatchMojo did make a mistake saying they are million years old. They were at least a billion years old. They harvest civilizations each 50,000 years. They make 1 Capital Ship of the most powerful race and countless other ships from the lesser ones. That results in at least 20,000 Capital Ships and and who knows how many other ships. The little fighters are beyond countable as well. That "red laser" you dismissed so easily is actually a beam of molten metal accelerated at a fraction of the speed of light. That results in an unimaginable destructive power that no shields can stop it. Also, they have extremely powerful kinetic barriers. So poweful, it took whole fleets to kill just one of them. By the means of indoctrination, they can convert as many of their organic enemies as they want and use them as sleeper agents, cannon fodder, agents. They can also inject small nanites in organic beings, both living and dead and use them as foot soldiers that feel no remorse or fear or the need be sustained. And while they use the Mass Relays to travel around fast, they can do it without them. However, The Reapers are extremely intelligent machines and it would take them very little time to understand The Covenant technology and incorporate it in their own design. Also, they don't have a home planet The Covenant can target. The Reapers can however target the homeworlds of the races that make up The Covenant. In my opinion, The Reaper army is the most perfect force that could exist. They are extremely inteligent machines devoid of any feelings. They do not age, do not get will, they don't have the biological needs of organics. Add to that their overwhelming powers and influence on organic minds and you'll get the whole picture.

The foot-soldiers are. The aliens conscript those they take over into their army, humans being the newest addition. The soldiers you see are "trans-human soldiers" or humans that were turned into cyborgs and conscripted into the combine army. You'll notice the big "machines" you fight are actually just large alien life-forms that were also likely conscripted and turned into cyborgs. The striders, for example, if you look closely are very organic.
@sovereign9645
@sovereign9645 9 лет назад
The plural for for Combine is "Combine" why does everyone make that mistake? Not to jump down your throat or anything but I have seen a lot of people make that error and it just bugs me since the word "combines" is never used at all in the games. Oh and as Adam said there cyborgs, metrocops are human but everything else (soldiers, striders, hunters, gunships etc.) are all synthetic or synths for short (non-organic lifeforms). The Combine Empire is a interdimensional force that controls many races, like the covenant but they control multiple universes (millions of galaxies) rather then just one galaxy.

I have to disagree on the Reapers. The Covenant would easily defeat them, due to their use of plasma and laser weapons, and slipspace giving them tactical supremacy. And their were countless Covenant ships at the height of their power, in comparison to the Reapers 20,000 ships at their disposal. For anyone who disagrees, the Kinetic Barriers of the Reapers, while extremely strong in comparison to the Citadel Races, they would do nothing to the energy weapons of the covenant, of which they have plasma cannons and other variations, with their most powerful plasma weapon being plasma torpedoes, which can track and follow targets. They also have pulse lasers, which have much more range and power than the Mass Effect version. And then there's the energy projector, which fires a tight beam of high energy particles at the speed of light, and would probably destroy several Reapers in one shot. As far as the Reapers go, they might be able to win on the ground, but in space, being limited to the Relays for their fastest mode of transportation lacking a energy weapon of their own, the Covenant win. And yes, I know that they have a traditional for of FTL, but its slower and less reliable than slipspace over long distances, and they have to bleed off the static build up over continued uses. The reapers particle beams, which are actually streams of molten metal fired at the speed of light, might do a considerable amount of damage, it would mostly require multiple shots to disable a Shielded Covenant ship, where as the Covenant could just one shot the Reapers. The shields of the Covenant block all forms of damage, where as the Reapers Kinetic barrier only block ballistic weapons, and wouldn't even slow down the Covies energy weapons. I figure I've said enough, but try and disprove me if you feel like it.
@horusrage
@horusrage 9 лет назад
Siphon Rayzar Remember the Reapers send a vanguard to preindoctrinate and get their own people to follow first. Indoctrination would be an issue for the Covenant. They have no defense for that. Add to the husks and conversion based armies they could field. Hull composition of reapers is also unknown it is possible it is designed to refract some of the energy away. Combined knowledge of all organic predecessor races would also play a factor if they are from the same galaxy as the covenant then they would be aware of them as they advanced. Molten metal and plasma is a very small distinction plasma is an ionized gas. It is possible that these have to comparative states interms of damage. Given the fact that one is near the speed of light and the other is superheated by nature. Protheans had smaller arm beam weapons its logical to presume like the Asari (for example a thanix cannon) they had larger versions which means that if made along laser principles they may have been encountered before. You are right multiple may be needed to destroy a covenant capital ship but the need to destroy them may not be necessary in the face of disabling. Where as in the case of a reaper the opposite is true as we see in cinematic some of them being damaged heavily and still fighting. Each reaper is capable of FTL flight on their own but the mass effect relays just make them more efficient. Even if the covenant targeted them the explosion from a relay was singularly devastating. While no doubt both fleets would be able to do significant devastation. The mechanical nature and assimilation abilities of the reapers give them a distinct advantage over Covenant. Add to that they can always assimilate another space fairing race first like they did with the Batarians.
@SiphonRayzar
@SiphonRayzar 9 лет назад
horusrage True true, but you forget that all of the races the Reapers had assimilated over each cycle all were relatively the same as far as technology goes. All races in the ME universe all originate in and around the Citadel and the mass relays, meaning that none of them every adapted newer and possibly more powerful technologies. And while the reapers do have a conventional FTL, they still have to bleed off static build up in the atmosphere of other planets and such. But, I think that if the covenant could get around the indoctrination problem, they would most likely win imo. But, it would be one hell of a fight either way.
@horusrage
@horusrage 9 лет назад
Siphon Rayzar Thats for the majority of cycles but the first cycle would have had unique technology different then what we see when the relays were introduced. Also just because they took some of the aspects of the relay technology does not mean they wouldn't have gained advanced technology that was different in each cycle. Think about it a race like the Protheans developed the memory shards because of an evolutionary component. Perhaps others in previous cycles developed original technology as well. After all they do say that the crucible design has been improved through each cycle. Indicating that there is a difference in technology per cycle and potential uniqueness. True but that would only be applicable when they need to bleed it off plus considering that they are the origin in some ways of the relays it is possible that the static build up issue may have been lessened as knowledge has been added. How though? A variety of species that makes up the covenant and its centralised authority structure would argue for an easier way to break down tactical superority they may have. After all they did the same with the citadel for the protheans. Totally but when it comes to a fight of attrition in this case the advantage has to be given to the one that can replenish the numbers faster. In the case of the reapers they have an advantage in that regard being mechanical. Which allows for reinforcement faster. Its very much like in fantasy facing off against an undead army every fallen warrior strengthens the opposing side and weakens your own.
@SiphonRayzar
@SiphonRayzar 9 лет назад
horusrage Good points. Talking about their weapons, the Citadel made their own version of the reapers weapon, the Thanix Cannon. It was still relatively ineffective against the Reapers, meaning its still a ballistic weapon. The Covenants plasma weapons could just blast through the Kinetic Barriers, which provide no defense against energy weapons. And the Energy projector would most likely just eviscerate them. But in the end, it doesn't really matter, I still think the Covenant would win, but we're each entitled to our opinions. Peace out.
@horusrage
@horusrage 9 лет назад
Siphon Rayzar Right because the kinetic barrier is set up for a speed countering component. I think in the case of the covenants plasma weapons you would still have the same issue but it could cause a little more damage. Given it is still a plasma thing traveling at speed which is right in kinetic barriers wheel house. Speed would be taken care off that just leaves the heat. Which is where i argued the composition of the hull component. Regarding thickness and properties. With speed of it being negated the impact would have been lessened enough. Don't get me wrong I am not saying the covenant can't do damage I am just questioning how effective that damage would be. Nah it doesn't really matter. As I said I think the Reapers would win given how they deal with an extinction cycle. And that every victory would afford them an opportunity to replenish their numbers more and more. While the covenants dwindle.

@Vanadium
@Vanadium 9 лет назад
not really right, Silmarillion is the last book who was written by Tolkien and only get released by his son who finished it. LotR was released before Silmarillion. The first book Hobbit showed us Orks first. But in the Hobbit they are not really good described and we only saw a few of them. If we speak about the chronological story timeline your right Silmarillion, then Hobbit and the last one is Lord of the Rings. But Tolkien was sure influenced by the old mythologies about Orks. Like much anything else, Tolkien recreate his creatures/things and took the ideas from old Norse/Germanic mythology. Oldest tales about Orks come from the Germanic mythology but they are very different to Warcraft and Warhammer Orks.
@DarkLordOfSweden

Vanadium you are correct mostly, but the Silmarillion was the first book, Tolkien began writing it long before the LotR series but never felt satisfied with the result, so he never released it and worked on it until his death. and the last book that was released was actually The Children of Húrin =P excuse my nerdiness =P

@HaussPray
@HaussPray 9 лет назад
TheJayson8899 The Forerunners were the builders of the Halo Array and it's their artifacts that form the center of The Covenant's religion. In the Forerunner Saga books (which detail the Fall of the Forerunners to the Flood) it becomes known that the Forerunners and Humans were created by the Precursors to take their place in the galaxy. At the peak of their power, (about 100,000 years before the present day) Humans encountered the first Flood spores on the rim of the galaxy but were unable to control it, thus releasing the Flood upon the galaxy. While running from the Flood (which at the time no other race in the galaxy knew about) the Forerunners took it as a sign of aggression and engaged humanity in what would be the greatest war either race had ever fought, but Humans were fighting two fronts (the Flood on one side, the Forerunners on the other). In the end, humanity lost to the Forerunners (but did manage to escape the Flood). As punishment for their crimes, the Forerunners reversed the evolution of humanity, reducing them to little more then animals (over the next 100,000 years, humanity would evolve into what it is today) and isolated to a single planet (what is now Earth). However, during the war, the Forerunners did come to learn that Humans were running from a horrifying parasite they called The Flood. So in preparation, the Forerunners built 12 Halo Installations and 2 Arks (to serve as both control for the Halo Array and as a vault for the various lifeforms around the galaxy to repopulate) in addition to a number of shield worlds (such as Onyx and Requiem) in as a last resort to wipe out all sentient life in the galaxy (The Flood's food source). But, everything didn't go according to plan. The Forerunner AI, Mendicant Bias (the AI commanding the Forerunner's largest battle fleet) was the first of among the Forerunners to encounter The Flood. It wound up spending about 50 years talking to the Gravemind (the central hive mind controlling the flood) eventually being convinced that The Flood are doing what's right in the galaxy. Mendicant Bias then took his fleet and attacked the Forerunner homeworld where the Halo Installations were in orbit at the time. 5 of the 12 Halo rings were destroyed before the remaining 7 (1 of which being badly damaged) escaped through slip space to their respective destinations. In response (and out of options), the Forerunners sent Offensive Bias to fight Mendicant Bias (though with far fewer ships available) and then fired the Halo Array to even the odds for Offensive Bias (but the Forerunners didn't have the chance get to their shield worlds). The Halo rings killed all sentient life within their blast radius (which was less space with the loss of 5 rings) effectively stopping the Flood's progression through the galaxy. Being in one of the few areas in the galaxy where the weakened Halo Array couldn't reach, humanity survived on Earth. Thus paving the way for the rising of the Covenant. Now we get to the current timeline, where the Covenant first encounter Humanity and the Forerunner AI they have in their possession reacts to the Humans in the same way as it reacts Forerunner technology. The Covenant Hierarchs fear this would drive the Covenant apart, so they declare humanity's very existance a blasphemy and thus start a holy war against humans. TL;DR: The Precursors are to the Forerunners what the Forerunners are to The Covenant. Aka - Gods.
@AlexGellel
@AlexGellel 9 лет назад
Whilst I agree, the Precursors in Halo canon would smash, as would the Forerunners. But TECHNICALLY they don't appear in the games in that sense. The precursors themselves do appear in the form of the flood, but they don't really count as an organised army. As for the Forerunners, all we see of their military prowess IN GAME is a single ship soloing an entire UNSC battle group, an army of mechanised soldiers, and a lot of left over warships and weapons. I agree that they would dominate anyone of this list, but their appearance specifically in game isn't enough to warrant their appearance on a list of mainstream armies.

Scott Flynn The Enclave, even though once very powerful, were and are the minority in the Fallout universe, they had very little support so they met resistance at every turn, and the only thing really keeping them from being crushed by the outside world is their tech and training. I mentioned CL because they were an army of "89 conquered tribes" and were probably the biggest army ever to grace post apocalyptic North America, and in my opinion, one of the coolest because of their martial society, obsession with destroying weakness and a variety of other things related to their culture. As for the NCR? They are just different than most factions in fallout because, they are not off the wall fucked up or weird,and to our knowledge they were the only real nation that successfully remade something similar to the pre war United States government, using "Old World" democratic values. All 3 factions seem like great picks but I never found the latter two to be uninteresting or unlikable.

Cole Vaughn The only reason the Enclave keep meeting resistance is because the story forces the player character to fight them. In reality they would easily beat any army in the wastes if it wasn't for the player's actions, they have a legion of elite power-armored stormtroopers backed up by military grade robots, mind-controlled deathclaws, squadrons of VTOL gunships and orbital missile launchers. I just find NCR and CL to be boring and weak by comparison, no offence.

Cole Vaughn your description of the NCR shows why there the most fucked up of all the factions unlike the others they learnt nothing from the apocalypse and would just lead to history repeating itself plus they can be quite imperialistic in a sense as they just constantly annex territory from people and many of there people are quite cruel and ruthless to the smaller factions

"Half-Life Series- 2004-2007"? You mean '98 to '07. Do your research. Also, the Zerg aren't actually a "military" so much as a race, so do they count? Not to mention that they're a ripoff of the Tyranids from Warhammer 40,000 (Fun fact: Blizzard wanted to do a game on Warhammer 40K... and got into the making it, before they were told "no". So they made it anyway and changed the names). Also, XCOM was more than just one game...

@ironpunch22 9 лет назад
Well, i guess that you can't compare an unorganized group of brutal murderers, that only use melee weapons, to a fucking army full of advance technology, long-ranged weapons, and a large amount of people (of course, i'm not counting the players in WoW as part of the army, since they don't affect the lore whatsoever)
@kryskiller666
@kryskiller666 9 лет назад
Dhenox312 Brutal murderers? They got both amazing offensive and defensive magic, and not all of them are crazied barbarians. Look at Cairne Bloodhoof, for example. He's one of the strongest heroes in the game, but also shows kindness for the horde and his people, and seems to be quite smart. Or what about Rexxar? He doesn't rely on strenght, but rather in teamwork. And the...What where they called, Blademasters? Forgot it, but they use magic to turn invisible, and instead of brute force, they use stealth to take their foes instantly and one by one. Sorry, but I played too much Warcraft III to not understand the horde. One question, though. In the Warcraft III Frozen Throne extra story, the Rexxar one...The Pandarean joins Rexxar into battle. Is it cannon to say that he's part of the Horde? I'm not talking about the whole Pandarean race, just that guy. He was kickass, had some hillarious quotes, was quite powerful, and inspired one of the best Dota heroes (god damn pandas are powerful as fuck), it sure fits with them...
@tavocholo18
@tavocholo18 9 лет назад
BadassFreeman In WoW you can choose the side you will fight for as a pandarean because is a neutral race, so it can be said that he's part of the horde I think, just in kind of the same position as rexar. I have never played WoW though, only the warcraft III masterpiece...best game ever for me, which iniciated my favorite moba too.
@ironpunch22
@ironpunch22 9 лет назад
BadassFreeman By "Brutal murderers" i don't mean mindless muscle-bags, i just said that because the Horde is most known for being the attacking side in the fight, while the Alliance tries to stay inside their cities crying, on the other side, my point still stands, that they would be outnumbered, and probably (because war changes over time) outsmarted, not saying that the Horde is full of stupid orcs and taurens and whatever, because that's not true, but yeah, agaisnt super technologicaly advanced Nazis, they would probably fall really quickly
@kryskiller666
@kryskiller666 9 лет назад
Dhenox312 Actually, most of the time it's the reverse thing: Most non-human races united to live in peace, when faced with the humans, and later on, the undead menace. For example, in Warcraft III, they're trying to cross the sea to live in peace, away from them. Sadly, the humans ended up there too for their own reasons, but the horde stood there later on, to cut their relations with the humans. The "horde" didn't really start the fight. Humans did want to kill the Legion, or whatever it was called, but the "Green orcs" are not the ones in the Legion, those were Red, and those obey other people. Just like people in real life, the Horde and the Alliance fight each other for forgotten reasons, but in this case, the Horde does not desire to keep it up.

@psycho6776 9 лет назад
0TheOgreKing0 Using strongest army is pretty weak because the combine are probably the strongest here, being a multidimensional T4 empire yet we don't know how powerful they truly are but if their capable of multidimensional manipulation then as a whole, they must be strong. Hell the zerg could probably beat the reapers like the orks from 40k, you can't truly wipe them out. Compared to other sci-fi universes, the reapers are absolute pussies, they harvest and kill weak races, not powerful ones. Try putting them up against the Imperium of Man from 40k and you would end up with the IoM being able to crush them without even using 1% of their entire forces. In fact, IoM alone would be able to defeat every single army on this list combined with almost no effort excluding the combine although that's hard to know. Sorry but people who think reapers are powerful make me laugh.

The Covenant would annihilate the Reapers. The Reapers use kinetic barriers which do fuck all against plasma weapons which the Covenant almost exclusively use. The Reapers are also limited to either using Mass Relays or going at a puny 30 LY a day at FTL without them. The Covenant on the other hand can use slipspace to go up to 912 LY per day and completely bypass Mass Relay chokepoints. Plus the average Covenant Assault Carrier exceeds even Harbinger, the oldest and largest of the Reapers by around 2km. They could just as easily kill them by ramming them.
@rainwhater
@rainwhater 9 лет назад
However, Covvy armor would melt from one of those Lazer blasts. Plus, if plasma went right through a reaper shield, what would stop what are essentially billions of cavitation bubbles (each one hotter than the sun) and W.M.D.s owned by The Alliance (which also couldn't punch through Reaper shields easily)? Face it. Your beloved Covenant would lose in any battle they didn't turn tail and run from.
@Mister_Kourkoutas
@Mister_Kourkoutas 9 лет назад
Nick Rainwater Your Mass Effect knowledge is lacking if you think the Reapers ships are using laser weaponry. Those red beams are actually superluminally accelerated streams of ferrofluid. Essentially molten metal fired at relativistic speed. The Covenant use armor plating based off of highly durable Forerunner alloys and Forerunner derived energy shields. Pale imitations to be sure but still a tough nut to crack as the UNSC found to their dismay during the War. All Covenant/UNSC/Forerunner technology is completely independent of Element Zero and the Mass Effect that is the lynchpin of all Reaper technology. They have advanced outside of the paths that the Reapers engineer for their opponents therefore the Reapers would find it difficult to find an initial advantage in a conflict with the denizens of Halo. Also the only known civilizations of Mass Effect to make use of plasma weaponry with any real success are the Geth and even then at an infantry warfare level. Everyone else including the Geth use kinetic weaponry in the form of mass accelerators for space combat. The Systems Alliance et al have difficulty breaking through Reaper shields because the Reapers use barriers which work well against kinetic weaponry. The only WMD the Alliance have aside from this are aging nukes and highly regulated antimatter warheads which only work well if you get them below the barriers. The UNSC on the other hand could literally run over Harbinger like a truck hitting a deer by ramming the mouthy bastard with all 5.6 km of the Infinity.
@envfirefrost3633
@envfirefrost3633 9 лет назад
Then you realized the Covenant was taken down by 1 guy.
@rainwhater
@rainwhater 9 лет назад
Okay, I do admit I was incorrect in saying that. However, the rounds themselves have been proven to be incredibly hot. Thus, the same principles would apply with plasma, leaving the reapers to come out on top. Either way, if UNSC ships could destroy Covenant ships with kinetic rounds, then so could the reapers. Also, the reapers aren't usually about head-on attacks with massive fleets; that is a worst case scenario. They would steal Covenant and UNSC tech and implement it in their invasions and attempt to indoctrinate as much of each race as they could. In the long-run, the reapers would win on strategy alone. Millions of Covvies died thanks to one man. Imagine what a fundamentally superior race could do to them.
