I agree with Grasshopper, but the thing I remember most about her is her ending. That is easily my favorite ending in all the games. It's just awesome to see Calypso in such a unique and fragile state.
The fun part with Auger's drill is that, when you nail a car, every rear missile blows into the enemy. Using rear Mortars no car other than bosses and Warthog can survive a single drill ride. He is still pretty crappy, but I'd be lying if I didn't have fun one-shotting everyone in a playthrough. Good work on the vid by the way!
While I'll never think that TM3 and TM4 are as bad as people say, I can't deny the fact that they did Mr. Grimm dirty AF in both games. Glad he was brought back to stardom in Black, his special slapped in that game. Good list ❤
If I'm remembering right, you unlock ATV by just beating Cousin Eddy. Personally, I've always seen ATV as being an intentional joke character - someone who's purposely meant to be awful to play as. Like there's a reason you fight FOUR of them during Eddy's boss battle. (And even then it's easy.) Even the character himself seems to be an intentional joke. He's a mush-mouthed idiot sporting a mullet who just wants to get laid. Lmao. So yeah, I reeeeeeally don't think he's meant to be taken seriously in terms of competitive balance. Great list.
Kamikaze actually has *more* armor than Crimson Fury in 2012, although Kamikaze's flamethrower is a little weaker. Also while you were tearing Captain Grimm a new one I'm surprised you didn't even mention that while he has none of Mr. Grimm's usual strengths, he still shares the terrible armor
I prefer using Kamikaze for races and for the final boss. Believe me, the Freeze Shock Alt Special does wonders in the beginning of races when you're surrounded by a bunch of cars.
Captain Grimm's special getting a huge buff in the twisted metal 4 childhood mod is my favorite thing about the mod, because it makes him a glass cannon instead of you know... just glass. Also I'm guessing sweet tooth from twisted metal 3 is number 1.
Honestly, I view Pit Viper as a better Crimson Fury. Her special is a lot like CF's laser in the sense that it knocks enemies around and can stunlock with it due to its high quantity. Or you can just discombobulate more dangerous foes while you speed off. Also, another interesting thing I found out about her is that I think she has the strongest machine guns. Not because she does more damage per bullet, but the guns are affixed closely together and you can connect both streams of bullets almost effortlessly. That's essentially double damage if you think about it. The thing I truly don't like about her is that she slips and slides everywhere.
And Cousin Eddy is basically a knockoff of two Twisted Metal 8 characters: Beeswax and Daves Cultsman that I’m surprised the company didn’t get sued by Activision
This is facinating to me because in head on if you could get ATV's special weapon upgrade i felt that he was one of the best characters. Also his design and voice were perfect. I would love to see him come back sometime, with some proper balancing though.
8:38 ah go figure! I kinda like Warthog in small brawl but only in the intro cinematic scene part- his ending feels like the consistency is gone, but I’ll keep the funny part cause it looks stupid every time I rewatch it. So yeah he might been as well called Grasshopper then.
I won't lie, you are close on a few of the worst characters in the entire TM franchise. This is what my list would look like: 10. Kamikaze TMX, same reasons you gave, a carbon copy of Crimson Fury with less armor and speed. 9.Orbital TM4: My reasoning for putting him here is his Special Weapon the Freeze Orb is a slightly better version of the freeze bomb you get in TM4 as a regular weapon pick up. It also does no damage to any vehicles only freezing them in place which feels more utility based than anything else. 8: Mime TMSB: This vehicle is unreliable with its special weapon as it takes on the properties of only vehicles it is close to in a level, so it is random you will get a good weapon or a bad one to use. It requires immediate strategy based on what Mime gets. Lets not forget how low armered this vehicle is BTW. I like gambling but the fact that Piecemeal does it better makes Mime's addition redundant. 7. Pit Viper TM1: She is bad but will not say she is complete garbage.She has only marginally more armor than Mr. Grimm and her special weapon does regenerate at a faster rate than his meaning you can get more shots with her Acid Burst special weapon more often. What takes her down is her awkward handling and it is uncontrollable where she slides which could be a danger. She also has a low speed it seems with cars like Outlaw and Roadkill able to outpace her with relative ease. 6:Twistef TM2: I find it extremely difficult to try to beat the game with her, as her special weapon is a Tornado Spin that does pull enemies into you, but you take on damage as well with them crashing into her car as the spin cycle is active. Vehicles like Axel, Outlaw 2 and Thumper can still attack with their special weapons if they are caought in the Tornado Spin. You would need to use a shield to avoid taking damage, and the fact that this has to be done only decreases her effectiveness as almost all other vehicles don't need to do this to use their special weapon. 5. Grasshopper TM2: That last statement is a good segway to this vehicle Grasshopper from TM2. Like you explained in the video a glass cannon using it's small frame to deal damage is just too ridiculous. What puts her lower in my book than Twister is sometimes when using the special it will go off but nothing will be done and you seemingly waste a special as a result. A shield is recommended especially if she is jumping into a vehicle like Axel who will shocksave the bejesus out of Grasshopper if given the chance. 4. RC Car: This vehicle is garbage for being an unlockable character. His handling is awful and feels like his armor is lacking. The laser is good but I truly think the design is all out terrible. This vehicle belongs here. 3. Hammerhead TM3: For the reasons you elluded to earlier. Poor physics leave the vehicle either on it's back like a turtle or charges high speed into a hazard. If it is the former all vehicles will surround her like a group of hungry wolves ripping her apart tearing her to pieces in a matter of moments. 2. Microblast TM4: Nearly the worst, small vehicle with poor armor and a garbage special. If done right this vehicle could have had potential with a better special weapon. It stays out of the number one spot as it is difficult to hit and can zip away from danger. 1. ATV TMHO: The one vehicle we can both agree is the worst nearly having no redeamable qualities. Maybe if the programmers gave poor old Gene Ruddish a grenade launcher or a bazooka for a special weapon, his vehicle would not have been rubbish. JK or is it?
I've got no arguments about any of these. Putting together a list myself, since I don't really have any fresh gameplay experience with any of these and just going off of memory and sentimental value, simply thinking about how little I'd miss these characters being included in another TM game ever again, this is the bottom of my list: 10. The Joneses (I like the station wagon look, but Warthog has taken over the station wagon [on tank treads] look and I'd wish for it to stay that way for future incarnations of Warthog) 9. Drag Queen (Offensive character with a vehicle I've never had fun playing with, although the vehicle design *is* cool) 8. Flower Power (Oversexualized character with a vehicle I've never had fun playing with, although the TV show gives me hope for how FP can be redone) 7. Meter Maid (Her ending might be one of TM4's best and I like how they introduced a special that heals you while it does damage to enemies, but there's no reason for Meter Maid to ever come back over Outlaw) 6. Orbital (I get it may have tactical use to freeze enemies, but to me Orbital has the worst special in the series being one that deals no damage, so thus I think Orbital should never return [at least with the freeze special]) 5. Firestarter (Again, no reason for him to return over Thumper or any other character they may give a flamethrower special too instead) 4. ATV (Just completely useless apart from being a challenge just for challenge's sake, let's be real) 3. RC Car (The only reason this exists is because 989 decided to put a boss on every level in TM4 and they had to come up with *something* for the bedroom level) 2. Quatro (In my opinion I don't think TM should have any crossover with anything sci-fi, and thus a 4-armed cyborg alien riding a hoverbike is something I never want to see return) 1. Microblast (Likewise, I don't think TM should have any crossover with any kind of "fantasy" genre, and thus a leprechaun driving a wind-up toy car is also something I never want to see return)
I didn't mind Kamikaze in 2012, but it was bitter sweet that Spectre was supposed to be in that spot in his TM1 white corvette, but they put kamikaze in there as a replacement. And I'm a die hard Spectre fanboy

Augger is awesome . Mad fun back in 1999. A trick that may improve your special damage ... memory is a bit fuzzy ...use the machine guns while the victims is spinning like a shish kebab...the other was to aim the victim for throw off the height ..like the blimp and aim and reverse ...gotta learn how to pillot him
I'm probably very few people have easier time play grasshopper than twister and hammerhead, I mean She had best control in this game and her special can combine well with other weapon. (mr.slam still have the best combo though)

No way is Pit Viper worse than Microblast or TMHO Warthog. Her special might not be as strong as Grimm's, but, she can take more hits and her special has a higher cap and regenerates faster. Heck, I think she's way more viable than Grasshopper has ever been.
I mean ngl, I do like ATV as a concept like you said too, but damn its crap. Also IIRC (been years since I played TM4) Microblast is the only character who's Special charge rate depends on his HP. I think it charges as fast as the winding key spins (Which goes slower his HP is to a point it full on stops)
The worst vehicle/character in twisted metal 2012 is talon. It doesn't feel right to control a flying vehicle in a game like twisted metal. Kamikaze's alternate special is better than the shockwave from crimson fury and it is more useful when you want to run away. Crimson fury is faster but has weaker armor. I kinda agree with your list but I thought you were going to talk exclusively about the drivers and not the cars.
I remember ATV throwing dynamite to deal some good damage. Was that only in Story? Regardless, I think ATV was just designed to be a bad character. After all, it's just a side character in a mini boss fight.
A good list; my only contention is with Pit Viper. I'd say (in TM1 anyhow) Crimson Fury is weaker overall. Yes more speed, but their special weapon is awful. Darkside has essentially the same special weapon as Crimson Fury in TM1, but Darkside has the benefit of armor and the ability to do significant ram damage.
Dude i cannot agree more with all but grasshopper, pit viper,and hammerhead. I love me some Twisted Metal. Thats been obvious over time. I just see more value in TM3 hammerhead cause for starters,TM3 HH had better control,armor,and the special was serviceable. You just have to hit reverse right before you use the special, and it still does the same damage without flipping over. It feels like ramming. Hammerhead in 2 can use a special without it being equipped,but thats it. Armors trash,alot slower and really is a chore to drive. I even compared the 2 back to back and i had very opposing moods AND performance. I feel literally hindered playing TM2 hammerhead,while TM3 has a good feel if you master the brakes/reverse on special. Pit viper has 3 stats across the board,and it seems like it. Shes actuallly one of the BEST characters IMO. 5 stock specials that git pretty hard,servicable armor,and decent speed being small enough to dodge a good bit. Lastly,Grasshoppers special doesnt hurt you when it lands. Its what the enemy does afterwards that hurts. Ive play tested this alot and it foes not hurt you at all. She still isnt great,but i just had to note it and enjoy grasshopper
For me (without including Small Brawl cause I haven’t played it to much) 10. Crazy 8 (TM Black) very niche special considering the dumb way the A.I tends to turbo from 0-100 in an instant making it hard to hit his special consistently. Also why does he have a default version when it does literally nothing. 9. Flower Power (TM3) : similar to your reasons. Great design, everything else sucks. 8. Hammerhead (TM3): similar reasons as Nicks 7. Crimson Fury (TM1): a worse and pointless version of Mr. Grimm 6. Grasshopper (TM2): horrendous stats and special 5. Microblast (TM4): I hate his laugh so much. 4. Pit Viper (TM1) another worthless inferior version of Mr.Grimm 3. Twister (TM2): an extremely inconsistent special that tends to work whenever the game feels like it. The game god-awful physics also makes this vehicle impossible to control. 2. ATV (Head On): laughably weak character. 1. Sweet Tooth (TM3): Flipping over simulator. Extremely bad character.

Both dark side and crimson fury. From tm1 really pissed me of their special was just absolute trash also mime or piecemeal from small brawl were just lazily designed they have the special but honestly I’d go with mime as the weakest since she had shittier armor
@@chrisr7235 I'd assume so too. I played since TM1 but I couldn't get into 3-4. Black and the PS3 game did get me back but they didn't hold me like 2. TM head on was very good but it was obviously a nod to TM2.
Me, Who Mains Flower Power: .... This is fine. This is... Yeah, this is fine. 🥹🥹 I respect it though. I don't know exactly why I main her, I guess it's cause I started playing tm3 for the first time and she was the easiest to understand for me, and I liked her special ability. I completely get why she's hated though.
