What about Repanse de Lyonesse's water supplies mechanic? To refresh your memories, when one of Repanse's armies docks in a settlement, they refill their water supply, which lasts for 5 turns. While the army has water supplies, they ignore desert attrition and.... that's it.

At least as the Skaven I never really "felt" the Loyalty mechanic as there were fairly regularly events in which you could increase a Lords Loyality. The VC were okay since you could regularly leave them raiding somewhere when necessary, the mechanic is worst with the DE in my experience.

Geomantic Web is one of those ideas from a lore perspective sounds amazing. However, failed in translating into a game… I think they should revisit what it does entirely. The Geomantic Web is tied to the Old Ones which should be an automatic given that whatever it does should be OP. I personally think it should provide some type of defensive buffs to those in its range and some sort of offensive magical ability on the battlefield (i.e. Weather or Orbital attack that is lore friendly).

Could make it so that while in your own territory you get certain battle abilities similar to black arcs, and campaign map buffs while in owned territory (replenishment, ambush chance, etc.). And both these abilitys/buffs get stronger as your web gets stronger. Double down on the "defend the jungles, and build tall" thing the lizardmen have thematically. Plus I think this could lend itself great to LLs like Gorok. The guy's entire thing is defend Itza to the last Saurus.

In my opinion, I actually enjoyed playing Nakai the Wanderer's campaign. While I do agree with the Geomantic Web mechanic being outdated, Nakai's whole vassal and temple offering mechanic felt super refreshing and engaging for me (since Lizardmen are always my go-to factions). My reasons / defense being: 1. The vassal settlements' only purpose being temple offerings and lunch money tax makes them replaceable, and since you don't really get commandments from owning full provinces, that gives you even less to worry about when it comes to territory defense---meaning you can just focus on being a legit wandering force of nature conquering new territory wherever you need to go (which aligns excellently with Nakai's lore). Also, the instant-defense-ready garrison makes them useful as added support to a medium damaged army or as settlement chaff that can soften an enemy army even just by a bit before 3rd partying them with your main armies. 2. The Blessed Spawnings here feel more controlled as opposed to the usual Lizardmen Quest RNG. Once you're stacked with favor from your preferred Old One and special currency, you get to just pick the Blessed Spawnings you want / need. Because of this, it's possible to create a few full stack Blessed Spawn armies of varying units. 3. The recruitment exclusivity mechanic I feel can easily be worked around. In early game, just have Nakai recruit what you need then transfer to your first new lord. This way you can already have a new horde army that can fend for itself as it grows to become more self-sufficient. In mid to late game, you would have already unlocked a bunch of recruitment bonuses from research or stacked up on special currency for blessed spawnings that you can just give a fresh new lord some much needed blessed units for a head start. 4. As for the whole Auto-resolve being sucky, I feel like Nakai shines more as a Manual Battle-favored faction (like Slaanesh or other factions that actually have better results when played manually rather than put through the black and white power criteria of the auto-resolve AI). 5. I feel like the special army abilities and spells you unlock as you offer more temples is what the Geomantic Web mechanic was missing. The fact that Nakai's armies have these special abilities and summons actually makes his specific faction's mechanics more interesting and rewarding compared to his other Lizardmen Lord brethren.

A lot of these complaints are either things like Loyalty or Peasant Economy which I've had no issues with over multiple campaigns (never had a lord defect ONCE) or just not getting enough bonuses on factions (and a game) that are otherwise too easy. Every redditor wants the game to be Ikit Claw where you can turn every unit into Doomstack material and can destroy half the map without even fighting. Fun power trip at first but Jesus the last thing this game needs to be is EASIER. Faction mechanics should make them more rewarding and interesting to play, not just give them pure bonuses at every turn.

A lot of the point of the mechanics IS to mirror the lore though. The peasant economy for example is to mirror real life war. You can't just mobilize your entire population, because you still need men at home to generate income. It's their to enhance the faction flavor, and make you appreciate just how terrifying the enemy is. The enemy doesn't need to worry about this. They can pull armies from nothing at will. You can't. Bastion defense - The only thing that can, and should improve here, is CA expanding the map northward, and adding the Hobgoblin steppes. This would give you some breathing room for the hordes to engage when they gather, making it more epic than annoying. ( But they would ignore Hobgoblins in the area when they come in the future, cuz otherwise they'd be wiped out fast ) Maybe just Vilitch would have some skirmishes with them, prioritizing the player. ( yey, an example of Logical Player bias! ) Savage Ork focus - Not an actual mechanic, just a lord focus, Greenskins in the future must have a savage ork lord to keep this dynamic going. 1:40 ACKCHUALLY The savage orks use warpaint, cuz they believe it protects them, so it actually does in the form of physical resistance. Wurrzag increases this to around 45%, so its a very hefty amount if the enemy doesn't have magical attacks. With the Savage ork warboss to continue the dynamic it will be more viable to continue. But an actual mechanic for Wurrzag would be to receive prophecies from Gork ( or possibly Mork ) and complete them as quests, kinda like T'zarkan's whispers. Ps: Units with 0 Armor actually negate AP damage, since there's no Armor to pierce. So only normal damage is accounted for ( and negated because of phys resist unless magic damage is involved ) , making savage orks Strong against AP focused units, but weak vs normal damage dealers. Skaven Loyalty - Their mechanic actually rewards you if you can go through dilemmas in a smart way, so you get many crafted items and increase their loyalty from 3 to 5+ this way. The only consequence being that they get attrition for some turns some times. The only time i had lords defect was after a confederation, where they're beyond saving. Otherwise i never had this problem. Brettonian peasant economy - I disagree 100 and i dont even play Brettonia. This mechanic very explicitly tells you to build up, rather than out, so this faction would'nt fit for hyper early aggressive players. Just focus on building economy and buildings first, then build out. Big names- Finally i agree 100, yes big names should stack, encouraging the player to actually go after quests bringing interactive / thematic play, instead of being a choice. Geomantic web- Disagree 100, it isn't underwhelming at all, i agree that it is overlooked, for players that dont care about detail, but rewarding for players that do, and regarding the money spent, it rewards you not only with the commandments, but with the % income boost to the province. This is where all the lizardmen gold comes from. Its hard to get, but rewarding once you get it. I've seen a few players complain that Lizardmen are poor, but they're actually not, you just have to toil more for it. Not everything has to come easy Imo. Vows- Agree. There must be a way to ramp up later on, so for example having a late game tech that makes you have the most important vow unlocked for all lords, or having a building that does this when recruiting lords in the province would fix this. Nakai's Vassal- Agree 100, needs a rework similar to how they work for WoC. But that comes from the AI problem that needs upgrades ALL across the board. Ok, i agree with the final two points indeed. 100% But Boris should have his own mechanic. He should'nt be a part of the political struggle at all. Should gain bonuses for fighting chaos instead.

No need for peasant. Hell, even if you Remove the peasant unit and it will not change the damn thing. They're suck early game because they're limited and they also suck late game because they're useless (breton had one of the worst infantry unit in the game). Here's hoping that Daniel gets some new mechanics added to his kit, now that they removed the recommended first campaign symbol from the faction select menu. A tech tree would be a welcome addition, especially if it helps with reducing building times. It takes a ton of resources/turns if you decide to mix and match all four factions with Daniel. I started playing Archaon for the first time this last week. I noticed he had an "Authority" graph with each of the different Chaos factions to play around with. I think Daniel should have that, too. Also gaining souls as a currency and spending them on daemonic blessings would be a nice change of pace. Gives Daniel a reason to go looking around for mortals. You know, as opposed to waging constant war with the other daemons slumming it up in the north. An idea I heard being tossed around is a "Pursuit of Godhood" style mechanic. You have to roleplay as a god and try to win over daemons/cultists in order to convert them to your army. You could think of it like a Good Book of Daniel, trying to set up rules and conditions to earn bonuses for the faction or for Daniel himself. I'm thinking something like Cult of the Lamb. Where you are given a choice between several "doctrines" that your new following has to abide by in order to maintain control/boost growth/gain access to new units. That sort of thing. Also, give Daniel access to Chaos Undivided buildings/units. It's weird that he doesn't have those...

I'm not the biggest fan of the vows mechanic myself but I do think that you're overstating how annoying they are. Halfway up the chivalry meter all lords start with the Knight's vow and later down the line they all start with the questing vow. Since chivalry is pretty easy to gather I don't think that it's such a terrible mechanic but yes, I wouldn't mind seeing them get some changes. Honestly, the biggest flaw I see with them is how the Fay Enchantress starts the game without any troths (vows) despite being the religious leader of Brettonnia. One wouldn't find it hard to believe that many knights would want to serve in her army and thereby be sure to fight in the name of the Lady of the Lake.... And this without charging her double the wages for it.

Honestly the one thing I hate is that Kislev units basically can become unbreakable for thirty seconds when they route Once. Simply for the fact that it lasts THIRTY GODDAMN SECONDS! There are battles that if you translate the army size and composition of the Kislev force into any other faction it would be one of those battles that the auto-resolve lies to you. With Kislev that turns out to be true because they can wipe out your forces during those moments of being unbreakable and thus somehow start staying around despite egregious losses on there part. This basically makes them immune to army loss routing if their army is big enough on top of the fact that most of their troops are hybrid units. Now please keep in mind that I don't hate the idea of this Mechanic. It feels proper for them from what I understand of their lore. What I hate is the fact that it lasts for Thirty Seconds. If it was Ten I could see it working better for all sides cause it gives them a fair chance at turning a battle around especially if they add a special notification for a unit that kicks this ability off for themselves like how Rampage does.

For Wurzaag savage orks, I wouldn't say it's useless because savage orks are bad (they're not, and since wurzaag can buff them to ridiculous levels it's a good army build for him). I'd say it's useless because Wurzaag starts in a region full of savage orks recruitement options, thus making the bonus pointless, and then once you start moving out, you've got global recruitement making it even more useless. A bonus that allows you to recruit savage orks anywhere adds absolutely nothing that you can't do with base game mecanics, making it pretty useless.

Disgree with the loyalty pb you mention. Rival skaven warlords will betray you AND that's annoying ? I mean, yeah, that's what skavens do... You have to give good untis and good items to your rivals or keep them busy fighting elsewhere to prevent a rebellion ? Sound very like a skaven thing to me 😂 It's not supposed to be a positive mechanic to your faction, that's just the way skavens work and you have to deal with this constent plots and threats of rebellion. And if it occurs, of course the warlord will bring his forces with him to kick your ass, he is supposed to have some followers to claim power. The only pb with this mechanic is that it could be more flesh out with more event influencing loyalty and more option for you to control it, but with a very high cost of course. Keep betrayal at bay isn't an easy task.

The fact that you didn't mention the most powerful thing to effect lord loyalty shows it's a poorly-implemented mechanic. Do you even know that if your other lords are a higher level than your legendary lord, they will lose loyalty rapidly? It's not explained anywhere in the game that I've found. I sent Ikit off across the ocean to confederate some other Skaven while I took over Brettonia with my other lords and it completely broke my game.

For Boris if I got to choose it would be a sort of three way race, he won’t confederate to others but also won’t be confederated by the others but he still gets the order and leadership stuff and if he was to reach the end of the race he gets some absolutely op thing, like using faith to change the environment of his towns to tundra or being able to insta recruit bear cavalry or some something that justifies not confederating the other kislev factions

A lot of these mechanics is strange and as a Lizard Main, yea the Geomantic web is very underwhelming and a lot of people are lot "No it buffs your commandments" like yea, a buff by 2 percent that is if its maxed out and the region has to be controlled by you, not by an ally. I thought, hey what if The Geomantic web or Geomantic pylons not only use money but require you to embark on a special quest that requires you to obtain an important construction material, you got a choice spending 20 turns waiting, or spend 5 turns to do a quest battle, oh and you get individual tiers, so the pylon starts at tier 1 all the way to 5, and each tier acts as a home region boost, like boosted regeneration, additional income, relationship boost with other lizardman, the more you complete, teh more likely other lizardman factions will do what you want even be confederated. Oh and corrupting the area will be difficult, extra work there. Oh what if not only can you build an outpost but what if that outpost allows you to reduce global recruitment? But you can only build it in major cities. Its like Norsca but you can still control the area, plus as of now, Kroq gar (to my knowledge) has a problem where his two skinky neighbors will wage war on him no matter what, despite naturally hating chaos. As for Boris, what if he doesn't provide supporters, what if the two waring religious factions want to appease you? Gain your support, in a way sort of like hte High elf random event to gain influence but here, Boris swings supporters and gain temporary buffs which get better and better as the two factions improve, so lets say the Church will provide an income boost of 200 gold for 5 turns, well 20 turns later they come back and wish to gain your support with an income boost of 1200. Oh the great wall of China I mean great Bastion of China, yea a problem, one there is another faction that have similar structures, High elves, you cannot siege their great gates, you have to attack them, you can't pass through them, though maybe what if for the more daring, those who use a movement that by passes like underground movement or teleportation, you can bypass the wall, however if you do that, you will have to fight a battle where you have to fight the wall garrison, an additional handful of militias, a patrol, then a mercenary group of some sort, oh and retreating is not an option, before or after the battle, if you screw up, that army is dead, oh of course if the army ever wins by some miracle, they will suffer attrition for lets say 5 turns or global recruitment is disabled for the army for 5 turns.

1. Not really sure what to do here besides turning it off past a certain point. You can control the entire map and barbarians keep spawning. Yeah you can farm it but a mechanic that exists to be abused sounds like bad design. Alternatively have demons with marauders come show up instead so at least I'm not confused where these guys are coming from. 2. A long-forgotten holdover from when the savage orcs were going to be their own faction. Bin it. Maybe tie their recruitment to the shaman hut since orc shamans are very clearly savage-coded. Someone mentioned giving Wurzagg missions from Gork and Mork so maybe try that. Increase fightiness. 3. I don't *hate* loyalty but I'm down on purely negative mechanics. I like the creative dilemmas it creates but surely you can have those without that like high elves do. Just add a way to make it permanently not a problem like with the VC's Loyal to the End skill. 4/7. A lot of people defend the peasant economy with "git gud" but it's not that I don't like it because it makes the game hard. Valkia is discouraged from using magic and the blood mechanic needs you to keep on the move, and besides just generally being powerful, I like it because it encourages a certain playstyle. Everything about Bretonnia feels like its constraining you and punishing you for trying to be effective, like I'm struggling with myself to use it. Half the tech tree feels like an obligation, since if you want to unite the realms and all that you have to rush it or do it just to do diplomacy for example. I think as a whole Bretonnia just needs some actual polish and not the patches/extra lord it's received so far. 5. Yeah just let them stack. Warriors of Chaos got something like it already. Just don't put them in the name. In general the ogres suffer from simplicity, funnily enough. Meat is just sorta ok. No complaints just not a lot to do. And mercenary contracts is just crying out for some Dogs of War/Golfalg Maneater DLC between that and the crummy new version that would have been better if they just ported the WHII model. 6. I've heard this is apparently good, but my issue is that it's obtuse. Arcane and esoteric and fiddly. More than that, using it to the fullest requires you to have no allies, even with your own kind, in your regions. I'd restrict the pylons to the capitals (you know the glowing bits) and probably say a military alliance is enough to raise it to maximum. 8. Ideally, Nakai is supposed to embody the savagery of lizardmen, like those ones at the Dragon Isles but still following the Old Ones. The Spirit of the Jungle. In that spirit, just give him herdstones, or I guess temples, which purify the area and make the region uncolonizable cause nature retook it, focused around the temple area. Also his economy is utter trash, make his units free and put in unit caps. Unfortunately I don't think this will truly be great until Ind gets here because lorewise I don't want to be *having* to fight Cathay for space and right now I'd feel more inclined to go wandering back home to go deal with Rakarth. 9. What to do with this one. Feels like the developers only really got as far as the concept stage. It's not even like his mechanic is that bad but I currently can't envision who else they would add. Daemon princes go into warriors of chaos already and there are no pure-blooded undivided demons. It's a category with only one entry so it might be best to just incorporate him into the warriors of chaos. I mean Norsca has a Lord of Change and Great Unclean one in it already, just make recruiting heralds harder and keep the ascension process. 10. Boris messing with Kislev politics using his supporters doesn't really make sense to me. He's left the governing of that realm to his daughter and loyal head priest. I think the best thing to do is have them represent people's belief in his chaos purging quest. Make them think it's actually worth it going out there and decrease the cost of units.

At max chivalry all lords start with max vows.

I would hardly playing vanilla one because of these reasons, and some of them get unique and lore - accurated mechanics as well. For an examples.. - Nakai's vassals can have units for defending themselves - The Great Bastions have more impact on Wu Xing Compass related on bastion threat - Loyalty gives more choices, sometimes getting cool permanent traits - Peasant Economy gets offensive bonuses for overrecruiting

i think with all the demons they should have been. Daniel ONLY gets pure demons (no mortals), needs a tech tree, and you can customize other demon prince lords with the left over gear or something. the warriors of chaos should have a majority of mortal units with like 2-4 demons in an army. and the monogods should only focus on their demons and get them cheaper then anyone else and get some mortal units that have expendable trait or something. As it is now, warriors of chaos are the best mono demon faction, undivided, mortal, everything and it removes any reason to play the other demonic factions imo.

It does seem odd how the developers will add in new factions while there are tons of bugs and issues with existing factions. Cathay:...yeah. But defend from ongoing invasion from the north is kinda the entire point. I agree they are in need of *something* though. Wurzagh: that's kinda the problem i feel with other faction of the same principle; only one that works for me is arkhan since he buffs vampiric units for *all* armies. Loyalty: honestly i would be happy even if they simply implement the same loyalty mechanic used for the vampirates, where high loyalty gives that lord some form of bonus. Bretonnia: pasant economy should reduce the upkeep of knights, simple as. The upkeep tied to vows bugs me since it's existence, like, at least don't increase the upkeep for knights errand, damn you. Big names: same thoughts...then you see champion of chaos collecting all kind of buffs and it is only more frustrating. Geomantic web: need rework, but no idea what to do with it...if you want to go REALLY op, maybe some form of passive buffs-debuffs for friendly/enemy armies inside since the magical defence of the temple city gets progressively restored. Hell, go nuts and give them the ability to teleport between cities with a tier 5 geomantic web. Daniel: i honestly don't think it's as grim as someone pictures it, the buffs to me are still good, my main problem with him is usually on an economic level.

I gotta say I disagree wholeheartedly with the first mechanic. If you don't like holding the forces of disorder away from the great wall, I don't think the campaign is for you. Edit: Number 2: Are you off your nut today?? I totally disagree with that. Physical resistance is not useless, and no, there are not 'whole armies' that are toting it around. And this is a total noob mistake to say that it does nothing; any warhammer fan ought to understand that warhammer is a game of by the numbers. The point of physical resistance isn't to make the unit tough, it's to face tank a two handed axe and then eat another one instead of dying in one hit.

Nakai,s vassal thing could be somewhat easily fixed by having a 4th option to make the settlement a fort rather than temple, you would loose out abit on the bonus but gain defence, As for Boris it honestly makes no sense that hes not involved in the whole confederation race since hes literally the old tzar and both Katarin and Kostaltyn liked him, i think they should move him to Frozen Landing in IM or even possibly Praag. I dont mind the loyalty, i agree that its not a "fun" mechanic but it fits lorewise and the dilemas add fun aspects like items and traits and makes you choose, i do think it could stand to be more predictable, you can currently win like 3 straight fights and not gain any loyalty and likewise sometimes it just doesnt decay at all.

It being the #1 worst faction mechanic doesn't make sense because it doesn't hurt you in any way, shape, or form. Even if you think it's "worthless" its not actively disadvantaging you (unlike, say, Brettonia). I really disagree that loyalty makes nk sense to be in the game. I agree its current execution is quite neglible/frustrating depending on the kind of player you are. Some of these are features that add more risks and decision making to the gameplay, that already is painfully streamlined in comparison to previous tw games or strategy games. What i feel is lacking, is that loyalty feels rewarding. The vampire coast version of loyalty was heading the right direction. Low loyalty could give some combat bonuses, while high loyalty could give provincial or army bonuses (depending on the lord's loyalty trait). Just because a flavorful mechanic hasnt been implemented well, doesnt mean CA shouldn't remove it.

For Bretonnia (don't play them often), isn't the strat to just ignore peasants in the early game and recruit lords because you don't suffer from Supply Line penalties? Or was that a WH2 thing? Also, even with the game penalizing you for recruiting peasants, your lands are infested with 2 Vampire factions, who have fear effects which greatly hurt peasant units because of their low leadership, making them even more worthless to recruit. Back when I played WH2, Bretonnia would be overrun every game by Vamp Counts if I wasn't playing a faction that would contest them every single time. The faction that starts at war with Mousillion (I think it's Artois) would get blown up on turn 2.
