True story: a friend convinced me to watch Cats with him. Half way through my left retina tore in four places. One eye tried to blind itself rather watch the whole movie. The good news is that I got surgery and I’m fine.

Whoever gave Julia Roberts that wig in Mother’s Day needs to go to jail.

To be honest, every single Seagal performance is deserving of a Razzie.

Kudos to not including any obvious pop star performances (i.e. Madonna, Britney, Rihanna, Mariah, Spice Girls, JLo), Showgirls, Halle Berry in Catwoman, or Sharon Stone (especially Basic Instinct 2). Thanks for another interesting video, Brian!

Travolta even bankrolled Battle Field Earth. He cut his own salary from 20 million to 10. And lost his 15 million dollar back end deal because the movie didn't do well.

I have to disagree with the notion that awarding or recognizing the worst in art is a bad idea or one not worth doing. It’s worth bringing attention to where art fails, exploring and explaining way…now whether the razzies do a good job of it is a discussion worth having, but the general notion of explaining why a piece of art is believed a failure is an important one.

Allegedly, Pauly Shore is trying to star in a Richard Simmons biopic. Honestly, I can see it. They need to give him a hell of a good script.

Movie critics lost all credibility when Ebert said _Home Alone 3_ was "better than the first two." That quote is literally on the movie poster/cover.

Leonard Part 6: Cosby also wrote and directed it. He also apologized for it before it opened in theaters. I was working at a theater at the time and we punished kids trying to sneak into R rated movies by making them watch that mess.

It's also worth mentioning Jack and Jill's hefty 79 million dollar budget. More than three times the budget of something like The Grand Budapest Hotel. I hope someone got a really nice pay check.

"I don't really believe in awarding the worst..." Actually, given how big Hollywood's corporate head has gotten over the years, the Razzies serve an important role in our culture.

I was surprised and lowkey relieved that no Madonna performance was included. Granted she was never nowhere near a tour de force as an actress, and whatever the role you just can't forget that it's Madonna and some of her Razzie noms are justifiable, but she also has had some perfectly fine movie performances (especially Dick Tracy and A League Of Their Own) but the Razzies just loved to nominate her for anything she was in. (Also kudos for not going the route of choosing performances by other popstars.)

If I'm correct Lorraine Gary was married to a major executive at Universal Studios and nepotism obviously played very heavily into her opportunity to be in both the original Jaws, and collect her 'big paycheque' for Jaws the Revenge.

Also I think the point of annoying movies being unbearable is really important. I Can enjoy a bad film if it’s funny to me but if a film or a performance is annoying it’s very hard to get into that

I'm still not entirely convinced that Leonard Part 6 was a real, actual movie and not some huge joke played on humanity by our sadistic overlords. It's so incredibly bad in such a precise and calculated way, that it feels almost impossible that this wasn't done on purpose...

Ultimately the Razzies can be as subjective as the Oscars, and that's fine. Massive props to Halle Berry for sucking up the L and actually accepting her (Catwoman) Razzie in person. That's not in this video but it is something I remember the most.

I'm guessing you people have never seen Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees, George Burns, Alice Cooper and many other high-class acts. How can you fail with a cast like this? THEY DID!

as someone who really enjoyed the musical cats as a kid and owned and frequently watched the vhs of the london run of the show i just cannot bring myself to watch the new one. the stage costumes made it so great and to see them replaced with absolutely terrible cgi is just... i can't even think about it without getting angry lmao.

The ONLY James Corden performance I don't hate is his work as the Baker in Into The Woods And I'd still love to see a better actor do that role.

Julia Roberts' in Mother's Day reminds me of Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men.

Hollywood needs to stop making Pinocchio films. Every 10 to 15 years there's another version of that movie and they're always bad. The best one was the original Disney cartoon and all of the live-action ones have been really bad. Somehow it is a cursed property and people need to just let it go. It's like that weird location in your hometown where every restaurant that sets up there fails no matter how good or bad they are. Edit - I have to say that I have not seen Guillermo del Toro's new version but I am pretty sure that's not live action so it has a chance of being good.

Calling Pauley Shore OR Tom Arnold either an actor or a comedian is a stretch of monumental proportions.

It is hard to tell if a bad performance is because of the actor or the director.

You do know in some instances, the Razzies nominate what they do for the laughs. For instance, “Life in a Looking Glass”, which was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars, was nominated for Worst Original Song simply because “[they] were tired of hearing it”.

I saw Disaster Movie with Kim Kardashian and others a few days ago. It had Razzie winner written all over it.

Not only was Corden awful, they massacred Bustopher Jones in that movie. In the musical, he's fat, yes. But he's also loved by pretty much everyone, and is a fun high society cat with a shining personality. They movie removed everything but 'Fat' and went from there.

Almost everything Seagull has ever done is Razzi potential. Even when the movie is relatively good, Steven Seagull is Razzi.

I have very mixed feelings about Robert Zemeckis, he has made some of my favorite movies but also some movies I really hated.

Two that I think should get a mention for worst acting performance are 1) Nicholas Cage in Peggy Sue Got Married, and 2) Keanu Reeves in Dracula. Both decent movies, so how could their performances be overlooked?

I've only seen Leonard Part 6 and it was bad. I wanted to walk out of the theater and leave but my friend thought it was hysterical. Between this one and Ghost Dad (another Cosby stinker), he wasn't a good movie actor.

Tom Arnold imo is a great supporting character. any movie is seen him in where he was the buddy he stole each scene. he's a very funny man.

You mentioned Julia 's wig, but not Lorraine Gary sporting the worst haircut in cinema history. Props to you for showing the endurance to sit though these. I've only seen the entire Jaws and Segal movies . The rest, I couldn't make it past 20 minutes on any of them.

I have a soft spot for Bio Dome honesty...i think Pauly worked best in like Encino Man and Class Act.

Finally someone who hates Tom Hanks in Elvis- he (and the role) were just awful, a real movie killer.

Tom Hanks getting nominated for Pinnochio AND for Elvis? For the record I can get why people hated Hanks's accent in Elvis, it's not supposed to be realistic (Parker was actually Dutch and that's the accent he was going for). I thought he was kind of funny in some parts, and also I definitely think Cats definitely deserved to win (I mean what do you expect when James Corden is basically just playing his usual self as a cat as opposed to the original broadway version?)

Ah, Caddyshack 2. I absolutely remember that being on Cinemax all the time when I was a little kid - and I probably watched it every single time it was on. I actually recorded it on VHS and watched it even when it wasn't on. There are so many lines of that movie that are burned into my memory, I find myself throwing them out every so often, but never get any recognition. It does have the most Chevy Chase sounding line ever though - "So let me get this straight, you pull, I suck. So, what's in it for me?" lol

Bill Cosby himself realized just how awful "Leonard Part 6" (1987) was weeks before it was even released, such that he publicly denounced and disowned it, urging movie goers not to waste their money. And he humbly accepted all three Razzies for it (Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay and Worst Actor), and even showed them off during late night interviews. Likewise, Tom Green accepted all the Razzies garnered (five total) by "Freddie Got Fingered," (2001) but with a much different opinion about the film's merits (or lack thereof). He brought his own red carpet to the ceremony, along with a big acceptance speech and a harmonica which he then played so badly for so long that eventually he was dragged off the stage.

I think some of these low rated performances were not supposed to be great to begin with. The Stupids’ title says it all. I think there were a lot of drugs and a lot of money being thrown around and certain people that were hot at the time we’re given garbage to work with. Maybe that’s all they were capable of achieving, but I think that the majority of the scripts were terrible. I can’t say that we need to blame the performers for poor writing and directing let alone the poor thought that went into green lighting garbage. I would say that there are worse movies with worse acting, but no one knows who those people are or what those films were. I think the razzie’s are really just a “knock them off their throne” moment because no one likes to see anybody being successful. What is on the page is not what is on the screen.

Cats is a movie that actually is impossible to watch. Every 10mins you want to turn it off. This is what they showed Malcom McDowell in clockwork orange

I like the Razzies. Bad movies & acting need to be called out. Most of the time they are pretty accurate but they screw up just like the Oscars do.

I've seen all of these movies! YIKES! Cosby purchased the Television rights to "Leonard" so it could not be presented on TV. You'd think if he had that kind of power he could have withheld the theatrical release and saved himself the embarrassment! "Cats" is the last movie I saw before the pandemic closed everything down and it was more painful than contracting Covid! "Battlefield Earth" was a painful experience it actually gave me a headache and nausea and I had to leave the theater! In the 90s I worked at Blockbuster Video and we were allowed 5 free rentals week. After "Biodome" I wanted a credit on my free rental! However, I did enjoy "Jack & Jill" and "The Love Guru"! Sue me! 😂

Lorraine Gary had no potential. She had no potential, but she was Sid Sheinberg's wife. She was forced on the Jaws movies. Sid was President of MCA / Universal. A similar arrangement was Jenny Jones, who was the wife of David O. Selznick. He kept putting her in 15 to 20 year old roles till it just became ridiculous and creepy.

CATS humiliated Taylor Swift so badly she hasn't even written a hate song about it because that would bring the subject of the debacle up again. For that reason CATS is not a total loss. Just 99%.

Tom Hanks’ best performance was in “Lady Killers.” Julia Robert’s is between good and alright, except in “Notting Hill.” Possibly the worst movie of all time with a resounding one total good joke (the ping pong joke). She looked like she didn’t want to be there, but in her defense, she probably didn’t. This was right after Hugh Grant got catch cheating on his Elizabeth Hurley. I can understand the feeling if she was salty over it. She’s talented and all but she has done several terrible films. I missed Battlefield Earth (thank God!), but Face/Off is almost the worst movie I ever saw. Interestingly enuf, John Travolta was alright as an actor. Nick Cage, another great actor, was DREADFUL tho. One of my favorite acting performances in Adam Sandler in “Punch Drunk Love.” I was a bit bummed he wasn’t nominated for Best Actor because I had a feeling this was basically his only shot and it was maybe in my Top 10 favorite acting performances of all time.

The only movie I've ever fallen asleep during at the theater was The English Patient. God that movie was so boring. How it was nominated let alone win an Oscar ls beyond me.
