@@unholybrat I don't think he was explicitly defening the two accused rapists rather he was trying to say that people today can face serious charges on a mere accusation rarely with provided evidence which is a good overall point and needs to be addressed, as for calling the chinese a subspecies he was referring to their lack of emotion when treating animals which is true, and we are all subspecies of humanoids (like dogs) different races think in different ways as it is proven. You really just focus on the most shocking bits without looking any further "but he said this!""he said that" I'm sure that you ,just like any average person, have said many insensitive and outrageous things as well and probably didn't know it, which is normal.

Most tellingly, this lazy and ill researched piece of crap says that Morrissey “..Defended them in multiple interviews” As far as I am aware, it was one interview with Der Spiegel, repeatedly reported, often out of context, and with very biased and opinionated editorial slant. WatchMojo also asserts that Morrissey ‘stands behind them’ , which clearly means supports them. He was (if you take it as read that the translation was reasonably faithful/accurate) expressing some thoughts about it. People need to listen more carefully and weigh them up before joining the ranks of the outraged. The Chinese comments are probably the worst thing in this list. If he actually did say that.

On the last point it should be mentioned that he claimed he was misquoted, and requested the uncut audio of the interview be released. The subsequently released audio proved he was being quoted accurately.

I'm vegan, and as a pacifist I love Morrissey's advocacy against violence to animals none of us would be able to kill if we were standing in the slaughterhouse. However. I think this video is a good example to show that vegans aren't all that. It's not because one is against speciesism, that one is also against racism or sexism. So for the few "I'm better than you because I stand up for the voiceless"-vegans out there, maybe try a different method of informing people on speciesism.

Honestly, it's not that bad, and people really misinterprete some of the things he says. When he called Chinese people a sub-race, he said that only because of how they treat animals, he says they are low quality people because of the way they behave, it's not racism, he's not dissing on the way they look or the their religion, or the fact that they are Chinese. No. He disses on the way Chinese people act. For those things he calls them a sub-race. That's not racism.

I think a lot of people take his music and think he seriously is a depressed person when a lot of the time he's actually being witty and its sort of similar to his interviews where people will spin one comment much like his music to a complete negative without allowing him to go on and explain his reasoning . He can be a tad extreme in the way he expresses his opinions but people only find them shocking when a celebrity says them because celebrities are expected to be some higher being that must seek out the approval of everyone by being as P.C. as possible and if any of these interviewees were familiar with his work at all they would know he doesn't give a fuck. At the end of the day there are many artists that we highly revere as incredible talents that were complicated outside of their art and I think Morrissey to some is a prime example of that.

Of course, this has always been true and was true for more local celebrities as far back as the 1700s. Nothing shockingly about famous/powerful people being held to higher standards, in fact, it makes perfect sense. That fame, or power, innately comes with great influence and, in turn, responsibility. I would say this is one of the biggest problems with modern famous people. Of course, not that they should be mindless members of some 'group' rather than individuals. It's about balance, like with anything else.

Rivka G I have no problems with having pride in ones nation of birth I just think that people shouldn't just blindly worship every aspect of a culture without considering the harm that could be done.
