Sloth this deck needs case of the suspected skeleton and diabolic intent So with this you can sac the skeleton to tutor with intent which effectively solves the case since. You don't control any suspected skeleton which then let's you search up the 2nd card of the combo or whatever you need..... So now not only can we. Play 4 copies of each combo piece but we get 8 ways to tutor them up for 2 mana so it's like playing 12 copies of our combo piece the rest of the deck can be ramp at that point it just needs negate to protect the combo maybe a way to make our aclazot indestructible or phase out against sun fall 😊

@@zigzag2370 Sounds fun, it also works with bargain - with great synergy as you sac skeleton, enabling 2nd tutor :) I decided for more aggressive/crime version, but there are SO MANY ways to build this deck, we will definitely got for other twists (but first want to cover all cool archetypes)
@@SlothMtg I just like the fact that I can double tutor... There is also illicit shipment which has casualty 3 so if you play corpse of the lost giving your skeleton+1/+0 and haste you can then sac the skeleton from the case to illicit shipment and have 3 tutor effects but shipment costs 5 to cast where case and intent would cost 6 across multiple turns I really like the way it gives me access to things that otherwise lack redundancy
Hi SLoth! OTJ looks pretty fun! Lot of very strong cards. It was fun to watch how you did realize that Lazav could even block when you commited a crime and changed into Trumpeting Carnosaur. You could kill something else and block with changed Lazav! it is realy strange combo!! Still watch your videos they are great! thanks
Indeed, I lowkey ignored Lazav's 2nd ability, and what a mistake it was! I think I could do so much more with it, and that block was epic - both me and opponent missed this play, won't happen again! One of the cool things about new set - decks you start with, only get better as you learn all new interactions, hopefully we will more of it in new standard :) OTJ indeed looks great so far! Best video ever! I see you jumped on the bloodletter wagon. I knew if I talked it up and glorified it enough day before yesterday that it would be the first deck you experimented with. Haha just kidding, I'm sure I didn't have anything to do with it. Listen sloth I went from platinum 3 to mythic 1109 in one day with my version of this deck! It's insane! I kinda like Lazav and Kaerevek. They might just make the final list. Cryptic coat is surprisingly good too
Wow, that's impressive man!:) Yeah, this deck was on my list just based on how interesting it is, hesitated between this and azorius :) But this one is dimir, so that prevailed :D This felt definitely like combo we all need to be aware off, because let's be honest, we will all die to it. Many, many times 😂🤷♂ And amazing results, that's good to know man:) New creatures are both strong and fun, so I'm not surprised, it might put dimir in top decks - time will tell. Cheers!
@@Fargoth95 oh sure man. It's actually really similar too ashlizzles list she posted a few days ago, you can just check her deck list out. I was just experimenting with the new avarice tutor and the new blue spell that allows you to copy/ protect a creature. My finding is that I cut the avarice spell and run 4x beseech the mirror, 4x rush of dread, 4x new blue spell and 4x bloodletter and 4x mindlink mech. Then there is a deep cavern bat /gix package with 4x spyglass siren and 4 bitter triumph. That's the base. You can experiment with spell pierces, or bounce spells, ertais, I even tried the new black creature that makes a treasure token for 1 and tap, oh and if you're playing best of 1 it's almost mandatory to run at least 2 path of peril. I also like a 2/2 duress/dreams of steel and oil split. Hope this helps my friend. Ashs list is a great place to start and just tweek depending what you run across most on ladder that day
@@SlothMtg I'm so excited to see! I think dimir might be tier one again finally! Even if it's not combo based. It was so close to top tier with it's most recent iteration of the MKM midrange deck. I'm so glad you chose to do dimir first. Now I got my fill it won't make the azorious video as intolerable. Haha.
Yesterday was Dimir Day at The Slotherhouse, and I missed it! While I'm almost done watching this video, I love what you've done with this. You're learning about the new mechanics as you're going along, and the excitement and jovial laughter in your voice is awesome to hear, especially with the insane combo of Bloodletter and Rush of Dread. The new Lazav is also definitely insane in himself. Tinybones and his legendary enchantment are also incredible. I had an absolute blast watching this one! Very glad to read this my friend, one of big joys of making content is sharing fun times while playing :) There will be some blunders in plays, as I learn small interactions - I usually like to showcase them so you guys can save time learning them. i really like the thoughts at the end of your videos, as an example : i havent realized the kaervek-> tinybones joins up "combo" , ofc its clunky but just having this possibility is kinda insane. sure it also costs life but having 1 on the field and dropping another -> 1discard+crime -> play anything (including another joins up) -> 2life for the "old" enchantment -> you can do it again to instantly. which means 4 life loss and 3 discards, for 3 mana.... if youre behind insane (unless it kills you) and if youre ahead... you stay ahead :) btw, if im not mistaken kaervek ignore timing restrictions aka doing that lets say in opponents upkeep? xD 3mana teferi vibes right there :D keep on drawing mr.sloth
So cool to hear, I never know if those 8-10 minutes podcasts are useful, I believe they are as I had to craft all those cards for showcasing, so why not share first impressions about new cards!:) And yeah, amount of small synergies in this set, is kinda insane, the more you learn about crime the more you realize how many ways to trigger it there are. Especially things like deserts, give you ways to kinda cheat full turn with some crime cards, investing 1 mana into activating full set of synergies! Nice deck for the many triggered synergies. I think the new card Fleeting Reflection will also count as a crime for targeting, and is a good option to include to buff Lazav. Also a rat tribal variant with crimes being committed by Lord Skitter exiling the opponent's graveyard as rats enter the field. Creatures that trigger opponent's discard to grave, and creatures that infinite loop new rat tokens lead to Lord Skitter creating infinite crimes to trigger Lazav.

Was looking for a Lazav deck to see how well it combos. I been testing Duelist of the Mind and Lazav so I could pitch something like Yargle and Multani make Lazav a big boy and Kill in one hit. the combo goes like this Turn 1 Tiny Bones Joins Up Turn 2 Duelist of the Mind, or Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel Turn 3 Lazav, Familiar Stranger / If you have Malcolm he swings to pitch Yargle. Turn 4 Drown in Incho, Trigger Duelist and Trigger Lazav,> Pitch the Yargle with Duelist then Target it with Lazavs ability > Ichor resolves and proliferates Lazav's counter and Yargle is 20 power. Hopefully swing across. Few other ways is to pitch Yargle with Bitter Triumph or any other draw discard spell. The other 2 drop Lazav can also work with this combo just in a slightly different order.
WotC did a good job with this set, imo. The built-in synergies of this set have enough support to be playable while other cards in the set help support older decks. Been having a blast with the new cards so far. Have you considered Unlicensed Hearse as a replacement for the Schooner? It's a really good enabler for the crime mechanic with the added bonus of enabling it during the opponents turn. It helps with the control match-ups and any decks utilziing graveyard synergies, which seems like most decks are.
Indeed, as I was playing, I got more and more hyped :) New cards seem super strong, but at least for now, in pretty cool fun way (and they aren't as much about ending game before opponent starts to play, but to actually outvalue/outsynergize opponent). So far, set has been great, and extremely fun :) Hearse might be a good choice, as I mentioned in intro, I originally thought it will trigger crime, but it doesn't (tested it) - hearse is really good, but there might be even better 2 drops, new cards seem insane :) PS. Maybe even duelist as a strong 2 drop that helps with crime synergies+cycles cards?
Not so hyped about western themed sets, but at this point…Go home or swallow ! As long as sloth is given tools to entertain us…A whole different game, that i will support 😎
Well, last set i almost broke a 30 years friendship with the card "Outrageous Robbery", now i m gonna close my eyes and pretend i didn’t saw or heard anything. 😃

Literally every mtg RU-vidr has featured this combo 🥴 Every deck is going to need a lot of instant speed removal this meta due to all the broken combos this set brings
@@jza88 It appears so, man, maybe I should see that coming but I was so surprised most Creators took this combo as first video of new set :D Even CGB did it too. I guess it proves how big of a deal it is, combo is not only insanely strong as game closer, but also both used cards are legit good on their own, so deckbuilding cost is very low, for insane powerspike. I wonder about future of this combo, because it seems to be staying here for a long time;)
I finally ran out of steam with Arena and MTG in general. This is the first set that I didn't invest in the pre-sale. LOL. I'll just grab a few cards to augment my control decks as needed.

Indeed, so far it seems set is very impactful, and very fun at the same time :) Even when meeting old metaaggro decks,we seem to hold our own :) Mono black is pretty amazing right now, should go well for ya :D
I think there might be PLENTY of new decks, even when making this one - I had like 6 different ideas how to build it, with different sub-strategies. I went with crime, but there are just so many ways (even going pure mono black, and many other splashes). If you have limited wildcards, I advise waiting 1-2 weeks, so we see meta builds and their big-sample winrates, then it's easy to make final crafting decisions. Tinybone joins up, is probably 4x for every crime deck, this card is basically insane, and even in worst case, it is a 1 for 1 (except super lategame with empty hands obviously). Probably this will be very meta card, that's my guess

I think there are many options - but to keep in line with crime theme - hearse could be pretty nice, exile effect (don't forget targetting from it is a crime), and also a big creature with basicaly haste ;) And of course it activates all crime synergies
I keep trying to log in, and it says it's unable to retrieve my collection. Had this several times over the past few weeks. I check whether there are sny known issues and there arent, and i cant play no matter what platform or what I do. Posting in the hope someone knows what to do! Cheers for more great content Sloth.
For me it was instantly working, maybe try to launch via launcher (so it checks intergrity or smth), or worst case, reinstall? You can try googling reddit etc. to see if this is known issue. Hopefully someone can help more, but that's best I've got - hope you get it fixed man! Worst case you can make a support ticket for wizards, they will resolve it nearly for sure
Cranking content all the time while not sleeping 😂 It will be a marathon, but I think it will be super fun to watch, so many new decks can be brewed! PS. I will try to give some crafting/first impression tips, so hopefully it will help to make decisions :) This set feels really heavy on wildcards, but trying to get all cards on day 1 so you don't need to feel the pain as much and make better decisions than me!😂🦥❤
At about 16:42 why did your opponents play with fire sent your Malcolm in to exile instead of the grave yard? Later in the same match he sent one of your bats into exile also. Free graveyard hate for mono red >
Kumano faces kakkazan turns into creature at turn 3 - when it is in battlefield, creatures are exiled (I think there is some damage condition, so check card for details). So as long as kumano is in play, you need to be careful as it can handicap your graveyard/death interactions (card is pretty busted with all extra effects)
Well, there is definitely a strong point here - we will see what will be the final form of this combo. So far, it seems very low deckbuilding cost, for insane effect, and both cards are great separately. Time will tell :)
I started playing during the first kamigawa release, so it is probably just veterans like me who would like more original play strategies. The game is design to please the most, and i m part of a dying mtg species now 🤣 so yeah… This is just another set where i wonder where magic is moving to. But there always were sets or series of sets that pushed me out, and others that made me want to come back. But nowadays, arena player base absolutely don’t give a damn about toxicity, fun, and shared experiences. As long as its wins, they will go for it…(Absolutely not talking about mono-red, no this one is a lost cause 😙) These kind of tools only brings more toxicity to the game (imo), or maybe wotc is just trying to delete standard. Man, even trying to play irl in a group become increasingly difficult, can t remember the last time we didn’t argue about power creep cards and cheap/toxic strategies during a game. Anyway, you sloth are one of the very few that still link me to mtg, the way you play, the way you think during games, your knowledge of the meta..This always brings me back ! Stay the same.
Tbh, I think standard needs some shakedown, especially in absence of rotation - and it seems most colours got some powercards - we will see how it goes :) But I don't mind a strong set, it's been a while and it might shake boros/red aggro decks, finally
@@SlothMtg On one hand, yes, I don't like a braindead deck meta like Boros and mono red, but I also don't want another meta with Invoke Despair everywhere. I hope for a well-varied and fun meta.
@@hetsahk Yeah, fully agree here, we will see. This combo, can be pretty toxic, if it finds a good shell (low deckbuilding cost, as both modules of combo are great cards). Even here we are basically an aggressive deck, that also has "by the way" an autowin instant kill combo. So yeah, I'm curious myself what final form this combo will take, it might force more control decks as it is easier to counterspell/kill bloodletter with such archetype, breaking combo. We will see

I can absolutely relate - buying all those packs to craft new decks on day 1 was... a bit painful to me :) But trying to showcase new cards so you can get feeling of what is worth crafting and what might fall-off. Also, wait 1-2 weeks before crafting, right now we don't really know what will stick in meta and what won't :) But yeah, amount of cards to be crafted in this set, is kinda insane
