The only problem with this is that it is the luck of the draw. Some of the phones landed screen down and complete shattered, but some landed on the back and survived even with a crappy case on them.

Every phone dropped and impacted differently. Unfortunately its tough to do an unbiased drop test. You could drop every case 30 times and get 30 different results.

I completely agree. If the phone impacts on a corner your delivering a lot more force in a concentrated area than impacts that contact with more surface area.

Thanks. For a long time, I expressed disdain for how there are hundreds of drop tests but hardly any for drop tests with some sort of protection which is how 70% or more of people use the phone when dropped. I still would like to see more android case drop tests and particularly my specific cases like Thor Aluminum or commuter Otterbein without built in screen. Many reviews on aesthetics of these cases, but I guess most reviews are like me and do not want to risk breaking their phone with a case drop test.

+Mr.Baconsauce there are way too many differentiating factors, such as wind resistance, angle it hits the floor. This is in no way representative of an actual phone drop. It randomizes it so much because he's doing it from a height that makes it impossible to actually simulate a similar drop with each case

The Tech21 case, despite having damage, did incredibly well. From 50 feet which would hardly ever happen in the real world. The reason it did so well, it's lined with 3DO, which is an absolutely amazing compound. Can wrap an egg in hit and whack it with an hammer and the egg will take no damage. I'm actually looking at a case by Gear4 which uses the same compound.
