I don't play the game that much anymore, but somehow i always end up watching these top plays compilations and it makes me glad to see that the game is still going
The fact that this video is coming out in March goes to show how much work goes into these videos and how much we should appreciate Luke for his efforts.
OK that thing where the spy craters after stabbing someone directly beneath him kinda confuses me too. It happens with all other classes where if you instakill someone directly beneath you, you accelerate downwards at a speed high enough to do some fall damage to you. I'm not sure how the source engine does that, my guess is when you're standing on someone the game still builds momentum on you, and by instantly killing that person, that momentum causes you to take fall damage. This is my theory, but if anyone is more knowledgeable regarding the source engine, please let me know more on what is going on there.
so when you come into contact with someone vertically speed is transferred, one cool application is jumping on top of someone and air blasting them into you for a boost. The same effect is responsible for the sense fixed teleporter trampoline (along with some other glitches that were fixed). I believe what happens is that by backstabbing them you deal a bunch of damage and the damage causes a knock back effect downward which is then transferred to you sending you at a high velocity into the ground.
The jump that blaze did on gully into big door wasn't a skip jump but rather a speedshot. Great video nonetheless but using skip jump as an all encompassing term for different kinds of rocket jumps is inaccurate.
6:50 he cratered because there's a glitch that causes you to take fall damage when you backstab someone while crouched on their head, it's really weird but it forces you to the ground super fast and does like 5 damageish
to answer your question about the crater on clip 5, the game does weird stuff to your velocity if you stab someone while standing on their head. itll kinda just shoot you in any random direction, but usually down.
Did anyone else come here because they made such an amazing shot that they recorded, can't stop rewatching and was wondering if there was anything that could beat it? On 2Fort I had a Shooting Star on the right side of the sniper base, aiming at a charging demo, where my aim wasn't lined up well, I was hit an enemy projectile while scoped in, still scooped in, flying through the air while demo is charging on roof, I landed a headshot, & landed with 9 health & immediately pulled out the Conga taunt after. It was so amazing I had one guy spectating me say in voice chat: "What a shot!". I'm thinking about uploading it later but I'm still trying to upload in order of the days I played them in so it might be very late. I kind of just started with uploading the very first few clips that I recorded but I seriously wonder if anyone has done this before. I also have many invisible spy headshots and predictions at least 7 this year so far. Also on Hightower I did a challenge of 360 no scope with Huntsman where I jumped off of Hightower, did a 360 and shot a Scout in the head which I sadly lost the recording for because it was a demo and not recorded with OBS.
For the sake of everyone who actually does jump maps, please stop calling literally every different jump a skip jump. I appreciate these awesome vids but if you play solly you may want to actually do some jump maps and learn the different jumps. Keep up the good work
What's with the amount of Soldiers using The Original? Not only in this video, but I mean in-game. I can only find Original or Direct Hit Soldiers. It's been too long since I saw stock.
