"Longwood," is also referred to as Nutters Folly. A physician named Nutter was having this unique 7 story home built when the war between the states finally spilled over into armed conflct. Many of the artisans, building contractors fled back to the north. Thus, the house was never completed. The family lived in the basement. Locals may discount or correct what is stated by me. I have toured Longwood, and have some excellent photographs of the exterior.
