(West) Asheville resident here - I'll throw a couple more ideas out for anyone visiting: La Zoom Comedy Bus Tour - it's a fun trip around the city (about an hour I think) with a comedic tour guide, along with special guest performers along the way... and in the Grove Arcade, Battery Park Book Exchange is a unique place for coffee/dessert or a glass of champagne - you're surrounded by shelves and shelves of used books, most hardcover - and all for sale. Enjoy!
I have lived in the area over 15 years. It is a great city. All cities have issues Asheville is no different. I still live it here. Great people great food and fun areas to visit. Grove park inn has a great Sunday brunch. It is like $50 a person but well worth it.
The Grove Arcade IS beautiful! Though it's been several years since my visit, I have fond memories. I live in California, but have relatives in Asheville.
Just got back from Asheville but only had one day there and I spent the whole day at the Biltmore, which was fabulous! I really wanted to explore Asheville but didn't have the time. I hope to come back one day and see more. The pinball museum looks like a lot of fun and I love all of the architecture!
I have lived in Asheville for 20 years and I still love it. Watching this video made me think of many great memories I have from each of those locations. I live just 2 miles from the Biltmore and keep up a yearly pass to it. My kids love to run around on the grounds and have picnics there. I enjoyed all your footage, really well put together video.
@GamingRailfan Thank you for your comment. One of my friends has been living there all his life and recently told about the artists who are known to flock there. Very best wishes, in advance, re relocating to your new home! Andrea S.
Great video! Loved the drone footage theme. I have lived here for over 20 years. Picked up guitar building and photography in the last 10 year and love the natural beauty that surrounds Asheville. One of my favorite place is the N.C. ARBORETUM. Check it out next time you’re in town. Thanks for putting this together. Will definitely follow you on other town journeys. Cheers
Why are people complaining about the homeless? it's normal now a days for any city in the US. I mean even in cold cities like, NY ciry, Chicago and small nice cities like Madison WI have lots of homeless people, I think it's something you have to learn live with unless someone does something to end it.
Agree100%. With the way things are, this problem seems to be a given in a city of any size. Let's keep perspective. There's a lot in Asheville to balance this out.
So sad you missed the thriving drag culture in Asheville. From Banks Avenue to Scandals Nightclub to O'henrys and to the ODD there is ALWAYS a show to catch on the weekends
Yep - still in Appalachia. They're everywhere out here. Folks think it's bad in the city; man, they're just wandering in from out here. Every fifth domicile in rural America is a drug den.
Sure, yeah, Asheville is a gorgeous town, however, the only people who are living there are either really really rich or really really homeless. It's super easy to peg any and all homeless people as drug addicts without spending any quality time with one of them. The main problem with Asheville is all of the land speculators and developers. That's where the real money is coming from, not tourism.
I moved here in 2014 and am neither even halfway rich nor any part homeless. I don't work in the service industry, however, and I DO think the area is becoming overpriced for many of those who do - which is a shame since they help make the city as friendly and welcoming as it is.
