Injuries are apart of the game. North Shore has benefited from Duncanville Injuries in the past, doesn't take away from their wins. BTW, Duncanville's starting QB was lost 1st game of the season so they too were playing with a back up qb.

When I first started watching them a few years ago I just thought they were good cuz they had elite athletes but something I’ve learned is they are a well coached team like extremely well duncanville arguably has better athletes And yet they always beat them

@@npierce14 over the last 5-6 yrs - yes, I would agree with you that Duncanville has had a slight edge with better athletes. There has been a year though where NS had the edge... that said - look at Duncanvilles other athletics. I'm a fan of the Houston schools first... but... I will give props to a Texas stud team like DV all day long... Their Basketball program is always nationally ranked, presently they're #2. Their track team always has insane talent rolling out... this is an athlete-mill... Now, regarding the coaching.... you can have all the athletic talent in the world... at the HS level though if you do not have coaching you are going nowhere beyond the regional stage in the playoffs. Duncanville, North Shore, Westlake - every year these 3 teams come in - and they are in title contention hitting the semi's at the very least. That coach for DV is a world class coach - but the coaching staff for NS, I just think that's a step ahead... not by much - but just a slight step... Gonna be a great game to watch!!

Yeah at one point I noticed receivers for Westlake were flopping for flags!

I was watching it on tv, and about 90% of the calls were legit. There was one bad call in favor of Westlake that resulted in a P.I., but besides that refs were fair.

They played system football which usually work against teams that are not laden with speedy and bigger athletes.

@@EELLISON2012 QB didn't play well that's true but it wasn't just him. Westlake seemed to want to believe that their "B" game would be enough to win. They lost energy when Northshore made plays, whereas Northshore increased their level of focus when Westlake had success.

@@ryanmccarthy8625 I know Bosco or MD would jump at a fame with NS. Cali teams love to play in TX. TX tradition, pageantry, facilities, etc. is tops in the nation by far. Not even close! However, I don't think NS would want to face those two schools. Maybe MC, but MC speed is on a level even higher than that of NS.

I know this because I've attended 15 of their 16 games this past season, including the championship game against Duncanville. From what I've seen firsthand, neither of those teams are lacking in speed. Besides that, there were a few star players for both teams that were out for the season due to injuries. So it's fair to assume that either of them would be good enough to face the likes of Miami Central, St. Francis Academy and IMG. As for SJB, I recall that they beat the pants off of Allen at their season opener but the Eagles aren't even considered one of the top teams in Texas anymore. That was made clearer when they couldn't even get past the 1st round in the playoffs against Lewisville. The latter was ousted by Prosper and the following week, they themselves were absolutely owned by Duncanville. The bottom line, is that the top teams in this state aren't afraid to face top teams elsewhere, that decision is ultimately made by the head coaches and athletic directors. Go visit some of the best high school teams in Texas and ask their varsity players if they're anxious about that prospect.

​​@@mka2147 North Shore doesn't even recruit they had open enrollment for the past decade meaning you don't need to live in the district zone to go there. It's called great coaching and consistency. They don't recruit. Plus kids transfer to schools that they see win all the time because they want to go there not get offered a scholarship or have an apartment or a house rented out nearby for their family to stay in.
